I'm currently onto miscarriage 12, I'm looking into going private and looking at Dr Gorgy or Dr Shehata's clinic.

Has anyone got any experience of either of these two clinics. I've exhausted all NHS testing available and I'm at a loss.

Sorry to hear of all your losses. I am on my 9th mc and am 36. Have exhausted all the nhs tests and in the same position as you, I am in Sheffield though and worried about all the travel that may be necessary to London if go with dr gorgy or shehata. There is the option of the Coventry research clinic but feel that doesn’t offer as many options in terms of treatment. I know you posted back in April so wondered if you had got any further with it? Miraculously I do have a 4 year old son which I think is why it was assumed I was just unlucky but the more I read the more I am convinced I have high nk cells x

I went to Dr Gorgy for a full suite of testing before my first IVF (which led to my second DS) and am currently using him for immune support. I'm cycling with a different clinic.

I'd say the testing is excellent - he found a genetic predisposition to Type II diabetes (and I developed gestational diabetes in my second pregnancy) and also looked at things like thyroid and ANA incase of undiagnosed health issues that could be affecting fertility.

He has been a lifesaver for me, personally, but this is because he is willing to treat my currently-undiagnosable immune disorder empirically, and has been able to keep it under control for up to six months (between the freeze-all IVF cycle and the natural FET). As I'm pretty sure that the untreated disease is causing my infertility, as well as damaging my health/employment, this is obviously an invaluable service!

I can't comment on doing an IVF cycle there. I went to the best-performing clinic in London (CRGH) that wasn't ARGC. CRGH are great at running IVF cycles, but are pretty conservative about undiagnosed health problems causing infertility. So, they told me to come off my GP-prescribed anti-inflammatories for my upcoming cycle, which would be impossible with my disease in the state it was in February (rather like telling someone with rheumatoid arthritis or lupus to come off their meds)!

No further forward as yet. I'm waiting for all if my test results to be sent to me (which is proving a lot more difficult than I thought) then I will make an appointment with Dr Gorgy.

Hi op, I cycled with Argc but had immunes with dr Gorgy. After 4 mmcs I finally had my rainbow. I am convinced it was his treatment. I found the admin side chaotic and didn’t want to do ivf there but felt immunes side worked well. Best of luck !

Thank you!! Congrats on your baby!! I have an embryo on ice at my clinic so I wouldn't be doing ivf there, but looking for treatment.

@Ralowi messafe unicorn9 who found a way around having to travel

Ralowi · 27/07/2022 15:22

@Stargazinggal thank you ill do that

Star73 · 27/07/2022 15:51

@Ralowi I have been to the Coventry clinic for the natural killer cell testing, you have to go twice for the biopsy, ideally 2 months in a row. I think it costs ~£350. My levels came back normal, but Prof. Brosen gave me Januvia tablets to try, to see if they increase the stem cells in the lining. He also said he'd give me steroids if I get pregnant again. I am age 44 so I very much have time against me, I had previously contacted Dr Shehata's clinic, but was also put off by the travel as I already have a little girl. They said that I would have to attend in person, so I'd be interested to hear if there are options where you don't have to travel as much. If you have any questions about the Coventry clinic then I'm happy to answer them.

Ralowi · 27/07/2022 17:01

@Star73 thank you, I have since been seen by dr Shehata and I’ve just had results confirming high and active nk cells and been given a treatment plan. Unfortunately this involves intralipids every month at ovulation plus twice weekly once/if pregnant. Which I wouldn’t mind if I was actually pregnant (even though I know lots suffer losses on his plans too) but it’s so far and the drive is just painful. It’s so hard finding the time and feel it’s just not doable with my husband coming too. Not to mention childcare issues especially now it’s the summer hols. It would be ideal if you could just get the steroids, I do feel this is the main solution and I’d rather not have the intralipids tbh x

Surpise BFP, I'm 5+3 and spotting again. This test is using an afternoon urine sample.
Will use FMU in a few days.

