Weight loss for IVF 2021/2022

I need to lose three stone to qualify for IVF. I've got one to lose for my referral and two more after that for treatment.
Creating this for myself and for others who might want to buddy up!

Another weigh in, I’m up 2.4lbs. Seriously on the verge of just giving up!

Hope everyone is ok.

WeightlossKin · 02/07/2022 18:31

Oh no! Are you still following your plan @Lauralozzle ? Do you know why you've had a gain? How frustrating.

I've just got back from a bit of time away and have essentially eaten everything for three days. I'm not weighing myself tomorrow because I'd be weighing it about half a stone extra I think 😳 just in carb weight! Won't weigh until a week tomorrow.

@WeightlossKin My diet hasn’t been great but I really haven’t had the evening snacks I used to have. I think I need to keep an eye out on calorie intake, which I’ve been a bit lax about!

I hope you enjoyed your time away!

WeightlossKin · 04/07/2022 19:17

I had a fab time away thank you!
Back to being super strict this week. I've got my first consultation with our hospital fertility specialist on Friday 😳🫣 it's only an initial appointment and will result in me being too overweight to go any further but I'm excited to find out what IS "further" and it'll give me a great big kick up the ass hopefully to do 100% of whatever I can to lose this weight.

How's your food been today @Lauralozzle ?
When is your next appointment?

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 04/07/2022 19:19

Sorry @Lauralozzle I lost my senses 🤦 you did say it was in about six weeks to check prolactin/thyroid levels! So I guess about 5 weeks away!

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 05/07/2022 07:03

@WeightlossKin food yesterday was kinda meh. Keep at it, I suppose!

its exciting you have your appointment! Then you know what next steps are and there might be some tests they can do in the meantime.

Blood tests for me are next week on Wednesday. I’ll ring doctors on the following Monday to make appointment to discuss levels and see what they’re going to do/what endo said. Then I’ve got to let IVF clinic know, but starting depends on my levels. If my medication needs increasing it’ll be another 6 week wait for further blood tests.

WeightlossKin · 05/07/2022 18:40

It's super hard but stick with it! You're so close. Has today been any better?

I'm annoyed as I've realised my period is due Friday so I won't be able to have the internal scan AND I'll weigh a few pounds extra 🤦 wonder if I can ask them not to weigh me? I know I'm over the weight I should be, does it really matter how MUCH over I am? 😂 Wishful thinking probably.

Hopefully your bloods show good things and there isn't another six weeks of messing around with meds 🤞 how are you doing on your thyroid meds? Do you think they're helping?

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 09/07/2022 08:08

Weigh in this morning. Up 0.8lbs. Period is due tomorrow, had pink cm yesterday so it might be down to that. I’ve not eaten loads, but I haven’t been drinking enough water and I feel like a swollen mess in this weather so… might have something to do with it.

@WeightlossKin I do think the thyroid meds are helping, maybe not with weight loss but I do feel better within myself and I’m not horribly tired anymore. Didn’t realise how tired I was until I’ve stopped feeling so tired.

How did your appointment go?

WeightlossKin · 09/07/2022 08:57

That's frustrating! @Lauralozzle , hopefully due to your period and the hot weather as it does make us retain water doesn't it?
I'm very interested in my period and my weight and correlation. Official weigh day for me tomorrow after a week of 800 calories or less everyday and I've woken up on my period today so...I'll expect a similar gain I guess 🙄🤦
Anyway! Thank you for asking. My appointment was okay. I don't need a hycosy or laparoscopy or anything else. No meds to try. No Metformin. No other tests of any kind for either of us. It's straight to IVF and there isn't a waiting list unless you include the 2ish stone I need to lose! Idk how I feel about that, exactly how you would expect I guess.

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 10/07/2022 11:28

I think this weather and period bloat have not helped! Must drink more water though, I really haven’t had enough!

@WeightlossKin I suppose at least you know the plan now, though it’s a bit rubbish they can’t try anything else in the meantime.

Be careful on 800 cals a day, I would be seriously hungry eating just that.

WeightlossKin · 10/07/2022 13:05

Definitely drink more water, especially when it's super hot and when periods are here! It feels unfair that between the temperature, periods, ovulation bloat and hormonal cravings we've got this challenge to lose weight consistently.

I don't think 800 calories a day is safe either but the fast800 diet says it's fine for up to 12 weeks?! Tbf after a couple of days I stopped being hungry. That being said, I've not even lost 1lb this week. Hoping that IS because of my period because if I can't lose weight on 800 calories a day there's literally no hope for me!
I've given myself a sensible target of end of October for the weight loss... We shall see I guess 🙁 I'm feeling very disheartened and hormonal.

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 17/07/2022 09:20

1lb loss for me this week. Just ticking along. I have done zero exercise though so that's not helped. It's just been far too hot!
How is everyone else getting along?

