Hi All, we will be starting our IVF journey with Kings Fertility next month. How was your experience? Was it successful? Thanks!

@misspinredhill it's a lot of appointments if you're doing a fresh IVF cycle - initial appt then a baseline scan before the cycle you're going to start, day 5 scan then a scan every 2/3 days until egg collection (probably 2 or 3 scans), then a day for egg collection and then another day for transfer. And another day for a scan of cycle is successful. It's doable but with that commute you will basically need a full day off for every appt so depends on how accommodating your work will be. The amount of appts will be similar between clinics but obviously a more convenient one requires less time off.

Thank you so much for getting back to me, much appreciated

Hi All. I am currently going through a round at Kings after unsuccessful cycles elsewhere.

I found out (rather late in the day unfortunately) that they don’t freeze blasts that are graded BC or below, as they see low thaw survival rates for C grade blasts. I’ve had my eggs collected and awaiting blast report and am freaking out about this. Have previously had quite a few C grade blasts and concerned that might be all I get (am freezing for PGT). The clinic did imply they are gentle graders though, I.e., they might grade a blast a C that another clinic would grade a D.

Are any of you able to share your experiences of this? E.g., if you were at another clinic before how did your blast rate and grading compare? What was your attrition?

As a general comment, I think Kings are great in terms of service. Absolutely no complaints and much better than other clinics I have been to. Their premises are also lovely.

Has anyone done a natural modified FET at Kings? I'm just wondering approximately how many scans are involved and how often they might be. I was told they start scanning around cycle day 9/10, but was just wondering how many appointments I might expect after that? Just trying to anticipate how I might fit everything in around work. Input much appreciated!

Labradoodlepup · 05/09/2023 16:41

@Ecdysiast wishing you lots of luck! I hope this is helpful. I did one in July and am embarking on another this month. In July they scanned me at the end of my last cycle, around day 24 I think, then day 8, then day 12. In between they had me do ovulation tests. On day 12 they were happy and had me do the trigger shot that evening, then the transfer was exactly one week later.

This time they did the baseline scan around the same time, and scan is planned on day 10. I’m expecting to possibly have to go in again on day 12. I think if your lining or egg haven’t fully developed at that point they might scan every few days.

I’m finding it really difficult to arrange around work myself as it always seems to fall around important and difficult to move meetings. Especially as they tend to be running behind, even for the first scan of the day which is 940.

TheBirdintheCave · 05/09/2023 17:07

@Ecdysiast It was four for me. They finally let me trigger on CD18.

Ecdysiast · 07/09/2023 17:31

Thanks @Labradoodlepup and @TheBirdintheCave , that's really helpful. Do you know what time of days scans are usually done? Are they always in the morning? What about embryo transfers? Just trying to anticipate what time of day I might have to leave work!

TheBirdintheCave · 07/09/2023 18:02

@Ecdysiast My transfer was at 4.30pm but they are done all day. I think the scans are afternoons only? Don't quote me on that one though.

Labradoodlepup · 07/09/2023 19:22

@Ecdysiast I asked them about this recently, they said they do baseline scans in the afternoon and in cycle scans from 940. We’re currently on an NHS cycle though and I have fantasies of better timings available for private patients. Kings haven’t been flexible when I’ve had work conflicts, they were rigid about only doing the baseline in the afternoon. My transfer in July was done at 330, but agreed think they do those all day.

Floralsandsmiles · 07/09/2023 21:38

Hi everyone, can anyone advise in regards to their pessaries they are prescribed, how many times a day are you asked to take these? And are they 200mg? I have been prescribed Utrogestan xxxx

TheBirdintheCave · 07/09/2023 22:10

@Labradoodlepup It's no better unfortunately 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ecdysiast · 03/10/2023 14:52

Hi all,
I had my first ever embryo transfer (FET) at Kings just over a week ago, and even though I haven't tested yet (OTD is Thurs) I'm pretty certain it has failed (all my usual period symptoms are bang on time today).

Just wondering if anyone knows how long they make you wait between a failed cycle and starting a new cycle?

Hi @Ecdysiast , don't lose hope yet. Wait till the official test time. It can still happen!

You usually wait 1 full cycle before you can start the new one. Mainly because you need a baseline scan before you start a new cycle (before period starts) and also you need time to have a follow-up appt to figure out what went wrong, what can be done better etc, order new meds. Also good to let your body recover a little. So all-in-all, just one cycle wait between current and new.

Ecdysiast · 05/10/2023 09:26

Thanks @Labradoodlepup , that's really helpful. Just one more day to hold out until OTD...

misspinredhill · 06/10/2023 10:23

Hi there, I am just about to schedule a consultation with Kings, I am thinking of the enhanced consultation for me and my husband will they do the semen analysis, ultrasound and consultation on the same day? Just trying to work out logistics as will need to arrange for after school pick ups etc and may need holiday, can someone talk me through how the consultation works please?

