Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

Welcome @Capybara95 that's a great amount of frozen embryos!

@kerrym87 gosh your poor sister. I hope she found peace with it in the end?

I had my blood test this morning for NK Cells. I have a lot of autoimmune in my family and some auto immune conditions myself so the Dr thought it was best to check. Apparently this blood gets transported to Chicago for it to be tested 😱 that's why the test for NK cells is called the Chicago test. Wish I could have transported it myself and got a holiday 🙃

Has anybody else had this?

xx

blahblahetc · 19/03/2024 19:23

Hi @lemons44 Chicago?! Surely that’s not very cost effective? I’m not sure if that’s where my previous clinic (Create) sent the tests but I have got that tested too and am positive for NK cells. Never really understood it properly except my antibodies are too good they kill anything foreign! Is this how you understand it?

@Capybara95 we've just had 4th round icsi in Jan, previous 3 cycles were shit with only ever having 2 to transfer fresh none to freeze. This time we got 4 frosties 3 euploid one mosaic from 25 eggs 14 fertilised. We do have lots of issues between us though. It also doesn't matter if you are private or nhs there are strict rules about when to put back 2 embryos as he complications are higher with twins and embryos which have been creating using ivf have a higher tendency to split too. Clinics get fined by HFEA if thy pit back too many multiple embryos and get multiple births.
@lemons44 I did went to Dr gorgy in london as I have ME and endo so wanted ti rule out immune. Had emma/alice too. Just beware that even if everything is OK they may suggest add ons which haven't even got any research behind such as LIT which may possibly help some people genuinely or just be coincidence but sent feel pressured into agreeing to anything until you've had time to think and consider x

Hi all - happy Friday! Been a rollercoaster morning for me.. chasing hysteroscopy and ERA results etc.!

Long story short, I've decided to wait for next cycle (instead of rushing everything next week) so transfer may be 3rd week of April now..

How's everyone doing? Also, has anyone done a day 12 scan? I did that yesterday to check endometrium thickness, is 9mm good?

Hope it's a lovely weekend ahead for all 🌻

@blahblahetc I think it's a good decision, we all know stress is not our friend during a cycle! Once you get all results you will be more prepared and can stay calm and relaxed which will only help you.

The past two weeks have been really stressful for me (nothing related to fertility) which actually delayed my period. I think now I am looking at towards the end of the second week of April for the transfer.

blahblahetc · 22/03/2024 16:16

Thanks @Serendipity24 I think so too, feel silly now getting worked up since yesterday because results aren't ready.. spoke to my boss this morning in case I need last min leave approval and he said even if it's 1% more success, wait. Really woke me up!

Sorry about your delay too, we really have to be as stress-free as possible the days leading up to transfer. I had my prolactin checked previously and was given bromocriptine to manage it. Wondering if I should get it checked again before transfer!

Hi, hope it's ok for me to join. Just had a failed natural FET and AF arrived today so will (hopefully) have my second FET in April as long as my body does what it should this month where lining and ovulation is concerned. I'm 38 and have had 4 ECs to date, along with thryoid antibodies diagonosed (on Prednisolone for that) and a Hysteroscopy for adhesions and polyp removal. This time I will also be on baby aspirin from day 2 of my cycle. Last time was a 5AB embryo that did not implant, this time going for a 5BA, appreciate grading doesn't mean a lot but in the absence of PGTA that's the selection process. Good luck everyone!

blahblahetc · 22/03/2024 20:52

Hi @Sunflower360 welcome. Sorry about your failed transfer. Hoping April is our month!

I was preparing and had hoped for the FET to happen next week but my ERA result has not come back in time. I am on estradiol x 3, prednisolone and aspirin currently; the clinic has asked me to start on the progesterone pessaries tomorrow and will advise how to wean off on Monday prior to starting meds again on day 2 of April cycle. I hope that doesn’t mess up/delay my period..

They have asked for a progesterone blood test on day 12, and I am now wondering if there’s anything else I should test for I.e., prolactin? It was previously raised and I had bromocriptine (first cycle, ET) to manage that. That was my only BRP but was a faint positive 10dp5dt and lost subsequently. I have had 2 other transfers that didn’t implant, including one that was an euploid so I wonder if prolactin plays a part.. anyone been advised on this?

