Embryo Banking Support Thread / PGS wait

1000 replies

ForeverAintEnough · 18/11/2020 14:19

Hi all, I’ve just name changed but I’ve been on here loads and chatting to many of you under different user names ( irrational fear of being outed!). I wondered if there was interest in a ‘no transfer happening’ group? So those doing embryo banking or PGS or whatever.

I’ve just done one round of embryo banking and found the normal threads difficult with discussion of hoping for a Christmas pregnancies etc.

We are unfortunately taking the long way round with 3 rounds and no transfer. It looks like my first transfer might not be until June 2021.

If anyone wants to jump on feel free!

About us: Me 34, DH 36, TTC 3 years. Both male and female issues. x3 rounds of IVF all failed. Moved clinic to Lister for 3 rounds of embryo banking and PGS. One round of embryo banking just finished with x3 blasts sent off for PGS testing.

Btw we have decided to do the ERA which means we delay until next month. Still nervous about the biopsy tho xxx

IslandStars · 17/09/2021 11:40

@Janefx40 Glad you’ve come to a decision, sounds like a lot of pressure since your PGS results and the saline scan sounds awful! Probably for the best to delay a month, so you can recover. Will you be able to do all 4 procedure at the same time now?

I’ve never had them, but I’ve heard they are quite often painful. I found my last transfer a bit uncomfortable, but they said it was straightforward for them to do, so think it’s just me. Smears are uncomfortable too for me.

I’ve taken my first Prednisolone today and back on the delightful pessaries. Also have a bit of time off work now, so am hoping I can get into a relaxed frame of mind. Will need to keep myself busy with walks & gardening, so I don’t go mad! Clinic said I need to be careful with Covid on these steroids, so that limits what I can do.

Janefx40 · 17/09/2021 15:18

@IslandStars good to be getting going. Gardening and walks sounds lovely tbh. I'm going to take time off too when we finally get to transfer. I know I'll obsess but think it will be easier to have time to do my googling without fitting in work and also time to distract myself in front of the tv!

I've never found smears or transfers painful - I don't usually feel them at all so I was a bit blasé going into this one! Urgh it was horrid!! I think the Emma, Alice, ERA etc will be the same as the painful bit was the thicker tube going up into the uterus and I think that's similar for this and that awful scan. After the scan he told me everything looked perfect. He looked really pleased but I was just thinking "well that was a waste of time then!!".

The things we do eh?!

Xxx

IslandStars · 17/09/2021 17:10

@Janefx40 haha I do love how we prioritise Googling over work, really annoying when I get interrupted! It will be good to take some time off for transfer though, especially when you’re doing all these procedures in the lead up.

It is strange when we get told things are ok after a procedure, like we’re waiting for bad news all the time. I felt like that about the hysteroscopy, I kept thinking if the polyp has disappeared, it will be a waste of money!

Have a good weekend, hopefully the pain starts to wear off x

Ivfhoper · 20/09/2021 13:55

Has anyone been recommended implications counselling by CRGH? I was wondering why they recommended implications counselling to me?

Janefx40 · 20/09/2021 14:40

@Ivfhoper all clinics are meant to offer counselling - it's a requirement from the HFEA who regulate the sector. ARGC are rubbish at this and don't. Guy's didn't ether when I was there.

CRGH not only recommend it but they also pay for one session or sometimes two depending what you are doing.

I had sessions and really found it useful.

Don't panic. It's not because they think you are a particularly tricky case! It is standard xxx

Hi all, previous thread owner here. I was having a bad day and stupidly rose to someone horrible on AIBU and ended up getting banned 🙈 I’ve managed to set this account up but likely will be banned again. So I wanted to hop on quickly and say if anyone wants to contact me I am on Instagram my username is annas_story25.11

@IslandStars best of luck to you on your FET. I hope this one is the one.I’ve been following the thread the entire time just haven’t been able to reply.

@Janefx40 I have had ERA/EMMA/ALICE and my clinic gave it to me under sedation so ask for that - I too would’ve found it too uncomfortable without sedation. Also if you are doing ERA and going to that wait I would ask for Emma & Alice too. I was told I had 0% good bacteria and a bad infection in the lining of my womb. Had it retested and all good now so that’s something that could also make a difference to implantation. You wouldn’t need to retest so it wouldn’t delay you any further- my results were so bad the consultant recommended it.