@WeightlossKin well done on your loss this week!

Had a bit of a restart. New weigh in is on Mondays. I’ve restarted couch 2 5 k. Kinda hoping to see a little loss this week as I was a few lbs down mid week but I’ve had 3 good days, 3 not so great days (takeaway 1 day, doughnut and half a packet of share bag skittles another day and birthday bbq for my mum one day which involved quite a lot of cider and quite a lot of cake!).

I have made an effort with my steps though, and apart from the massive blip Friday/Saturday this week has not been terrible. Today im back on plan 100%

Had my blood tests this week so will ring doctors tomorrow to discuss results, whatever they are!

WeightlossKin · 17/07/2022 22:11

Oh I like a restart! I think they're really helpful in drawing a line under any eating that hasn't gone well. Goodluck for weigh in tomorrow 🤞
The doughnut and skittles day is neither here nor there; it doesn't sound that bad 😊 let me know how you get on! Well done for getting back on it!

Hope your results go well and the GP has looked at them - are you able to see them on the NHS app?

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 18/07/2022 09:30

@WeightlossKin So, weigh in this morning I’m down 5lbs! BMI is now at 30.0 according to my scales.

My app doesn’t show blood test results, I think I need to ask for access to my coded record or something.

WeightlossKin · 18/07/2022 10:11

😱 that's amazing! Well done @Lauralozzle absolutely smashing it. Just shows those blips didn't undo all your hard work.
Fingers tightly crossed for your test results showing sufficient improvement so you can move forward!

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 18/07/2022 10:41

@WeightlossKin It sounds good but I’ve been gaining and losing the same 5lbs for a year! Haha
I do feel motivated and ‘in the zone’ at the moment which I’m hoping will continue!

Can’t ring doctors until after 3 if it’s about blood test results but will call them then. please please please let them be normal!!!!

WeightlossKin · 18/07/2022 15:14

Well what matters is getting there in the end! 😊
Having to wait until after 3 is annoying, I hope they've actually looked at them. Everything crossed for you!

MrsBiddy · 18/07/2022 18:26

Hi all,

I am currently trying to lose 5st to get to a bmi of 30

🥺 quite overwhelming but I hope this group gives me some hope and encouragement xx

WeightlossKin · 18/07/2022 19:07

Welcome @MrsBiddy !
It's a terribly overwhelming place to be isn't it? Definitely just take it a bit at a time and break it down into smaller chunks of you can. Little milestones are much more achievable 😊
Are you following a particular method for losing weight?

I had 6 stone to lose and it's taken my a year+ to get here but I've got 2 stone left to lose. You can do it! But none of us can do it all at once.

OP posts:
MrsBiddy · 18/07/2022 19:23

@WeightlossKin

Thank you for the welcome 🤗

Yeah I am taking it a stone at a time x

I'm doing 1:1 diet, i have an under active thyroid and pcos 😣 so struggle a lot and find doing some meal replacement with a 400cal evening meal much easier and have lost 4lbs so far

Well done on your weight loss 👏

Xx

WeightlossKin · 18/07/2022 19:53

That's great that you're 4lbs in already and you've got a plan!
If you can do the 1:1 diet you can do anything I think 😊 it can't be easy and must take so much willpower. Hopefully knowing that will give you a boost. How often do you weigh yourself whilst doing that?

OP posts:
MrsBiddy · 18/07/2022 20:08

@WeightlossKin

Ah thank you 😊

I weigh myself once a week on a Saturday

😊

Lakyta1717 · 18/07/2022 21:37

Hello all! Welcome @MrsBiddy I'm in the same boat as you, about 5 stone still to go. But am 2.5stone down so far. It's incredibly daunting, but this chat has definitely helped me.

I've been MIA recently, a lot going on and haven't been in a great head space, so have been reading but not joining.

@WeightlossKin and @Lauralozzle well done on your weight losses! Hope you managed to get your results @Lauralozzle and that they were what you hoped for.

I'm suffering in this heat, am walking to work but cannot do any other exercise, currently sat watching love island with cool packs on my neck and head 😂
However, I've been listening to a sleep hypnosis and don't know if it's psychosomatic but I've definitely been snacking and picking less, so going to keep the going and see if it does help. Part of me thinks it's just cause I'm always less hungry in the heat. But who knows?! I'm willing to give it a go and see what happens!

WeightlossKin · 19/07/2022 14:06

@Lakyta1717 hi! How are things now, are they getting any better to let you get your mind in the right place? It's so hard isn't it because it's never the only thing in life you have to deal with (I can't imagine how much easier it would be if it was!).
2.5 stone down is amazing 😊 you're on your way. Well done continuing to walk to work as I'm not even able to do that I'm finding it too hard! Hypnosis podcasts have really helped me stop snacking, I do think it really helps and thought it was hogwash before.
