Access Fertility

Hello,

We are looking into using Access Fertility for our next round of IVF. We used our one free NHS round which wasn't very successful and now we want to try again. Planning on doing the Two rounds with a 50% refund option if needed. Just wondering if anyone who had used it would recommend it (or not) before we hand over all our money?
Also we want to do the IVF option and if that doesn't work potentially do Icsi if we've are allowed to upgrade. Thanks in advance X

Yes, we did exactly this. We decided to do a maximum of 3 cycles of IVF and used Access to fund the first two cycles and if unsuccessful, pay for the third cycle with the 50% refund. Happily we got a BFP on the second cycle so it worked out well for us. I may have felt a bit short changed if the first cycle had worked!!
Don't forget to add in the cost of drugs which for us we're in the region of £700 per cycle. Good luck Smile

We used them. It's been great knowing the treatment is already paid for. We opted for 3 rounds with 50% refund. So far we've done 1st IVF and a fresh transfer (MC), FET (MC) and just did another retrieval cycle but needed icsi so paid the extra to the clinic. It is a bit of a gamble but I thought it was worth it even when we got pregnant first cycle.

windy2909 · 17/09/2019 00:32

Yes, we used them too. We paid for 3 cycles with 100% refund if unsuccessful, which was pretty hefty. We were very lucky and had success first time.....have absolutely no regrets and a beautiful baby boy.

BeaCat · 19/09/2019 08:53

Thanks for your replies, that's reassuring to hear. We've summited our consent forms so fingers crossed we get accepted for the refund program.

How much are the packages tho? Looking at funding a 4th cycle as this one hasn't worked.

astridforty · 21/09/2019 19:11

Another one with positive experiences, DS is 6.5 weeks old after 4 cycles with Access on the refund package. We received the refund after the third unsuccessful cycle and then opted back in on a slightly different package and were lucky enough to welcome DS.

Sylva123 · 22/09/2019 10:00

I've also been looking at this option. So good to read everyone's feedback from it.

Hennysmommy · 23/09/2019 18:11

I rang Access Fertility today Shock you have to pay via a bank transfer the full amount needed for mulitcycles and unlimited. Got a quote of over 12000 for unlimited and 9000 for multicycle. Christ on a bike where do ppl find this amount of disposable cash to pop into a back account for treatment. Looks like our dream is over.

BeaCat · 24/09/2019 07:21

@astridforty that's lovely news! Glad it worked out in the end.

@Hennysmommy I know I was quite surprised that you have to pay it all upfront. We have applied for two cycles with 50% refund which is just short of 8K. We are paying using a mixture of savings, family loan and house remortgage.

Hennysmommy · 25/09/2019 17:57

@BeaCat Shock were not lucky to have savings we used it all up getting a mortgage and one last attempt at ivf. No chance of affording it again Sad.

Hennysmommy · 25/09/2019 17:58

Posted too soon... its horrid how expensive it is and not fair.

Sylva123 · 27/09/2019 09:57

@Hennysmommy
Oh wow, yes that rules that option out for me as well then. We don't have anywhere near that amount of money.

Have you looked at Assured Fertility? I haven't looked properly yet but they seem to offer a 100% refund plan with a finance option. I don't know what criteria they have or anything as we're still a few months away from it all, but might be worth a google.

I think I'm going to go with Nuffield as they're near me and they have a pay monthly option with no interest for a year.

Sylva123 · 27/09/2019 09:58

@BeaCat ⬆️ sorry didn't tag you in my reply. Still getting the hang of this forum

Hennysmommy · 27/09/2019 17:16

@Sylva123 will look at Assured Clilnic now thanks for that.
I'm seriously considering a bank loan even though we have a large one at the moment for house renovations. Desperate for more ivf and DC2.

Hennysmommy · 27/09/2019 17:28

@Sylva123 OMG than you so much for the post about Assured. You may have possibly saved my sanity Grin. I've never heard of them before but looked at the the Assured Fertility website put in an enquiry so hopefully hear something soon. May not get accepted r be affordable but at least it's a possiblilty for now that I might be able to have another cycle.

Sylva123 · 27/09/2019 17:32

@hennysmommy we also thought about getting a giant bank loan for the Access Fertility thing. I have to do 3 rounds of Clomid before we do the IVF so we're not at the point of paying for anything yet, but they've said our chances on clomid aren't great so we need to start planning the IVF and who to go with.
At the moment our first choice is to love boroughs and get it on the NHS, then we'll pay with Nuffield on the pay monthly thing I think. Although to be honest it's really hard for us to sit down and discuss it sensibly. Money conversations are tricky and throwing fertility in the mix makes it an extra sensitive topic.
I hope you figure out a way. The Assured people sent me an email with details of their pay monthly full refund plan and it looked ok but I only skim read it.

Oh @hennysmommy I just saw your other reply and I am so pleased!!! I really hope it works out for you 💛💛💛💛

Hennysmommy · 27/09/2019 17:59

@Sylva123 hope things work out for you. At least while your waiting you have time to save. I need donor eggs and donor sperm this time so pushes the prices right up but the finance plan looks great, its more expensive than a bank loan (Interest, APR crap) but the treatment plans are really good and means don't have to worry about the clinic getting paid. Good luck with the clomid.

VickyTTC · 04/12/2019 11:16

@Hennysmommy I've contacted Assured for more info too. How much was your package? What info do they need and how transparent do they seem?
Do they work with your current clinic?
I'm suspicious of websites that don't have any prices on them!
Hope it's going well for you.

LolaJade88 · 05/12/2019 10:29

Has anyone done the 3 cycle 100% refund package with access?
I’m abit confused about the frozen embryo rules. We have one frosty from our first nhs funded cycle, which we’ve been told we can keep and use at a later date (hopefully for baby number 2 if things go to plan) but if we get any frosties from this round with access can we save those too or do we need to use them before moving on to another fresh cycle?

LillyLeaf · 05/12/2019 10:50

@LolaJade88 you have to use up the frozen embryos before doing another retrieval cycle. Unless you pgs/pgd the embryos and they are abnormal, then you can do another retrieval cycle.

LolaJade88 · 05/12/2019 12:25

@LillyLeaf ok that’s what I thought, thank you!

Ellsiedodah · 23/10/2020 20:15

Hoping to resurect this thread! Has anyone used Access recently? I was quoted £1-2K for meds per cycle, but consultants have all recommended me mild IVF ... and I'm wondering whether there are pharmacies you can use which bring the bill down? I was going to do my treatment in London but will probably now be doing it in Oxford owing to a house move to Cheltenham so am yet to do my consultation there. Also, what have people paid in the last couple of months? I've been told that with my ovarian reserve being so low I shouldn't think of anything other than 3 rounds. Thanks ... x

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 06:45

Hi @Ellsiedodah I have just seen this thread and wondered what your outcome was? I am about to embark on IVF and also have low ovarian reserve...are we still eligible for Access?
