Any success stories for low amh result

Hi . I got my amh result yesterday and its 5.34 pmol/l and I'm very disheartened.

I don't think Ivf will be an option for us . We have 2 children already concieved naturally but there is a big age gap. Is it possible to get pregnant on an amh this low. I'm guessing time will be more limited . I'm 34 years old . I am going for more testing to factor in other things and having a scan so I know that will also tell me more . Thanks

Hi @Keyval89 I'm still in the process of IVF after an unsuccessful high stims cycle. My AMH is 4.3 pmol and I'm 37; going into a 3 cycle natural modified IVF at the end of this month. I have read lots of positive stories on MN so low AMH does not mean no success, plus you have age on your side being only 34

noaddedsugarx · 09/08/2023 13:45

Hi :) my best friend is 34 and has an amh of 1.1. She had been TTC for 18 months and was just about to start IVF this month when she found out she was pregnant. Low AMH does not mean you cannot conceive naturally.. it just means you might not have as good of a response to ivf. Plus your eggs should still be of a decent quality at this age!

Lebe14 · 13/08/2023 13:50

My AMH is 4 and struggled to conceive naturally for about 3 years. Low AMHers will always get low numbers of eggs at retrieval, but it's worth a shot. My consultant recommended a multi cycle package - so she's honest in that it might take a few goes - but it's definitely still worth trying.

acaciabluebell · 13/08/2023 13:54

I don't have any success stories of natural conception but I was able to get pregnant with IVF with an AMH of 5.0 pmol.

Keyval89 · 13/08/2023 15:06

As we have 2 beautiful children we don't feel we would go through ivf . A third would be a blessing but I'm hoping my chances are still good for a natural conception . Thanks

I'm 43 and my amh when I did ivf last year was 2.1. I'm now pregnant. I had a friend with high amh that had lots of eggs retrieved and none of them got to day 5. I had seven eggs out of thirteen (over more than one cycle) get to day 5. Don't be disheartened xx

Keyval89 · 09/09/2023 09:43

Just an update . I managed to get pregnant the same month I got the results :) I'm 5weeks 1day now . Hoping for a sticky baby xxx

Such lovely news. Congratulations xx

CR7 · 29/10/2023 16:29

@Keyval89 how are you getting on x

Keyval89 · 29/10/2023 18:38

Hi thanks for checking in . I'm 12 weeks pregnant now and have had a few scans all is looking good. I guess in the end the number made no difference as I got pregnant the same month I got the results . :) x

Thought I would add my 2 pence onto this thread as I spent so many hours trawling mumsnet when I got my low amh score. I hadn’t started trying ttc yet but wanted to do the test for piece of mind and it came back as 4.6 amh, so very low for my age (30 at the time). In sheer panic we decided we had to try right then and we were pregnant with our son within a month… Still thinking that he must have been some sort of miracle and the low amh would hamper any chances of a second child, we tried again when he was 9 months old and were pregnant again first month.

When I got given that amh, it was a doom and gloom story I was given by the doctor - so I spent ages on here trying to find some sort of hope, so wanted to reassure anyone in my situation!

I also had the follicle scan and it was an equally depressing picture - so it does show that low amh/egg count really doesn’t hamper natural conception!

hope that gives some hope so people!

Amh of 8.2 when I did ICSI - we also had male factor and it worked first time. Tried IVF for our second 2 years later and got nothing, conceived naturally a couple of months after the failed IVF!

SErunner · 06/01/2024 07:19

Glad to hear your story @Purtyburty. IVF for our first after nearly two years no success. Never went back on contraception. Daughter 2.5 now and two failed cycles last summer for a sibling. Living in hope we get lucky some time!

