Embryo Banking Support Thread / PGS wait

ForeverAintEnough · 18/11/2020 14:19

Hi all, I’ve just name changed but I’ve been on here loads and chatting to many of you under different user names ( irrational fear of being outed!). I wondered if there was interest in a ‘no transfer happening’ group? So those doing embryo banking or PGS or whatever.

I’ve just done one round of embryo banking and found the normal threads difficult with discussion of hoping for a Christmas pregnancies etc.

We are unfortunately taking the long way round with 3 rounds and no transfer. It looks like my first transfer might not be until June 2021.

If anyone wants to jump on feel free!

About us: Me 34, DH 36, TTC 3 years. Both male and female issues. x3 rounds of IVF all failed. Moved clinic to Lister for 3 rounds of embryo banking and PGS. One round of embryo banking just finished with x3 blasts sent off for PGS testing.

@IslandStars thanks so much 😊 tested again this morning and still negative so does look like it’s heading that way. The consultant doesn’t have an appointment until the end of August so let’s see what she advises and when the next round can happen. I reckon they will just put me on progesterone by injection earlier next time. A part of me wants to take a break for a few months from all this but feel it would be simply hanging over me. Best to use up the remaining 2 embryos and then call it a day.

Sophfr17 · 03/08/2021 10:09

Hi @ SarahK2000, I am very sorry that your test is negative for this transfer, you must be very disappointed :(
As you said, it is likely that they will put you on progesterone earlier this time, likely 5 days before the transfer. It may be very beneficial.
You seem to be in a positive state of mind, despite the circumstances, which is very good. Take some time for yourself and try again in a few months if you prefer, your other embryos are safe where they are.

Take care xxx
Sophie.

IslandStars · 03/08/2021 13:31

@SarahK2000 Sorry it’s not better news. You have some time until your review to decide how quickly you feel you can transfer again, at the moment, your mind and emotions will be all over the place.

Sophfr17 · 06/08/2021 09:18

Hello everyone! Update on yesterday scan, both are doing well so far, tiny relief for us, we feel hopeful. But the road is long as the Drs said, with the risks of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome and Intrauterine Growth Restriction (they share 1 placenta), which can both happen anytime, I need some scans every 1-2 weeks. So, so far so good, but step by step 🙂
Take care all xxx

IslandStars · 06/08/2021 10:25

@Sophfr17 Hello, great news, that is a relief. There is just so much extra to worry about with twins, plus your own health concerns, but small steps is all it takes and everything is looking good so far Smile

SarahK2000 · 06/08/2021 19:51

@Sophfr17 was thinking of you. That’s great news 😊 best wishes for a continued healthy pregnancy. Step by step as you say.

Longgame21 · 09/08/2021 09:59

Hi everyone, hope you are ok! My last cycle got abandoned as I wasn’t responding well, so have had to wait 6 weeks to start again, so annoying!

@SarahK2000 I was so sorry to see your post, that’s so hard. Remember, you are still in a really good place in terms of chances on this. Your post also resonated to me about coping at work and the toll this is taking on you, I feel that too. It’s a really traumatic thing to go through and keep going. I see a counsellor who I find helpful. Sending hugs xx

@IslandStars it must be time for your hysteroscopy now and to get going again? Best of luck xx

@Sophfr17 so exciting, glad the pregnancy is progressing well ❤️❤️❤️

Take care everyone xx

IslandStars · 09/08/2021 11:40

@Longgame21 Thank you, i finally have just 2 weeks to go, so cannot wait to get started again soon after.

Will you have a different protocol this time around? Was wondering if your counsellor is part of your clinic? I'd been thinking about speaking to mine, but am unsure of the process. Is it just a case of them listening to your thoughts/worries, or have they been able to offer some constructive advice?

Longgame21 · 11/08/2021 08:28

Not long now then @IslandStars. Hope the wait hasn’t sent you round the bend. I actually see a counsellor privately - but Create will have one, I would definitely reach out as it will be free!

We just just talk through my concerns and fears etc and she is really helpful giving me an outside perspective and support xx

IslandStars · 11/08/2021 11:31

@Longgame21 Thanks, am trying to hang in there, but will be great to get going again!

Glad you’ve found counselling helpful, I will definitely keep it in mind. I’m ok at the moment, but if this next transfer doesn’t work, I think I’ll have to talk to someone about how to cope.

Shamoo · 11/08/2021 19:26

Will be routing for you @IslandStars

Shamoo · 11/08/2021 19:26

*rooting even 🤦‍♀️

IslandStars · 12/08/2021 11:23

Thanks @Shamoo Smile Nice to hear from you, hope everything is good and family are well.

Sophfr17 · 22/08/2021 10:47

Hi everyone!
I had a scan on Friday and both babies are growing well so far! Week 16 now. We feel very lucky. And these are boys! Doctors are happy about how they are growing, so we feel good. I have to go there so often anyway, closely monitered.
How are you all doing? Isn't your surgery next week @IslandStars? I will be thinking about you, and soon you will be able to try again 😊
How are you @Sarahk2000? Are you taking a break, or have you decided when you want to try again?
Are you starting another cycle soon @Longgame21? The wait must be difficult, but I feel it is better to have a decent break between cycle, that's what my Dr had told me before.
I hope you are all ok. I know I am very lucky right now, but I am still very much in the ivf process in my head.
Take good care of yourselves xxx
S.