TheBirdintheCave · 06/10/2023 10:35

My scan and blood test and my husband's semen analysis were done on the same day but the consultation was by phone a few days after that once they had gathered the results and could suggest a treatment plan for us.

Hi @Jane1284 - may I ask what your amh was when you had your successful cycle at King's?

Hi @RarePlant - may I also ask what your amh is and any updates since? I am also looking at King's / Create after a failed cycle.

Thanks x 😊

Jane1284 · 11/10/2023 16:12

Hi @bloss0mx - my AMH was 4.5 when I had my successful cycle with Kings (only got 2 eggs that cycle, 1 of which is my son).
I had my AMH tested end of 2022 right before my planned FET and it was 3.5. I got pregnant naturally in Jan with that AMH.
Good luck! X

Hi all, unfortunately I am not ovulating so we need to go private in order to ttc.(I cant get referred due to BMI of 32 - which im trying to lose weight). But want to get started sooner rather than later.
I'm interested in Kings Fertility but had a few questions so hoping someone on here could help.

  1. How does the enhanced consultation go? (I presume in person) Do they then encourage more blood tests? Ask for any info prior? Do all the AMH/Sperm analysis etc happen at appointment?
  2. Once you get results etc - do you then have to pay for further consultation or recommendations of treatment or is this covered in the above?
  3. How does that convo go - as in do they present a couple of options such as Ovulation Induction or do they go you can do x, y z, such as ovulation induction or IVF - we think xyz will be more successful.
  4. How many appointsment on average did you have for the above?
  5. Lastly I've heard costs are much more than just the price on the price lists. I would love to know your cost including scans/bloods tests/medicines for
  6. Ovulation Induction such as Clomid/Letroz.
  7. IVF (single or 3 rounds)
  8. Initial diagonistic tests etc prior to treatment.

Thank you!
I know there is so many questions but thought i'd write in one post.

bloss0mx · 18/10/2023 09:27

Morning all - do King's run any webinars or open evenings please?

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 09:48

@bloss0mx I'm not sure. I've not seen anything about it before if they do.

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 10:03

@Optimistic66

Enhanced consultation was a sperm analysis, scan and blood tests all on one day. Once the results are in you can have an in person or telephone consultation with a doctor to discuss the next steps and results.

Once you get results etc - do you then have to pay for further consultation or recommendations of treatment or is this covered in the above?

Covered in the above.

How does that convo go - as in do they present a couple of options such as Ovulation Induction or do they go you can do x, y z, such as ovulation induction or IVF - we think xyz will be more successful.

We got options and recommendations.

How many appointment on average did you have for the above?

Just two.

Lastly I've heard costs are much more than just the price on the price lists. I would love to know your cost including scans/bloods tests/medicines for

  1. IVF (single or 3 rounds)

All in, one round for us was about £6k including medication which was about £900. I didn't have any other treatment. Kings are very transparent with their prices. The only extras you have to pay for are medications. Blood tests and scans are all included in their packages.

RarePlant · 18/10/2023 11:30

@bloss0mx hey I'm actually emailing Kings today to ask for a new test as it will be almost 6 months since my last AMH test overseas. I actually had another AMH test with the NHS 4 months ago but they are taking too long to release my results and I just don't want to waste more time. Are you trying to do a new cycle this month or next? I am worried they have warned me that there is no guarantee we will be able to start this year cause of xmas and we will have to start next year which is quite disturbing considering lowering AMH!!! I am even starting to think of just skip Kings and go to Create instead.

@Jane1284 you got pregs naturally with AMH 3.5?? Wow that is giving hope what luck!

I was 3.5 AMH and since then I have taken all the supplements to help me, I don't know if my new AMH result will have changed now after 6 months. I feel like I have wasted a whole year with cancelled IVF cycles due to Ied, cysts, holidays and upcoming Xmas the regret has been eating away at me realising this and terrible decisions that were not educated. I wish I had educated myself more about the IVF process I would have just started the whole thing January this year in London instead of trying to do it overseas and juggling that. SIgh!!

bloss0mx · 18/10/2023 11:42

Hi @RarePlant - 4 months ago and they've still not told you your results? 😵 I was hoping to start in Dec as still waiting on my withdrawal bleed then period but been reading about the closures too 🙁 my amh is 1.4 so definitely need to get moving! We're drawn to King's because of their prices and refunds if successful but scared their protocol is like the NHS cycles. Also considering Lister now... so hard to decide!

RarePlant · 18/10/2023 11:57

@bloss0mx I honestly worry about their protocol being too standard like the NHS ones too. Right now their admin is giving me NHS vibes I can't even get a comprehensive email explaining the next steps to simply schedule an initial consultation!! Can I just bypass this back and forth emailing, omg.
