Preparing for IVF/FET post COVID-19

Like a lot of people my FET was cancelled just before transfer. So (after a few tears) I’ve decided to take the time to see what I can do naturally to give my body the best chance.

I know a lot of people recommend It starts with the egg but my issues are a very thin, slow to respond lining, even after 2 weeks of double dose oestrogen it was only 4.2mm. I know my lining can get to the right level with more drugs, as it did with IVF (very slowly), but want it give it a better starting point!

Any tips on what I can do, or supplements? Anyone else in a similar position waiting for IVF or FET?
What are you doing with the time?

Thank you for sharing @ChaiTea1 - that sounds really positive!

Gear news @JeNeBaguetteRien about your clinic in Spain, how you can get going again soon.

Sorry about the typos Blush

Definitely some positive news coming out - there’s been a lot on the news so a bit of pressure.

Will everyone go back as soon as they are able?

I found the below from Leeds fertility about good things to do whilst waiting:

www.leedsfertilityclinic.co.uk/news/frequently-asked-questions-covid-19/

Vitamin D - official advice is to supplement during the winter months in the UK as our bodies can't produce enough from sunlight and diet tends to be a poor source as food contains only low levels. Vitamin D is an important immune function regulator and being deficient will make you more at risk of infection too. Everyone should be supplementing with vitamin D at this time (at least 1,000 units/day depending upon your own level). The “Mediterranean diet” has a good intake of vegetables, fish, lean meat, nuts, beans, olive oil and whole grains is most associated with good health. Brazil nuts may be a particularly helpful inclusion as they are high in selenium, which is good for fertility and immunity, 2-3 brazil nuts a day is sufficient.

Keeping on top of the paperwork feels like a mammoth job in itself doesn't it @elleceedee! I am so disorganised which doesn't help!

I have been taking standard pre-conception multi-vit for forever (it feels). Not a huge fan of Brazil nuts even though I know they're super good for TTC/IVF. Anyone got any tips/recipes for them?

NHS treatment due to start back tomorrow so hopefully things will start moving soon.

"Starting tomorrow, we'll begin the restoration of other NHS services starting with the most urgent like cancer care and mental health support," Mr Hancock says.

"The exact pace of the restoration will be determined by local circumstances on the ground."

UK Government 5pm broadcast has said all fertility treatment is to be resumed. Terrifying but choked up when watching. Hope this brings happiness to you all 💕

C88M · 01/05/2020 17:34

It’s great news it’s made my day - not sure when my clinic will restart but still it’s an end in sight

Amazing news thanks for sharing

elleceedee · 01/05/2020 18:18

Oh that is amazing news!

EmmaJ4142 · 01/05/2020 18:35

Just out of interest will everyone be restarting treatment as soon as they are able to?

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/05/2020 18:39

@emmaj4142

I have been thinking about that yes I will be. So long as its as safe as can be.

C88M · 01/05/2020 19:03

@EmmaJ4142 I will be restarting as soon as I’m able to. I’m NHS so might be a bit longer.

Hello,
Anyone got any news about when clinics abroad will be resuming?
Was planning on going to Cyprus

EmmaJ4142 · 01/05/2020 22:19

What stages are you ladies at if you don’t mind me asking? I’m nearly 30 and have my embryos on ice due to OHSS ready to transfer a couple of days before we went in to lockdown I’m just waiting to speak to them I understand there mentality of starting where they left off it’s just difficult to process the whole thing I think. I’m NHS too so it may take longer you’re right @C88M

Sorry @Goldenfleece22 no idea on the abroad front I would imagine Cyprus fertility boards or Facebook groups would be your best bet good luck 💐

MorgenMuffel · 01/05/2020 22:35

Such positive news from HFEA today for us all waiting for UK treatments. For awareness, info from my clinic suggests it will be at least 5 days from applying (on the 11th or after) before they will be able to open given all the precautions they have to demonstrate to HFEA.

We're waiting for a FET after our first fresh cycle failed. We're doing a natural cycle on clinic recommendation so can start as soon as - looking at my cycle it will be early June for my baseline scan. Time to start focusing on my diet again as I've let a few things slip since our cycle failed.

Hope you can all start ASAP Grin

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/05/2020 22:49

We had group session and first cycle booked in before it was all cancelled.

C88M · 02/05/2020 01:52

@EmmaJ4142 I’m 32 I had my first round of ivf last year it was successful but lost the baby at 13 weeks. We have 3 frozen and were a week before transfer when it was cancelled. I’m just working on heathy eating and doing things to help me lining which is always thin.
Maybe cut down the bottle of wine a week Grin

@EmmaJ4142 I'm 34 and we had our first cycle earlier this year. Got 5 on ice. So hopeful that one of these will take.

EmmaJ4142 · 02/05/2020 20:47

@C88M so sorry to hear that 💐 I can’t even begin to imagine you really are incredible. All of you are thanks for getting back to me it’s so reassuring to know I’m not in this alone and a couple of you seem to be in a similar position to me even though all our journeys are so different. I’m not sure when I will be restarting treatment if at all I’m looking forward to speaking to my clinic with them being NHS I’m not expecting it to be anytime within the next few weeks at least. @MorgenMuffel this stage brings its own boat load of anxieties doesn’t it. Five is an amazing number and for the embryos to get to the frozen stage is an achievement in itself good luck with everything to everyone 💐

C88M · 04/05/2020 12:20

@EmmaJ4142 that’s what I like about these boards, can feel a bit lonely in the real world - it’s good to chat to people in similar positions.

I’m in Greater Manchester which has been hit quite hard with the virus so not sure if it will be a priority with the NHS at the moment so will have to wait and see.

Morning ladies, really concern about the posible quarantine to be aplicable soon when travelling abroad, as my clinic is in Spain. So scared if my company doesnt allow me. I have to cancel my treatment due to coronavirus and i cannot wait longer. Do you have more info about this??? Thanks all!

MorgenMuffel · 14/05/2020 13:32

I've seen on the HFEA website that lots of clinics are reopening, and seems like more are by the day - hope it includes the ones you are using.

Sorry @Bowroad18 I don't know anything more about the quarantine. Are you able to take leave or WFH if you do end up needing to self isolate after travel?

I had a pre-arranged follow up with my clinic today and completely unexpectedly am going in for a scan tomorrow with a view to doing an FET this cycle. I am on day 7 so figured we were out this month and mentally prepared to start next month. My head is spinning!

C88M · 15/05/2020 11:49

It’s great to see that clinics are reopening.

That’s great news @MorgenMuffel bet it’s hard to get your head around though.

I’m seeing rumours that all Manchester CCGs wont release funding till July earliest so even if the clinics are open they can’t do the nhs ivf. Hoping that’s not the case!
