Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@lemons44 I ate a protein-filled breakfast and then a buffet lunch (filled up on chicken, prawns, veggies) after! I thought the McDonalds tradition is only for after egg collection😅I steered clear of anything processed (except chocolates..) after transfer!

@lemons44 I ate normally, but just followed a pregnancy diet so avoiding things like raw fish, cured meats etc. We actually went out for a meal out after and I had fish and chips...but that was more of a treat...and then waa back on the healthy

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 10:09

Has anyone had covid or been ill before a transfer? I've just got told by someone who was in my car 2 days ago they've tested for covid today 😳 I'm hoping I don't get it but I'm pre empting if I do what do I do???? They just have a sore chest/throat but no fever, but of course symptoms can vary by person. They were only in my car for a short trip as a passenger due to car sharing to a venue (I was driving)....just hope I don't get it!!!! If I was to transfer this cycle if all goes to plan, earliest it would be would next weekend or early the week after

kerrym87 · 25/04/2024 10:28

@Sunflower360 I got covid around egg collection and it torched everything but not sure if it would have the same effect for a transfer. Best bet is to ring the clinic for advice if you are worried, I would have thought it wouldn't be so much of a problem for a transfer. You would know if you were positive by the weekend in theory; some people carry it but are asymptomatic.

Serendipity24 · 25/04/2024 10:29

@Sunflower360 So sorry that now you have Covid to worry about on the top of everything. If it was a short ride then hopefully you didn't catch it. I didn't get it when my husband got it twice, and we were living in the same house. But in the unfortunate event you do get it, I think the cycle would get cancelled. That's what we were told by the previous two clinics but that was 1/2 years ago and each time we had to test before the collection. The current clinic didn't say anything about Covid and no testing was required before transfer. But my husband had to cancel his tests last year due to getting it before the appointment. The best would be to get tested and seek your clinic's advice in case of positive.

Edited to correct that we had to test before egg collection, not transfer.

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 10:31

@kerrym87 thanks. I understand that fevers/temperatures are not good for a transfer as it can affect possible implantation. But I suppose if that happened I would know within the week anyway before transferring and could take Paracetamol for that. May just need to see if I get it or any symptoms. In all honesty I'm wondering if it is a null point not anyway, I got another bug at Christmas time that was not covid (tested negative) and that was full on flu like with a temperature etc. Covid is kind of like any bug now so hopefully it'll be ok

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 10:32

Thanks @Serendipity24 I'll just see if any symptoms pop up in the enxt fee days and test if that happens

blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 10:38

@Sunflower360 I want to say, majority are vaccinated now so the symptoms/effects are not as bad anymore i.e., it is almost like just like a cold these days. So hopefully that will put you at ease a little? What is your prednisolone dose? You also have the NK cells so naturally (and very effectively) your body will be fighting it. Hope you didn't catch it nonetheless!

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 10:47

@blahblahetc Thanks, last time I got covid it was gone after a couple of days and there was no temperature so hopefully, if I was to get it, it would just be the same. I may just forget about it and deal with it if it happens no point worrying about it I suppose! My Prednisolone dose is 10mg so it is a low dose, I am having bone broth and other healthy foods to help with immune system so hopefully that all helps

beachbum85 · 25/04/2024 11:26

@2024forthewin I'm so, so sorry you're also battling with the beta results... it must be eating you up. I hope the third beta gives you some answers, and positive ones!
@Serendipity24 sending more positive thoughts to you too as you decide when to take bloods again.

@lemons44 I hope the transfer went smoothly and you didn't have any of the problems you faced previously.
I am a stickler for all the myths and rules, so I did get McDonald's fries after transfer 😇 apart from that, I went back to eating as healthily as possible, and as pregnant, although I eased up on the chocolate and carbs after transfer.
And with that amount of progesterone, the cramping has to be a side effect. I've had cramping on Cyclogest with no bleeding (and no implantation) so I'm pretty sure it was the high levels of progesterone. As you say, good to avoid symptom spotting!

@Sunflower360 ugh, sorry you have to deal with another variable, and all of this after the blood flow test and everything came back clear... We've never had any mention of COVID pre-transfer either. I guess the main issue would be if you got fever, as you say, or the fact that you probably wouldn't be able to take some of the meds you normally would to relieve symptoms... but if you feel well then I would assume it's no issue.

@localbunny have you tested again?
@blahblahetc I'm glad you've got that beta in although that increase is mindblowing! Feels like everything is so, so much more expensive these days... our clinic said they were ramping up the prices v significantly for this month after 10y...

