Hello,
Anyone starting their IVF treatment at CRGH?

What made you choose CRGH? I’m being treated (medicated cycles and TI) at Fertility Plus and if this cycle fails our next step is IVF. Fertility Plus is pretty expensive and a flat fee regardless of meds, so I’d like a consultation at another clinic. If we’re recommended a protocol with lower medication costs we’d be better off elsewhere.

Did you have to have tests done at CRGH before your consultation or did they take recent results from other clinics? I’d also like to have a consultation at my “local” (it’s closer but not that local) clinic too to compare. Nervous about going on public transport on stims and I could drive to my local clinic. I’m double vaxxed but assume a cycle gets cancelled if you get covid?

Bellwells · 04/10/2021 21:13

Hey @bmachine @kennetrose, I chose CRGH over Guy's because of the Stats and wait times.
I've not had an issue with CRGH at all, my calls are always answered, and they always email me when they say they will.
My appointment with CRGH is 3rd Nov, but I didn't pick my consultant, I was given someone as I am doing PGD on the NHS.
I'm waiting for AF to make an appearance so that I can get my testing done (I came off the mini pill 3 weeks ago and have to have 2 AF's before I can have any tests done), but I am not able to answer the question about if they take recent results from other clinics as I have never been to another clinic. I'm double Vaxxed too but yes if you get covid your cycle does get cancelled.

Bellwells · 16/10/2021 22:39

DH just signed all of the paperwork sent electronically, looking forward to our first appointment with Sara in 2.5 weeks.
We can have our testing done next month too once AF makes an appearance which is also exciting!

How is everyone getting on?
What stage are you all at now?

TurquoiseVixen · 16/10/2021 23:37

I can't promise they take results for all tests from other clinics, but they definitely take in-date results for standard tests, such as blood, urine, semen analysis tests. The nurse with whom I had an appointment had a look at the notes I have from a cycle at guys, and a few of my tests were still ok as they were done less than a year ago. I will have to re-do other ones which need to be less than 3 month or which I was missing. For these CRGH said I can do them elsewhere, even using nhs (I am self-finding at crgh), which is good as it is definitely cheaper!

Hey how is everyone getting on @Beingamom @dreamersdown @bmachine @kennetrose @JemInher40s @TurquoiseVixen @mouse1234567

JemInher40s · 22/11/2021 13:48

I have my initial consultation in two weeks.Smile

kennetrose · 22/11/2021 16:11

are appointments usually with doctors or nurses?

We haven't made any decisions on clinics yet. I've had to take this cycle off as I had a hysteroscopy and polypectomy the other week. I have a consultation at Fertility Plus on 3 December so I'm going to see what my doctor there recommends before making any decisions. Wish I could just fast forward until my appointment.

Bec18x · 22/11/2021 20:50

Hi hope it's ok to join. I'm starting my ivf at CRGH. I had my consultation a few weeks ago and just waiting for my period to show up which should be in the next couple of days so I can book in for scans, bloods etc. Hopefully we will then be able to start the IVF on my next cycle.

Bellwells · 22/11/2021 23:06

@JemInher40s oh how exciting I hope all goes well!

@kennetrose I’m not sure to be honest but I think it is a mixture of both based on your situation.

@Bec18x Heyy welcome!! Oh lovely that is nice and quick, I hope all goes well let us know when you get your start date.

I’ve had my PGD consultation and my fertility tests done now, so I am just waiting on my fertility consultant to discuss medication etc which is next Tuesday, then I guess I am going to have a bit of a wait till the funding for the new financial year in April comes through

JemInher40s · 23/11/2021 08:23

I've not heard of Fertility Plus. I must Google them.

@Bellwells How did you find your initial consultation? I've cycled before at another clinic but looking to transfer to CRGh due to their specialism and they do abdominal egg retrieval which is rare to find. One of my ovaries is inaccessible vaginally.
I've had some recent bloods on the NHS and going to get thyroid done medichecks.
Not gonna lie the fees at CRGH scare me. Realistically I'll only be able to do one cycle as I've read it can total up to £9-15k depending on what's needed.

Bellwells · 23/11/2021 15:35

@JemInher40s my consultation with the PGD consultant was okay. DH and I did feel that they kept asking the same sort of questions (but wording it differently) to make sure we wanted this (I don't know if that is normal for their NHS patients).

The fee’s at CRGH are crazy I am glad I was referencing as a NHS PGD patient as otherwise we would have been looking at £20K +medication with them.

Have you visited one of their online open evenings yet?

I know, the costs are eye watering but they get good results. With my last clinic I paid just over 6k for two cycles but only did one with them.
You're extremely lucky that you get to have a go via NHS. I was turned down due to AMH and FSH.
I'd love to go abroad but DP doesn't want to and I think this is the best clinic for me in the UK, aside from cost!!

Yes, I went to one of their open evenings beginning of the year and went again last wed! DR Saab facilitated last week.

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 11:33

Hi all, I am trying to book a first appointment with CRGH. But I am wondering how much in average you paid for one cycle? We will be self funded so I am worried about money and see if we can afford it at all!
Also have anybody dealt with Dr Duran there? Thanks!!

dreamersdown · 17/10/2022 12:15

@CarpeDiem75 entirely depends on what a “cycle” means to you. Are you talking about all testing, egg retrieval, fertilisation and transfer etc? Or are you talking frozen transfer cycle?

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 12:19

@dreamersdown I am talking more the first round so I guess a fresh transfer 😊 with all the appointments medications and whatever extra they ask for!
Also if there is a possibility to say no to some of the tests they ask for? I would hate to have to putmyself though another hycosy for example...worst torture of my life! Thank you!!

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 13:58

@dreamersdown also would you be able to let meet know the blood tests to be done before the start? I am going to get as many done on the NHS!! Thanks!

Bellwells · 17/10/2022 15:04

Hey @CarpeDiem75 i think it will be best to contact the finance team for a realistic figure as it also depends in if you want you embryos pgt-a tested.

I’m under the NHS and I know that for 1 round including all testings, consultations, scans, meds, PGT-A and PGT-M testing, - would be approx £20k

dreamersdown · 17/10/2022 15:12

I can’t advise on the blood tests as don’t know your situation but I’d budget up and around to £11k for a fresh transfer round - check their pricing page and contact finance (quite helpful) for up to date pricing crgh.co.uk/pricelist/. They do accept some NHS tests as long as they are within a specific timeframe - getting them done within that timeframe on the NHS is another issue though!

dreamersdown · 17/10/2022 15:14

This however doesn’t include meds or any embryo testing, complexities including ICSI etc - so definitely worth speaking to them!

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 16:11

@dreamersdown thank you so much! I have my first appointment in a couple of weeks so we will ask then! 😊

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 16:11

@Bellwells what are these tests for on the embryo? Is that to check their quality? Thanks

Bellwells · 17/10/2022 17:56

@CarpeDiem75 PGT-A looks at the chromosomes of them embryo PGT-M looks at genetic conditions/mutations (if your avoiding passing a genetic condition/mutation to you kids)

bmachine · 17/10/2022 19:05

They accepted my nhs bloods as long as they were done recently and also accepted cheaper tests done via medichecks ...I also got meds from asda which were cheaper. But it still cost us an arm and a leg..not a cheap clinic by any standards!!

CarpeDiem75 · 17/10/2022 20:33

@Bellwells thanks for the explanation! Sorry I am new to all this!!
@bmachine thank you! Yes that's good to know that Asda is cheap! That's my plan whatever exams they ask for I will try to check around before saying yes to them!
