Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

Thanks @MotherOfShihTzus @Faith2024 @beachbum85 I'm now hoping he was just grumpy when he responded to me😅I am hanging onto hope and looking forward to my FET this Friday!

Cultivating the day-3 to day-5 makes sense, hope it is a strong one and yeh, hope I don't need to use it..

@Faith2024 Will you be preparing for a fresh transfer after this final collection?

I'm so sorry @Eljane34 . It is for the best, do what you can now to thicken the lining. Remind me, are you on low dose aspirin? Blood flow is important so lots of veggies and protein too. Maybe also look into chinese herbs? I've been on it since preparing for my egg collections; I can't say for sure it helps but I feel we make better blasts since being on it..

So sorry @Eljane34 ☹️ totally gutted for you. As tough as it is at least your little embryo is still safe and sound and as you say you're not risking losing it due to thin lining. Will you be having the natural cycle as soon as your period starts?

Be kind to yourself today. It's a big disappointment after all the preparation. Xx

Faith2024 · 15/04/2024 14:00

@blahblahetc I won’t be having a fresh transfer as we will be doing PGT-A testing, I know it’s controversial sometimes but due to being over 40 I think that makes sense for us. First we have to see if and how many make it to day 5. A lot of hurdles to cross yet.

I am hoping to have a natural/modified natural FET if my consultant agrees, I can’t see any reason why not yet.

Lozzy000 · 15/04/2024 20:41

@beachbum85 thank you! All went well today - nice and quick and with no pain this time (they used a smaller speculum). Hopefully our miracle day 6 4BC will do what it needs to.

My progesterone levels were low today though - in the 30s - so I'll be taking an additional lubion injection each day. Has anyone else had low progesterone levels on transfer day and had a positive outcome? I kind of feel like all hopes are gone for some reason - this 2nd cycle has been much tougher than the first x

MotherOfShihTzus · 15/04/2024 21:44

Hi @Lozzy000 same situation here! My progesterone was 27 transfer day so added lubion day after (didn't get results til then), so I too seem to have lost all hope this cycle. I'm 6 days ahead of you so can let you know how it goes!

MotherOfShihTzus · 15/04/2024 21:45

I will say though - my clinic wanted it to be 30-35 so 30s should be fine!

Lozzy000 · 16/04/2024 08:53

Thank you @MotherOfShihTzus - I'm sorry yours was low too. I have read that as long as the progesterone is increased it should be okay.... but one always worries. I've had a terrible 2nd cycle. So interesting that your clinic wants a level of 30-35 - mine wants 50 and last FET mine was 69 on the same protocol..... aren't bodies strange things 😂

How are you feeling? When are you planning on testing? My OTD is 27th April but last time I started testing early. I was glad that I did, as although it ended in a chemical, it was the first BFP I ever got. So gave me hope that something started working x

lemons44 · 16/04/2024 08:58

Morning all

Feeling really disheartened today. I had my first scan and they said my lining is currently too thin (6.8mm) so they have now given me eostrogen patches and a rescan on Friday. My intralipid infusion today has been cancelled because of it.

MotherOfShihTzus · 16/04/2024 09:02

@Lozzy000 so sorry about your chemical - it's so tough to be so close. My feb fresh was a chemical and it sent me off the edge, watching the lines disappear, signed off with anxiety!

I did a bit of digging last night on an ivf Facebook group; there were lots of posts with our issue, looking for reassurance, and I saw so many positive responses where ppl had low progesterone at transfer, added more and got pregnant - so feeling a bit more positive!

I'm 7dp5dt of a 6 day embryo; my 2 previous I'd tested by now, but after the heartache of last time, trying to hold off as long as possible. OTD 22nd; hoping to make it to Thursday at least, maybe Sunday if I can hack it! Getting progesterone re-tested today so results of that will maybe steer me one way or the other!

How's everyone getting on?