@SamE1 congratulations! Will you be getting in touch with dr gorgy? Hoping for the best for you

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 11:53

Thank you @Ralowi, I’ll see what the next few days hold as my test today looks the same, not darker, but not lighter.

OP posts:
Ralowi · 31/07/2022 12:12

@SamE1 i would say that’s fine, you might only notice a difference over a couple of days. Try not to stress but I have been there many times with the daily testing 😫 X

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 12:18

@Ralowi it was about 36 hours apart so hoped for a stronger line. I have another CBD which I will do later next week if I don't start bleeding. It's awful how this can be normal for people, but when it's the normal for your worst case scenario it's so stressful. Xx

Test on the left is from today. 36 hours after the other. Just been to the loo and have brown clots. Sad

@SamE1 its so hard because you just don’t know, even when my lines were darker I still miscarried. My last mc did begin with some dark spotting, but that can be normal in early pregnancy too so it’s just impossible to know. Have you been advised to take anything in pregnancy or are you still awaiting the results? I’m quite similar to you in that I’ve had a lot of early miscarriages (9) and I’ve ended up finding out through dr Shehata I’ve got high and active nk cells and been prescribed prednisolone, but even
with that there’s no guarantees x

Ralowi · 31/07/2022 12:48

Ps the left test is definitely darker. Unfortunately wirh me I tend to have missed miscarriages so my hcg keeps increasing even when the heartbeat has stopped/baby not developed so I know it’s not reliable for me to test. But it entirely depends on what your history is like. With my chemicals though they faded pretty quick x

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 12:48

@Ralowi thank you for your lovely words. I started 20mg of prednisolone at BFP and I've been on progesterone pessaries since literal phase. I haven't had any further immune testing with Dr G yet as I was waiting on this period to make an app with him.

I'll hold out and do the CBD later in the week. Xx

@SamE1 dod dr gorgy prescribe the pred? I’ve been wondering if my gp round prescribe it but I guess not as it’s not licensed for pregnancy. I’m going to start on the pred, I’m waiting for dr s clinic to post them. I think I’m due to ovulate in the next few days so I need to make my mind up what I doing x

Ralowi · 31/07/2022 13:51

Meant to say *would

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 13:53

@Ralowi it was Professor Quenby in Coventry that prescribed them. I don't think a GP would, I had to drive an 8 hour round trip to Coventry get the prescription as my GP won't prescribe them. The plan was always to use them on IVF round. I wonder if I should introduce them sooner with the progesterone.

OP posts:
Ralowi · 31/07/2022 14:35

@SamE1 ah ok yes dr s wants you to take the pred and progesterone from ovulation for 10 days each cycle. I’d much rather on bfp as don’t want to be on this medication every month but that’s what he said so I guess I’ll go with it. But I am going to ignore his advice about the ovulation intralipids as I can’t be paying £380 every month and travelling 7 hours x

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 14:41

@Ralowi how many days after ovulation and what does is the pred and prog? Yeah it’s quite a distance for intralipids. I wonder if there is somewhere more local that could administer them? Xx

OP posts:
Ralowi · 31/07/2022 14:57

@SamE1 basically from ovulation so you’d need to track or take a decent guess. For 10 days and if you get a negative on an early response test then you stop and re start the following month. My pred is going to be 25mg and the progesterone is 2 pessaries a day. There is a company that send a nurse to your house which is ideal but they require a prescription and dr s won’t do one as says they need to be done in his clinic (another thing that leads me to believe the intralipids are more of a money making exercise as it’s basically soya and natural products) in his testing it did show a reduction in nk cells but so did the pred so don’t feel I need both. He told me the intralipids target the activity of the cells but I’m sure the pred does that as well x

SamE1 · 31/07/2022 15:00

@Ralowi thanks for sharing. I need to make an appointment with he clinic if things go wrong (which I am starting to think it will) I just know, if that makes sense. I'm reluctant to go to EPAU for bloods as they are awful at my Sunderland. They wouldn't recognise/acknowledge all my losses as I hadn't visited there each time as some were via ivf etc. just gotta ride it out.