SarahK2000 · 22/08/2021 11:04

That’s wonderful news @Sophfr17. Sending you loads of positive wishes. 2 boys - you will have your hands full 😊 I have my consultant appointment on Friday the 27th this coming week. Let’s see what she recommends as next steps. I have a feeling she may go down the ERA testing route but will wait to see what happens next. I would like to get going quickly, I have realised don’t need this hanging over me and I think my husband has come round to atleast using the 2 euploid embryos we have before calling it quits. Feel so much better medicine free though, it’s great to have my brain and emotions working well for a change. Almost scared of any next round.
@IslandStars best wishes for your procedure, assuming it’s this coming week.

@Longgame21 hopefully the time comes round quickly again and you get a better response. Fingers crossed for you.

Sophfr17 · 22/08/2021 11:19

I am happy your next appointment is coming soon @Sarahk2000. You are right, ERA testing might be a good thing to do, I am pretty sure the Dr will do the best for you. And you may also start progesterone earlier next time. I know these are difficult medications to handle, I have been there, but there are no other options unfortunately. You have handled a lot already, maybe counselling will help? It has helped me, as I was able to reach her quickly, and she would be able to react accordingly when I was mentally unwell.
Good luck for the coming weeks 😊

IslandStars · 22/08/2021 11:39

Hello @Sophfr17 wow 16 weeks, I can’t believe how fast time flies (I’m sure you don’t feel like this, time has stood still for me whilst I’ve been waiting for the hysteroscopy!) Am so happy you and the babies are doing well, how exciting to know you have two boys on the way! Are you starting to think of names now, or have you already had favourites chosen? I must admit I have a list of boy & girl names on my phone that I look at and update sometimes, I just hope I get chance to use one.

I’ll be having surgery on Tuesday, thanks for yours and @SarahK2000 kind wishes, I’ll be relieved to get it over with and move on.

Hope your appointment goes well @SarahK2000 it’s great you’ve got euploid embryos left, so worth making the best plan for them.

Sophfr17 · 22/08/2021 17:27

Thank you @IslandStars, no names yet, too soon for me ^^ I will be thinking of you on Tuesday, soon it will be over 🙂 give us some news when you can!
Xxx

IslandStars · 22/08/2021 19:13

Thank you @Sophfr17 will do. I can imagine once pregnant, names are the last thing to think about, just something nice to dream about when ttc! x Smile

IslandStars · 26/08/2021 10:23

Morning ladies,

Hysteroscopy went well this week, no major side effects, just some light cramping / spotting, but that has eased after 48 hours. They removed 1 polyp, the other one which looked like a polyp on the scan was actually some 'filmsy adhesions', so just something very minor which was easily removed. Am hoping to start FET process in a couple of weeks, so relieved to get going again.

Sophfr17 · 26/08/2021 12:43

Hi @IslandStars
These are very good news! I am glad everything went well and that you did not experience any side effects from the procedure. You must be so happy this is finally done 🙂
Now time to relax and planned the next step 😊
Take care xx

IslandStars · 26/08/2021 13:48

Thank you @Sophfr17 it's great to finally move on. Take care too x

Ivfhoper · 26/08/2021 15:48

Dear all,

I am new to this world, so I want to introduce myself to you all.
Age:33
AMH:3.25 pmol
AFC: 7 [last cycle]

I had a cycle with the ARGC, on max stims 600IU of Fostimon or Meriofert each day.

We got 6 eggs but only one fertilised Sad I suspect low fertilisation because my ovaries were desperate to ovulate and my LH was surging for days in the run up to the trigger - but instead of triggering ARGC asked me to take 9 injections of Cetrotide in one day!

I dont know whether my egg quality is poor or the treatment was wrong. I am looking to move to CRGH after hell on earth at ARGC. Any tips anyone?

SarahK2000 · 27/08/2021 12:45

@IslandStars so happy to hear you can move onto the transfer cycle now. Good luck with it.
@Ivfhoper welcome to this chat. Sorry to hear about your fertilisation. You are young so I assume egg quality won’t be a big issue for you. The stimulation drugs and protocols sometimes take a few goes to get right (I had mixed fertilisation results from even the same protocol but I am over 40 years old). I don’t have any experience of ARGC but CRGH has been a brilliant clinic. I feel they are willing to try new things in cycles but it takes some patience to do more than one cycle sometimes. Best of luck to you. I am sure you will find success 😊
Just to update you all - I had my consultant appointment today after the failed transfer. She has decided to throw the kitchen sink at testing. So I am going to have the hysteroscopy, ERA, NK cells testing etc. She will run a mock transfer cycle and then these tests under sedation and then keep me on Northisterone for 10 days to shift straight to an actual transfer when the results are available. She is adding steroids this time. I have my nurse appointment on Tuesday so should be set up to get going with the testing. Will need all my screening stuff again as it’s been a year! Let’s see what the testing brings. Am definitely feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all. I work on brexit border stuff and December is a very tricky time when all the border controls hit so just a bit worried about managing it alongside work. Have any of you tried acupuncture? Is it a good thing to do. I will also consider the good advice on counselling.

IslandStars · 27/08/2021 17:34

@SarahK2000 Thank you, glad you have a good plan sorted. You have 2 healthy embryos left, so hopefully these procedures and the right FET protocol will see at least one of them work.

I haven’t tried acupuncture, it’s just a bit too costly at the moment, plus time considerations with fitting it around work.

@Ivfhoper Welcome, hope you find the thread useful, we’ve all gone through the works here between us! I hope you can get things sorted with crgh or whichever clinic you choose. Sometimes it is about finding the right one to suit you and no trigger doesn’t sound right to me. Things can change from round to round though, so I hope you get better results elsewhere.