MotherOfShihTzus · 16/04/2024 09:04

Oh @lemons44 sorry to hear this. 6.8 is so close to the magic 7 - I reckon the extra patches should do the trick. Could it be re-booked if next scan goes well? Where are you having intralipids? I'm with dr Shehata.

lemons44 · 16/04/2024 09:24

Thanks @MotherOfShihTzus do you know is 7mm the minimum? My nurse wasn't very clear she said some consultants like to see 7mm but I'm not sure what the optimal is. Just really hoping it grows a bit by Friday.

lemons44 · 16/04/2024 09:25

@MotherOfShihTzus also they said if my scan is ok on Friday I will have the intralipid on Saturday. I'm just having them at my clinic CRGH. Never had one before x

Serendipity24 · 16/04/2024 11:49

@lemons44 A lining of 6.8mm is not that thin and you have time until Friday to improve it. My lining increased from 6.7mm on CD9 to 7.6mm on CD11. Eat/drink lining thickeners like pomegranate juice, nuts and seeds, leafy greens, avocados, citrus etc.

@blahblahetc that Dr Winston reply was so rude, it made me really cross! Surely, it’s not impossible to give objective opinion with kindness and compassion?! Glad that you are putting this behind you.

@Eljane34 sorry your cycle got cancelled but as you have said it’s not worth risking good embryos when the lining is not optimal. Hope you get to start the next cycle soon.

@Sunflower360 hope you are doing well. Did AF arrive? Your plan to go for another FET straight away sounds good.

@DippyDuck19 haven’t seen any update from you in a while. how are you doing? Have you started your cycle yet?

Good luck @Faith2024 and @Lozzy000 🍀

@MotherOfShihTzus we are transfer buddies. My clinic thinks I should not do a home test until the 21st. My blood test is on the 18th. I think I will also do a FRER in the morning that day. Last time I found it really hard to wait all day for the blood result.

Some update from me now. I bled a little on Sunday night (5dp5dt), it was so scary to see bright red blood. It wasn’t a lot of blood but bright red blood nonetheless. The colour really threw me off. Implantation bleed is light pink/brown, so pretty sure it wasn’t that. I never bled during tww period before; bleed always came 2/3 days after stopping progesterone. And I took Lubion shot just 1.5 hours before it happened, so don’t think somehow low progesterone was the reason when my levels were alright the day before transfer too. I went to bed thinking that by morning I would get AF. But I haven’t bled anymore since then. My clinic told me not to read too much into the colour of the blood, and to continue with medication until blood test on Thursday. So that is pretty much what I am doing and hoping there is no more episodes of bleeding. My optimism has taken a serious battering though.

beachbum85 · 16/04/2024 12:04

@lemons44 I'm really sorry about your scan today, it must be so worrying. I hope your lining picks up by Friday. I don't know how much of a difference any of the old wives tales make, but are you taking Vit E, brazil nuts, pomegranate juice, etc? I guess it's worth a try over the next few days 🤞🏼

@Eljane34 I'm so sorry this round has been cancelled - that must be so disheartening after waiting and preparing but, yes, definitely best to protect the embryos. I hope your period starts soon and you get to your FET smoothly xxx

@Lozzy000 congrats on being PUPO and fingers crossed for your little embryo to stick! Sorry to hear about the progesterone levels - I'm afraid I have no experience as mine weren't tested but I've have read scientific studies that show that increasing from transfer 'rescues' it! Really strange how our bodies react differently to the same meds...

@Serendipity24 ugh that bleed must have been really scary!! Glad to hear you haven't had any since, and hopefully it was totally unrelated to AF or anything like that. Good thing you'll have a blood test in a couple of days too... very best of luck xxx

@MotherOfShihTzus good luck with your progesterone retest 🤞🏼
Your OTD is even later than mine (21st)... I thought 12dp5dt is pretty late already! Thanks @Serendipity24 for confirming your clinic says not to test at home before then... adds some strength to waiting. @Lasagne30 when's yours? How are doing?

@blahblahetc only a few days to go! how are you feeling today?

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Sunflower360 · 16/04/2024 12:46

@Serendipity24 I'm ok thanks, just waiting for AF, still spotting but it's only been a day since I stopped the pessaries. My follow up is tomorrow so will know if I can proceed straight away or not.

Bleeding 5dp5dt is the right time for implantation so hopefully its a good sign! I agree about the testing, I will leave it longer next time to do it otherwise you just go down a rabbit hole!

