Congratulations @GemmTryTTC, 8 is a good number.💜

And tentative congratulations @itsmschanandlerbong - fingers crossed for tomorrow 💜

itsmschanandlerbong · 15/06/2021 16:55

@Scirocco @GemmTryTTC thank you, I'm trying not to get my hopes up until I know for sure tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I got scanned and even though it's super early they saw what looks like an early yolk sac, which is promising. They'll scan me again next week to check progression.

It looks like we also found the cause of the pain and low blood pressure... My ovaries are really, really swollen, with large cysts, ruptured cysts and lots (I mean lots!) of free fluid. So basically mild OHSS that wasn't diagnosed pre-transfer and has been kind of turbo-charged a bit by hCG. Conservative management and repeat scans to come. Oh, and another clinical opinion that lower stims for longer would have been safer and possibly more effective than a 9-day bombardment...

florafoxtrot · 15/06/2021 17:01

Oh wow @Scirocco - that is a huge amount to process. Amazing news on the yolk sac though, that's great progress of the wee embie!

I'm sorry about the OHSS though. I hope it passes soon and that you aren't in too much pain.

GemmTryTTC · 15/06/2021 17:20

@Scirocco congrats! I’m guessing lots of rest now! I know somebody that went through IVF, ended up with moderate OHSS in the er and was pregnant with twins, all was good at the end! Let yourself be pampered this days 😊

ally99101 · 15/06/2021 17:36

Glad to hear your mostly positive news @Scirocco, hope you're feeling better soon

itsmschanandlerbong · 15/06/2021 18:49

@Scirocco glad to hear what they found was reassuring, must be a relief in some ways, minus the cysts etc of course. Did they say if it would just settle on its own? And I'm glad they're following up, it sounds like they know what they're doing.

OP posts:
2mumlife · 15/06/2021 19:16

@Scirocco That's reassuring and hopefully the fluid will clear.

@itsmschanandlerbong Tentative congratulations! Is it POAS or bloods for you tomorrow?

florafoxtrot · 15/06/2021 20:02

Eeeeek @itsmschanandlerbong! I missed your post! Tentatively congratulations! I hope you can manage a little sleep tonight. Fingers crossed for the morning.

Scottishrunner · 15/06/2021 20:25

Lots of good news today! Congratulations @itsmschanandlerbong and good to hear they got to the bottom of things @Scirocco, hope you feel better soon

itsmschanandlerbong · 15/06/2021 20:43

@2mumlife POAS tomorrow, I don't think my clinic offer bloods.

Thanks for all of the support ladies, I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight! So anxious 🙈🙈

Well done @GemmTryTTC for surviving egg collection, 8 is a decent number!

Eeeek good luck for tomorrow @itsmschanandlerbong !!!

Sorry you are suffering @Scirocco, but at least you know what it is now so hopefully they can manage it.

Scirocco · 15/06/2021 23:34

Thanks everyone, should settle with conservative management (rest, fluids, analgesia). Small risk of future adhesions because of the degree of inflammation but generally reassuring.

itsmschanandlerbong · 16/06/2021 07:54

So I got another faint positive this morning! Don't know what is going on 🤦‍♀️ I'm hoping it will get darker 🤞🏻🤞🏻 it's hard to get excited. There is definitely a pink line there but it is faint 🙈

OP posts:
2mumlife · 16/06/2021 08:12

@itsmschanandlerbong Will clinic arrange a bloods test if its faint? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

GemmTryTTC · 16/06/2021 11:15

Got a call this morning from the clinic, from the 8 collected, 8 were mature and 7 fertilised, which are quite good numbers!!! One bit of anxiety done, now to wait for Fridays update to see how many are surviving and doing ok, and Monday for the last update! This is a rollercoaster 🎢

2mumlife · 16/06/2021 11:54

@GemmTryTTC Great day 1 update! Fingers crossed for your Day 3 update

ally99101 · 16/06/2021 12:45

Hi all

An update on costs for anyone who might find this useful

I got quotes from Asda, fertility2u and Ali's pharmacy (one that came up when googled 'buy fertility drugs') so these are the quotes for each (based on my prescription of course)...