I also just wanted to add my story here because I remember how devastated I felt when I was told I had low ovarian reserve and how I trawled Mumsnet for reassurance from people. I decided if I could ever be a positive story for someone, I would.
At 33 I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve at 3.8 pmol. I was so so upset and having tried for six months we were referred to a fertility doctor. They wanted us to start on fertility treatments straight away, the doctor said to me “you have the same amount of eggs as a 40 year old” which shook me and then told us if we wanted more than one child we should also try and freeze some embryos.
The week after that appointment we found out we were pregnant. That was about the ninth cycle of targeted trying.
Fast forward to my DS being 19 months old, me at 35 nearly 36 and still breastfeeding, my periods only having come back 2 months before and being extremely light and only 21 days apart, we conceived again. I assume my AMH is now lower than 3.8. I’m now 32 weeks pregnant.
Anyway my experience has made me realise that AMH isn’t everything and it really is one piece of the puzzle.
Anyway I hope this gives others some comfort and congrats on the pregnancy OP!! x

So nice to see this thread come up with lots of positive stories. Adding my update. Daughter via IVF in 2021 after 2 years no success conceiving naturally and told I had a low AMH and AFC. 3 failed cycles last year to have a second. Currently 8 weeks with my first ever natural conception and all looking well 🤞 6 years off contraception I never believed this would happen but here we are. Wishing everyone well.

flowersinthecloud · 22/04/2024 11:12

@Keyval89 congratulations, it's great to hear a positive outcome! I was about to start a similar thread as I've just had my amh results come back at 3.45. I'm 37 and don't have any children and am really worried as to what this might mean. Going to book a scan and get DH to do SA.

Hello success story: 2 years ago fertility MOT showed AMH 1.54 Pmol/L. I was single and 38 so just felt pretty depressed , thought I’d missed the boat.

2 years on I’m now 40. No idea what my AMH is, must be close to zero. I’m 13 weeks pregnant, natural conception.

it just takes one egg!

Akan · 21/05/2024 07:40

Hi @KimberleyT7 @Keyval89 you did anything for low AMH and egg quality ?

KimberleyT7 · 21/05/2024 08:30

@Akan i was taking ubiquinol (I think 400mg a day) with my first for about three months. I then started taking about 200-300mg a day for a couple of weeks before conceiving my second. So honestly I don’t think it can have had an impact for my second conception, I hadn’t been taking it long enough. Hard to say whether it helped, made me feel like I was doing something though which is sometimes worth it, it was v expensive from memory unfortunately.

Tilyoufindyourdream · 29/05/2024 17:52

So lovely to hear these positive stories! Just starting our journey and have been told my AMH is low at 5.4. Good to know it’s not the be all and end all though!

Hannah123456789012 · 31/07/2024 18:03

Just wanted to add my success story for anyone looking - I was given an AMH result of 10 pmol in May 2022, which fell to 7 pmol when retested in April 2023 (with an AFC of 7 I think). We were struggling to conceive, 2 years of trying, but subsequently found I had endometriosis which was treated in May 2023. I then conceived naturally the very next cycle, so once the endometriosis was sorted, the low AMH didn’t seem to have an effect! As they say “it only takes one egg” ❤️

wishing everyone the best of luck in your TTC journeys - don’t give up hope! ❤️

Marj84 · 06/08/2024 19:18

I really think these AMH tests are unhelpful and preys on women's vulnerabilities. I was told 2 and a half years ago when I had a fertility mot that my amh was 1.54 pmol/L and AFC 7. The fertility clinic advised that as single I needed to get a sperm donor and or freeze eggs asap. I didn't do this and met someone later. 2.5 years later at 40 I am now 26 weeks pregnant with a spontaneous pregnancy, no need for IVF. There are women on here with results way way better than my AMH thinking their time is up or they need IVF. Honestly AMH is such a poor indicator of things. Please don't let this result stress you out. Stress won't help ttc. My AMH must surely be almost zero by now and I've managed it!

Hannah123456789012 · 10/08/2024 12:14

@Marj84 congratulations on your pregnancy! 😍

I love this story, thank you! I'm 28, and recently had a MA which I regret deeply and still think about every single day, however it's not the right time for me and my partner and wouldn't be fair to bring a child up yet. We don't live together yet and have only been in a relationship just over a year. We have said in the next couple of years we would hopefully be in a position to have a baby.

My anxiety around my own fertility and not knowing exactly what will happen in the next few years plays on my mind. I don't trust the AMH test - I did at home finger prick twice, within 3 weeks, and got massively different results. The first was 32pmol and the most recent was 21pmol, done within 3 weeks of each other. Makes no sense! I now have no idea what's going on and I feel stressed. I just hope I'm going to still be good to go when we are finally ready.