Sunflower360 · 16/04/2024 12:47

Hope everyone else is well!

wildhay · 16/04/2024 13:54

Hi can I join? I am a bit late but just feel the urge to get this off my chest

I've been following the along the thread but haven't posted until today

I'm 5dp5dt and got a BFN this morning, I wasn't expecting to be so upset but I'm really sad and have lost all hope

This is my 5th transfer, 1 & 2 were BFN, 3 was an early loss and 4 (fresh transfer 2nd cycle) resulted in my beautiful almost 3 year old daughter

We had 4 frozen embryos from the cycle that created our daughter, 3 really good quality 1 not so good, this embryo was the best of those in a FET

Everything was textbook, great lining, good progesterone results, but BFN

For my 2 positive results in the past I had clear symptoms by now (veiny boobs, vivid dreams, implantation bleeding) and faint lines so can't help but feel this is conclusive (no symptoms at all)

I truly thought I would be able to pick myself up and carry on but I'm so sad

This thread has helped me get this far and I've been following from the start, wishing everyone success 🪄

blahblahetc · 16/04/2024 14:17

Thanks @Serendipity24 and as long as the bleeding has stopped, it shouldn't be a concern. Crossing everything for you!

@beachbum85 I think I'm starting to feel a bit nervous, not about the procedure but going into the TWW! My last transfer (fresh) was in November so it has been a while.. on the one hand I am feeling hopeful, on the other I'm worried of the disappointment ahead.. I think I'm prepared for an unsucessful outcome but I really don't know.. are you 7dp too? I'm trying to remember who's partnered with who re. transfer buddies😅

I have booked myself a progesterone test tomorrow morning, honestly didn't think of this at all until I've read the experiences on here (don't think my blood was taken to check that in previous transfers, but not 100% certain as that feels like a long time ago).

I am also currently trying to remember if I had taken my afternoon estrogen pill!

@wildhay Welcome to the group! I think you still have a bit of time so hang in there. It is a difficult journey.

@lemons44 I’ve had lots of EWCM on progynova, I’m on x3 2mg a day, 1 asprin, and as of last Monday, x1 estrogen patch a day. My scan last Monday wasn’t thick enough so put on patches, checked it again on Friday and still not thick enough, had actually got thinner! So another scan on Monday. @blahblahetc I’ll find out tomorrow if the transfer will go ahead or not, depends on my lining. I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and eating Brazil nuts, don’t lots of walking and having red meat tonight.

I really really hope it’s thickened, however I feel that the round is going to be abandoned. I think next they will try me on a natural round. My lining was perfect for the fresh transfer, I’m wondering whether my body reacts differently to estrogen, when I was on the pill for years and years I had very light periods, so maybe a natural round would suit me better, just HATE having to wait and start the process over again.

@lemons44 ive had quite a bit of fatigue and also vertigo/dizziness on the meds.

@Lasagne30 @Bnichols89 @MotherOfShihTzus @Sherr33 @waitingforourmiracle how are you all? I think we were all on the ICSI February group together. (Sorry if I have missed anyone!)

All good here thanks! Sorry I've not read this whole thread so hope everything is going ok for you and lining has thickened?
I've been for a scan this morning and lining was 7.2 so booked in for transfer on Monday, so nervous! X

waitingforourmiracle · 16/04/2024 14:39

Sorry @Eljane34 I should of read the comments before I replied, so sorry to hear it's been cancelled, sending love x

charliegirl77 · 16/04/2024 15:35

Hey Everyone. As expected blood tests showed not enough hcg for a viable pregnancy. My AF arrived Sunday! The joys.

@Sunflower360 Sorry you
get your negative. Well some for getting straight on with the next round.

Hope the ones who are who have had a transfer are busy and doing ok.

Good luck to those with transfers soon. will keep any eye out on the thread to see how you all get on.

Serendipity24 · 16/04/2024 16:24

Thanks @blahblahetc. I used to forget whether I had taken the afternoon pill. Then I counted how many I used and whether that matched with my dose. On a couple of occasions I did find that I missed it. So counting helped.

Serendipity24 · 16/04/2024 16:49

Thanks @beachbum85 and @Sunflower360

I just don't think it was implantation bleeding as the colour was really bright red 😕. But good that it has stopped.