I’m hoping to move forward with a FET myself now soon.

Good luck to all the ladies here and like I said if I can ever help you’ll have to find me on insta! 😭

IslandStars · 21/09/2021 12:03

@Dochas1 Thanks for the kind wishes, nice to hear from you. Was thinking of tagging you a few times to see how you’re doing, but thought you might be taking a break from the board, as things do get all consuming with IVF.

Glad you’ve got all your tests out of the way and hope everything is now set up for a successful FET. Hopefully you’ll be allowed to stay on here, some of the other forums on MN are a bit of minefield, I just stay here!

My FET is tomorrow and I’m in a good mindset. I’ve had quite a lot of down days since my BFN and delay for hysteroscopy, but I’ve realised that there is no point in “protecting” myself by being pessimistic. If it doesn’t work, I’ll be devastated just as much as if I will it to work, so trying to stay hopeful. I also feel much better without the estrogen tablets, even though I’m on plenty of implantation meds.

Janefx40 · 21/09/2021 14:08

@IslandStars best of luck for tomorrow and great that you have a new attitude. I totally agree that protecting ourselves by fearing the worst doesn't make failure any easier so we may as well hope! I will have everything crossed for you!

@Dochas1 there are some strange people on these sites. I often write posts and then delete them because I'm too nervous of getting negativity from others! Like @IslandStars I pretty much stay here where it's friendly!!!

Janefx40 · 21/09/2021 14:09

Also @Dochas1 yes I am doing Emma, Alice and NK biopsy at the same time as the ERA. So glad I cancelled them for this month as the biopsy would have been today and I'm still bleeding and sore from that awful scan!

IslandStars · 21/09/2021 15:15

Thank you @Janefx40 Smile Hope your soreness settles down soon, definitely good timing to have a break before the next biopsy.

Ivfhoper · 22/09/2021 12:53

@janefx40

Thank you - your support means a lot to me.

IslandStars · 22/09/2021 16:01

Hi ladies, just a quick one to say transfer went well and I now have my little 6BB back with me. Bloods in 9 days time, but will do a frer on 7 days to prepare.

Janefx40 · 22/09/2021 16:14

Oh that's great @IslandStars how are you feeling? Oh it's exciting and terrifying all at once (and it's not even my own transfer!!!) xxx

Sophfr17 · 22/09/2021 16:42

Yeah @IslandStars! I am so happy it went well!!! Good luck with the waiting days before testing :)
Xxxx

Alwaysworried247 · 22/09/2021 18:26

Good luck @IslandStars!

IslandStars · 22/09/2021 19:37

@Janefx40 @Sophfr17 @Alwaysworried247 Thanks so much for all your encouragement ladies, i’m feeling good, I’ve done what I can at this stage, now I just have to hope that element of luck is with me this time x

Shamoo · 22/09/2021 23:35

@IslandStars best of luck, great that the transfer went well!!

IslandStars · 23/09/2021 15:55

@Shamoo Thank you Smile

Longgame21 · 24/09/2021 09:01

Best of luck @IslandStars! If you fancy something funny to watch over the next few days, Ghosts on the I player is good.

Just waiting for my PGT A results on my blasts from round 2, will be amazed if they find any normals to be honest!

IslandStars · 24/09/2021 10:07

@Longgame21 Thanks for the tip, I’m running out of things to watch so very handy Grin

Good luck with your results, hopefully this round is the lucky one. Let us know how you get on.

Longgame21 · 24/09/2021 10:33

I will do. Yes, definitely get on the comedy while waiting. The American office is fab if you haven’t seen that x

Janefx40 · 24/09/2021 14:08

@Longgame21 best of luck with the results. Ours only took about 8 days in the end so hopefully yours will be quick too!

Longgame21 · 24/09/2021 14:23

Thank you! They took 10 last time, and today is day 11. I think they had about 15 egg collections on one day, so perhaps why it’s a bit longer this time.

Janefx40 · 24/09/2021 17:29

@Longgame21 ah yes it is the luck of the draw with how busy they are. Fingers crossed. How many were sent for testing?