Sunflower360 · 22/03/2024 21:02

@blahblahetc could be worth testing. I hadn't realised it affects implantation? I read it can affect ovulation

blahblahetc · 22/03/2024 21:15

That’s what the NHS doctor said in my first cycle, they made sure the level was satisfactory before giving the green light for the ET so I remember trying very hard to not feel stressed!

I was with Create subsequently and they didn’t take that into consideration at all (even after me voicing in my concerns), which was disappointing because my transfers with them failed - one an euploid!

Im with a clinic in Prague now, they did test that initially and said the level was normal.. I will ask on Monday if I should get that tested again.

@blahblahetc I was wondering about prolactin! Might ask gp if she'd be willing to check as she's a previous ivf-er so sympathetic to the cause. Lining 8 or above above is good day 12, 9-10 better but wjat matters as wellnis if its triple layer x

blahblahetc · 23/03/2024 08:56

Let me know what your GP say @kerrym87 on how how to manage too 🙂

Thanks for the endometrium thickness info!

I'm a bit confused with my FET...First one and people have had so many different approaches, mines going to be oestradiol from day 1-2, adding in fyremadel to stop follicle developing then adding progesterone. It feels really weird to not have this imitating a 'normal ' physiological process at all

Sunflower360 · 23/03/2024 23:42

@kerrym87 could you opted to do a natural FET? It's a gamble as you can't be definite your body will play ball in that given month but hardly any meds. I'm doing that again this 2nd FET, if it don't go as planned I'll just start back up next month after that

blahblahetc · 24/03/2024 09:13

@kerrym87 what is your AMH? I wonder if that’s why fyremadel is added?

I will only be on estradiol and progesterone (and prednisolone and aspirin).

OP posts:
blahblahetc · 24/03/2024 09:23

@kerrym87 Also, I was asked to do a day 12 progesterone test to check that I am definitely not ovulating.. maybe check if you can do that instead?

OP posts:
kerrym87 · 24/03/2024 10:57

@blahblahetc my amh is 19 with afc of 34. I never ovulate until at least day 19 anyway.....I was reassured with their explanation at the time

custardcreamcake1 · 26/03/2024 10:04

Hi all, can I join? Got my scan on Friday, hopefully for our third FET the following week. Had a short-lived chemical for #1, and #2 didn’t work, so crossing everything for #3!

Sunflower360 · 26/03/2024 10:07

@custardcreamcake1 Hi! Are you doing natural or medicated FET? Anything different their doing this time round for you? I had a failed FET last cycle so added Aspirin this time, embryos are not tested though that are in the freezer so not sure which, if any, are euploid. So trial and error really

custardcreamcake1 · 26/03/2024 10:31

@Sunflower360 Hi! Yeah, all medicated. Only thing they’ve changed is I’m moving from progesterone pessaries to injectable lubion (which I sadly found out was significantly more ££££ 😅). Not on anything else other than the usual progynova I’ve been on before.

MotherOfShihTzus · 26/03/2024 10:39

Hello all, is it ok to join?

I'm cycle day 5 awaiting FET this cycle, after an early loss on fresh transfer in feb.

Medicated with added ganarelix to prevent dominant follicle (happened previously), metformin, lubion and progesterone pessaries, oestrogen, plus immune protocol (hydroxy, intralipids, prednisalone).

I have a son from previous round of IVF - he recently turned 2 ❤️

Sunflower360 · 26/03/2024 10:47

@MotherOfShihTzus Hi! You're probably on a similar timeline to me as I'm CD 5 on a natural FET with Ovitrelle as trigger, Aspirin, Prednisolone for Thyroid Antibodies and Cyclogest for Progesterone.

Have you got an immune condition as I notice you're on immune meds too?

Sunflower360 · 26/03/2024 10:48

@custardcreamcake1 ah ok, what was the reason to go on lubion?

MotherOfShihTzus · 26/03/2024 10:56

@Sunflower360 hello! Yes we are indeed cycle buddies :)

I've not had a condition diagnosed, but have had private testing for natural killer cells etc that have shown to be highly active. I have numerous skin conditions plus gastro issues so convinced there's something there, though. I had full suppression for my son and it worked, so have continued to use this (expensive!) protocol. The only difference this time is added prednisalone after the recent loss.

Is this your first FET?

MotherOfShihTzus · 26/03/2024 10:57

Forgot - I'll also be on blood thinner injections plus aspirin :)
