Hi ladies,

I am new to IVF and hoping to get some advise/ recommendation.

I’m 35 with a low AMH due to endometriosis. My DH’s sperm seems to be normal so looks like just female factor. We are looking to start IVF privately, did a lot of research and joined a few open evenings. We are considering going with Lister but would really like your recommendation on a consultant. Have you got any good/ bad experience with the clinic? Who would you recommend if you have similar issues like me? (Low AMH and endometriosis)

Please DM me if is negative experience and is better not to be posted on a public forum!

Many thanks in advance!

We're about to start ivf with the lister in the next few months. We've only had tests to date, no treatment, but so far so good. We're seeing Dr Bora who I liked at our initial consult. We've got male factor and I have PCOS.

HelloKittyGirl · 29/01/2022 21:43

I have a Lister baby and have now been back there a while trying for another. It’s been a very positive experience overall (especially after a less good experience at another clinic). I know most of the consultants. Will DM you with you specifics.

DreamStar · 29/01/2022 23:19

Thank you @ImVFhopeful2022 and @HelloKittyGirl for your response.

I am looking to book in for an initial consultation next month. @HelloKittyGirl, would be great if you could DM me how you found the consultants.
Good Luck to you @ImVFhopeful2022! x

Hi there, did anyone take Access Fertility package with Lister? How many rounds did lead you to a successful pregnancy?
Trying to workout costs and going through the Lister price list and comparing it with Access Fertility 2 Cycle package.
Did you also do any immunology tests at Lister and were you happy with the treatment protocol etc? Thank you 😊

ImVFhopeful2022 · 07/02/2022 22:16

We're going to use the 2-round Access package. That's what our consultant advised - we asked what she'd recommend. Did your consultant give you any idea of your chances of success? That helped us make our decision.

I am going to ask about chromosomal screening too, as an extra. It hasn't been advised for us, and it's possible that I've lost perspective by this stage, but I can't face the idea of a successful ivf pregnancy that leads to a tfmr.

K8dferXdder · 07/02/2022 22:42

We are under NHS for a Frozen Embryo transfer for our last embryo and I am making a plan next if it doesn’t work. I am 40 and we have a male factor. I consulted with prof. Regan and waiting for some blood test results and follow up appointment with her - hoping she will prescribe something that will make the embryo stick! Read a lot of positive comments here about Lister, I am sure you will be in safe hands 🙌 good luck!

IPK2022 · 09/02/2022 15:43

Hi ladies, I’m considering the Lister at the moment too. @HelloKittyGirl would you mind DM’ing your recommendations for consultants too? Thanks so much

K8dferXdder · 23/02/2022 20:24

Hi all, strangely our NHS clinic can’t give us an appointment for frozen embryo transfer until June and they suggested we move the embryo to a private clinic. Tried to book an appointment with Lister but no luck so far. Wanted an appointment with dr. James but waiting for a call back from them :( I am 40, I hope it doesn’t put them off calling me back.

HelloKittyGirl · 23/02/2022 20:45

Oh it definitely won’t. 40 is nothing at The Lister.

NilesandFrasier · 24/02/2022 21:50

Hey there! First time posting on here- I would also really appreciate any recommendations too @HelloKittyGirl @ImVFhopeful2022 I also have Endo and have just had a failed first NHS funded attempt at Create (lots of follicles/ 2 eggs/ one mature, didn’t fertilise). Heartbroken to have fallen at the first hurdle and now wondering where to go next- was looking at Lister too as the costs seem slightly less intimidating. I have my follow up consultation tomorrow to try and find out if anything could have been done differently- I don’t know whether to build on what they have learnt at Create or if it’s better to move on to another approach?
Good luck to everyone on here, just trying to do a bit of research between bouts of uncontrollable rage, obviously 🥴

ImVFhopeful2022 · 25/02/2022 11:24

Sorry to hear your first round failed @NilesandFrasier, that must be really hard. Hope your follow-up consult sheds some light and gives you useful info if you decide to go again.

The NHS waiting lists weren't as long as we thought they'd be so I'm going to see how my weight goes over the next month and if possible we'll try that option first, so we haven't progressed with the Lister yet.

But, from my very limited experience, I would still recommend Dr Bora. We haven't had any treatment yet so my recommendation is all based on how much I liked her and trusted her during our initial consult.

They also offer free counselling, with specialist IVF counsellors, which you can access before, during or after treatment.

ReadyForTheAdventure · 25/02/2022 19:42

@NilesandFrasier
Sorry to hear your outcome.
We just had unsuccessful IVF cycle at CW ( 2 embryos transfered on day 3) and while waiting for f/up consultation to review this cycle, I'm researching on other clinics. We have unexplained fertility, although I have subclinical hypothyroidism.
How was Create? Was it St Pauls or Wimbledon? I did a scan and AMH scan at Wimbledon once after open evening, they were ok but we went with CW at the end.