@Sherr33 I think as long as the holiday is a break, and not adding stress to the process because of the tight logistics, then go for it! I'm a big believer in doing whatever helps you feel better going into transfer 😊

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 11:30

@beachbum85 thanks, if I got symptoms such as fever/temp I would likely take Paracetamol and that's it as that's allowed or so I think anyway

beachbum85 · 25/04/2024 11:32

@Sunflower360 yep, definitely no problem with paracetamol, I was told.

LouP87 · 25/04/2024 13:15

@beachbum85 thanks for the well wishes 😊

all going well so far, all 8 eggs survived the thaw, were injected and lost one at that point. Anxious wait until tomorrow morning to find out how many of the 7 fertilised!

blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 14:22

@LouP87 That is a good outcome. Here’s to wishing you all the best!🍀

Quick update on my testing: there is a very very faint line. FRER was this morning, husband thought I was going mad when i insisted there is a second line.. Wondfo was just now, I wanted to double check before I share it here. They are very very faint, I just adjusted the brightness to confirm to myself there are 2 lines!

So I’m cautiously jumping up and down a little inside; and also now worried about it being a chemical as it is so faint.. I am eating an obscene amount of brazil nuts and waiting to test again in the morning..

@blahblahetc there's definitely a second line! And quite prominent for 6dp5dt! Hope it gets darker and darker! Congratulations!

AnxiousAndHopeful · 25/04/2024 14:57

@blahblahetc That's great news!!! Congratulations! I have heard early implanters have a greater chance of success. The fear of a chemical is real - I booked in to have betas just to have peace of mind. My NHS dr is actually seeing me on Tuesday at 5+3 for a scan 😱

@lemons44 Congrats on being PUPO - I had Nandos fries!

@Sunflower360 I saw on a thread somewhere someone had terrible food poisoning the week after FET and still had a healthy little one - fingers crossed for you. But I am v sorry you have an additional stress, as if it's not bad enough!

@beachbum85 How is week 4 treating you? Any nausea?

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 15:17

@blahblahetc OMG that is a definite line and a good one too! Please send to Dr Winston just to make him realise IT IS possible after the email he sent! 😂 What meds are you on again? Are you taking anything for the NK cells?

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 15:20

@AnxiousAndHopeful thanks, I'm kind of just going to just see what happens, if I get no symptoms for covid then that's a good result-will likely know by the end of this week. Worse case I have to postpone and re start next cycle, but just glad I've decided to do back to back as you can't pre empt these extra little curve balls that come along so going back to back just mitigates that!

blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 15:24

@Sunflower360 🤣Bless you! Yes, no need for that kind of negativity!

I am on 5mg prednisolone (previously 10mg with Create) for the NK cells. I almost wanted to self-prescribed the other 5; I have read that anything under 25mg is safe.

Im also on 3x 2mg estrogen, 3x 400mg cyclogest and 1x 40mg Clexane plus the vitamins: 800mcg folic acid, vit d 4000iu, oral probiotics, and salmon oil.

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 15:29

@blahblahetc do you have any symptoms as you mentioned you didn't have any before?

blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 15:37

@Sunflower360 Nothing at all. I was checking my boobs last night and this morning (are they sore, are they bigger 😅), and I woke up feeling sad and expecting to see another stark white test.. still nothing at the moment.

With my chemical in 2022, it was a faint positive at 8dp5dt - no symptoms.

But with my natural pregnancy (missed miscarriage at week 10), I remember being sore but only later on.. I think week 7 onwards. I didn’t even know I was pregnant.

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 15:39

@blahblahetc think plenty of people have said no symptoms is absolutely fine so hopefully the line keep progressing and congratulations! What CD did you transfer this cycle?

Sunflower360 · 25/04/2024 15:45

@blahblahetc also I have come across threads on MN that have said Prednisolone can supress early pregnancy symptoms so that could be why you haven't had symptoms

blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 15:46

@Sunflower360 CD18. This was based on my ERA results (implantation window), perhaps look into that? I know mixed reviews on that, but now that I understand the purpose, it makes sense. It tells you when to start adminstering the progesterone. The standard is 120hrs and I needed more than that.

OP posts:
blahblahetc · 25/04/2024 15:48

@Sunflower360 Oh that's interesting on prednisolone. Hoping I get to experience week 7 and beyond this time to see any symptoms come up then.

My mum said she had absolutely nothing too. I don't know if this is hereditary?