Asda
Menopur 1200 - £288
Menopur 600 - £144
Fyremadel - £19.35 each
Suprecur (buserlin) - £31 (min pack 2)
30 X 5mg norethisterone - £5

Fertility 2u
Menopur 1200 - £400
Menopur 600 - £200
Fyremadel - £29 each
Suprecur (buserlin) - £19.92
30 X 5mg norethisterone - £3.90

Stork
Menopur 1200 - £400
Menopur 600 - £200
Fyremadel - £29 each
Suprecur (buserlin) - £44
30 X 5mg norethisterone - £6.90
Refrigerated delivery - £52

Ali's pharmacy
Menopur 1200 - £360
Menopur 600 - £180
Fyremadel - £30 each
Suprecur (buserlin) - £20
30 X 5mg norethisterone - £5

So..Asda are the clear winners in terms of price. For my prescription the total would have been:
Asda £1100 (plus 250 prescription fee)
Stork £1625
Fertility 2u £1545 (plus 250 prescription fee)
Ali's pharmacy £1465 (plus 250 prescription fee)

So not a lot between the 3 private companies. Fertility2u and Ali's doesn't include delivery which is £50 with stork so assuming you add roughly the same price for that they would all probably be within £100 of each other, but with stork still the most expensive.

For us personally, wife talked me into just going with stork when they called yesterday (before I had the Asda quote) on the basis this is our first round so to take the stress etc out of making sure we order the right things at the right time etc to just go with them. Yes I would have liked to save some money but we had the money budgeted for it and GCRM had already sent the prescription so we just figured first go let's just go with Stork.

Also have to keep in mind private prescription cost if your clinic charges for this. Looking at GCRM's price list they have a £250 fee for private prescriptions. If we had gone elsewhere we'd have to add that on which would have made fertility2u and ali's more expensive than stork but Asda would still have been around £275 cheaper.

So moral of the story, get a quote from Asda and if you have time and ordering yourself won't add too much extra stress/worry/effort, then it might be worth doing yourself and saving a few hundred pounds!

2mumlife · 16/06/2021 15:17

@ally99101 Interesting thank you for doing the sums!

itsmschanandlerbong · 16/06/2021 20:17

So I took another test this afternoon, a different brand, clear blue this time. Another faint positive. Hoping it's still kind of early (10dp5dt) and it darkens over the next couple of days. So much anxiety and stress!

OP posts:
itsmschanandlerbong · 16/06/2021 20:19

@GemmTryTTC that's fantastic numbers! Congrats!

OP posts:
2mumlife · 17/06/2021 07:50

So.... this morning 6dp5dt I had some weird brown discharge, so I did a FRER, and...ITS POSITIVE! I really can't believe it, after 4 IUIs and a fresh transfer, I've never once seen that little pink line, but its definitely there Shock

My official blood test isn't until Monday, so I'm just hoping everything keeps going the right direction. I've read so much about CP and things, but I'm just so relieved to have actually got this far, I have NEVER in my previous cycles even actually got the point of going for the blood test - my period has always started before then and we don't live in Glasgow any more, so I always told GCRM could I just POAS and confirm its negative which they've allowed.

2mumlife · 17/06/2021 07:51

I've always told DP if I ever get to going in for the actualy blood test it'll be because its worked!

Hopewishprayer · 17/06/2021 08:14

Hi ladies, so I found out yesterday that my AMH is low at 3.9 pool/l - have consultation next week to discuss. At the moment I’m nit really sure what that means and even if ivf will be an option for me - tried google but so much conflicting information.
I wondered if anyone on here has proceeded with ivf with a low amh? What was your experience?
@2mumlife
thats amazing news you must be so happy! All the best for your blood test Monday!

2mumlife · 17/06/2021 08:19

@Hopewishprayer Thank you! It just feels a bit surreal (but happy!). I've got normal AMH for age, but I've heard a lot of other ladies talking about AMH. It seems like one of the most important factors is age rather than AMH, so if you're younger with a lower AMH you still have a better shot than if you're older. I've also seen a lot of ladies with lower AMH levels than you doing IVF (and some with MF issues as well) so its probably still an option. I've also seen women with a lot lower AMH levels than me get more eggs at EC! Its a massive lottery this. I'm sure there will be someone else with low AMH who can give more advice than I can.