Leo2202 · 13/03/2022 15:48

Hey all! I am 33 and have very low ovarian reserve (low AMH and AFC) and am also considering IVF at the Lister so just wanted to jump in on this thread to see what others experiences have been like! I had an initial consultation with Dr James Nicopoullos last week and he seemed to know his stuff. He recommend IVF with embryo banking, has anyone had any luck at the Lister with low AMH/AFC? Or does anyone have recommendation for clinics that have been successful with those of with DOR? Wasn't sure whether Create would have been worth a consul either - it's all very overwhelming!

ReadyForTheAdventure · 13/03/2022 20:00

Hi @Leo2202
I've done Open evening with Create last week, have a look on their website, they seem to run every few weeks..

Dochas12111 · 14/03/2022 09:49

Hi @Leo2202 lister were my 3rd ivf clinic and I had a very positive experience with them. I had already done 3 failed rounds of IVF and wanted a clinic who personalised to me. I did consults with ARGC and Create both suggested a standard protocol I’d read about other women on here having and I felt they weren’t taking account of my history.

Lister suggested 3 different protocols in the consult and the consultant really seemed to have read our notes and thought about it properly. I also found they were supportive of doing extra testing before putting an embryo back despite me not really meeting them criteria for those tests in terms of number of failed transfers etc. I was very happy I went with them. I did 3 rounds of embryo banking. First one was good with 3 blasts. 2nd one got cancelled day of trigger and I was pleased my own consultant called me to talk this through not just the nurses. My 3rd round only got one blastocyst but it stuck and I’m 21 weeks. I also found them proactive in coming up with a plan when all the extra tests I wanted came back with bad results.

I have low AMH and am a poor responder and we had severe male factor issues.

Dochas12111 · 14/03/2022 09:53

I should also say I found the care very good. On my 3rd round after egg collection apparently there was a girl with a similar name to me who got no eggs and my consultant thought it was me and he came straight up to our room very concerned to see if I was ok and talk to me. I thought that was very nice and caring of him.

Leo2202 · 14/03/2022 19:07

Hey @Dochas12111 thanks so much such a helpful reply! That is really reassuring and I am so happy to hear you are now 21 weeks pregnant! Also really interesting to hear you also have low AMH as that is what i was worried about in terms of IVF success. You've definitely given me the confidence to move forward with Lister.

@ReadyForTheAdventure thanks for responding, yes I have already attended the Create webinar, it was really interesting! I'm just not sure natural modified IVF is the best type of IVF to start with, possibly something to try if I respond poorly to the medicated cycle i think!

ReadyForTheAdventure · 14/03/2022 20:01

Hi @leo2202 did you have to wait long for the appointment with the consultant? I called the booking team this afternoon and secretary who answered took my details to call me back, however haven't heard back from them yet.

Wow, congratulations @dochas12111, great news!!

Leo2202 · 14/03/2022 21:34

@ReadyForTheAdventure oh that’s strange! I just emailed saying I’d like an initial consultation with a particularly consultant and got a response the next day to confirm availability. So I would def chase with an email if you don’t get a response!

snapandbang · 15/03/2022 22:53

I see Dr Parikh, she’s amazing. I’m over 40 and she isn’t phased by that. Super helpful. So far all lovely treatment by the staff there Smile

Leo2202 · 16/03/2022 15:53

@snapandbang that's so good to know, thank you for sharing your experiences; it's definitely helped me make a decision!

snapandbang · 16/03/2022 20:17

You’re welcome, good luck with your TTC journey!

K8dferXdder · 22/07/2022 21:41

Hi all, wanted to see how everyone is progressing with Lister? I recently had a missed miscarriage after a FET with Lister :( waiting for my follow up consultation next week with Dr. James Nicopoullos to see when we can start a fresh Icsi cycle. We have a male factor and I am currently 40. Previously he suggested Long protocol, has anyone had good results with the long protocol?
Fingers crossed for all of us in this so difficult journey🤞

hoping2021 · 27/07/2022 12:08

I have been at the Lister for a few years now.
I think I've met most of the consultants now and they are all excellent. I am under the care of Dr Thum. He is an excellent doctor, interested in research so knows all the latest research data about what works and what doesn't. But willing to try new things if he thinks its important for the patient (i.e. me).
He also takes a holistic approach, which I appreciated. He knows what the patient can handle, and he won't push treatment that's unwanted.
I'm in the medical profession myself, so I can recognise a talented and gifted doctor when I see one.. and Dr Thum is just that.
