@CarpeDiem75 thats okay that is what the group is for, fire away any questions/concerns I am sure we will all help you along this journey.

It’s not easy but it will be worth it 😊

I'm a patient with Dr Duran and just finished egg retrieval, waiting to do transfer shortly. I am really greatful to have her as my consultant as she has been so impatient with me in each of our sessions and she takes the time to answer questions. I am hoping to receive positive news after our transfer.

In terms of cost, CRGH are so expensive but they are efficient in their processes and in their approach and I have always felt like I'm in a safe space and receiving treatment and support from knowledgeable specialists (which was really not at all my experience with the NHS).

If anyone has any other qs on crgh, I'm more than happy to share. Goodluck ladies!! Babydust to us all xx

@Chocolate18 thank you so much she was in my top 3 consultants but decided to go with Dr Ali has he has interest in unexplained infertility!
How long did it take from your first consultation to the start of the treatment?
Were you able to say no to some of the tests or exams they were asking you to do? Hope everything goes well for you😊

My baby journey has already been quite long as we started with a few rounds of IUI on 2021 and failed unfortunately. We are now in our first IVF cycle with them. In terms of tests, I did them all with CRGH as it was my first time doing the key tests such as hycosy etc. The one thing I had done with the NHS was the initial blood test and they used this information at the very beginning of my journey.

Thank you all. I am a bit worried with the price now because we have unknown infertility issues the doctor told me I would do some genetics testing on my blastocyst and then wait for the results and do a frozen transfer the following month. So I am upset because at my age a 3 month delay to start treatment is a lot... And now I am worried of the price and that my partner is going to pull the plug on the whole thing 😭 if I can't do a fresh transfer I am not sure how much I have to pay in total !!!

@CarpeDiem75
I done IVF at CRGH in January this year and my baby boy is now 5 weeks old. We went through access fertility and got 2 rounds which included egg retrieval, scans, bloods, unlimited transfers and 1 year of embryo storage which was £11,950. We then had to pay extra for medications and then travel there was £25 a time on the train so deffo take this into account as I was up there a lot! We only used 1 round and our first fresh transfer worked but knowing we had another cycle as back up was reassuring. We ended up spending near 20k in total but this could have been reduced if we had ordered drugs from other places.
CRGH were always helpful and I just called if needed anything or had any questions. The only thing is It's easy to get caught out into paying for extras that aren't necessarily needed so just watch out for that. I ended up having the endometrial scratch which was extra and Once I was pregnant I got a scan included and at the end of the scan they said oh we will book you in for another scan in 2 weeks time but I knew that the package only included the one scan so I questioned it and the extra would have been £200 which I could get done at a local ultrasound place for £60 and not have to pay the travel.

Hope everything goes well xx

CarpeDiem75 · 31/10/2022 15:09

@Bec18x thank you for your feedback. What was included in the original £11k? What was the difference between £11k and £20k? Just the medications? Where else can you get the medications cheaper from do you think? Thank you so much in advance!!

Bec18x · 31/10/2022 16:18

@CarpeDiem75 So included in access fertility was the egg collection, transfer, scans, bloods, consultation, ICSI, embryo storage for 1 year and all appointments for £11,950.
Before we started IVF I had a dummy transfer, 3D SIS and endometrial scratch so I had to pay out for that directly to the clinic and also the initial consultation with the clinic so that added around £2000.
The medication we just got through pharmasure which was the one the clinic used and was delivered to our house but you can just get a prescription and get it in a different pharmacy such as Asda which does cut the cost.
Medication cost was around £3600.
Then I factored my travel in aswell as I had to get a London’s travel pass each time so £300 on travel.
Sometimes I would have to buy one off bits of medication from the clinic if I was going to run out before my next delivery so little bit here and there.
Hope that helps xx

CarpeDiem75 · 31/10/2022 22:54

@Bec18x yes thanks it does help a lot!! Would you say that the things included in the Access Fertility price would have come up way more expensive if you had to pay directly to the clinic? It a good saving for you to go through them overall ? I am planning to contact them tomorrow so I can have some rough idea for my treatment! Not sure when CRGH. Is going to give me a quote! I feel like buying a house was a bit more straight forward !!🤦🏼‍♀️xx

Bec18x · 01/11/2022 02:47

@CarpeDiem75 it depends how many cycles you need and if you need ICSI etc as there are lots of add ons. I just thought that for that price if the first cycle fails or I don’t get any eggs etc then I’ve got another go and won’t need to worry about paying again individually for things. Definitely look at both and see what works best for you. We took out money on our mortgage to pay for it so we had a budget that we needed to stick to as wouldn’t have been able to afford it so it did help up with that as I knew exactly how much is was before we started xx

CarpeDiem75 · 01/11/2022 07:39

@Bec18x thank you! That's the same for us we have a budget so I will phone them up today and see what they can offer and then will make a decision! I am worried because they are pushing for the PGT A test on blastocyst but it takes the whole cost to a whole new level as you can't basically use your fresh transfer in that case have to pay for a FET once the results are in. I can't afford that... so I think we will have to stick a stick with a fresh one and hope for best!

When you speak to Access ask the about other clinics ie City Fertility. You might not be able to afford things at CRGH that you can at other clinics. One of the reasons I am going for PGTA is cos if doing more than one transfer it will be cheaper than a failed transfer. ie no point paying transfer costs if it's chromosmally abnormal and will fail anway. (Gosh it's so strange and crude talking so bluntly about money when it comes down to something so important as a whole knew person coming into being!!!!)

My understanding is that other clinics could offer PGTA at something like £1500 ie pretty equivalent to the cost of a transfer.

Also double check re 3 month wait for FET. I plan to have this, but am not aware of 3 month wait.
