Overseas IVF cost

Hi all

I am currently looking into IVF overseas, sadly we do not qualify on the NHS due to 36 being too old. I have looked at costs here and they are difficult to swallow with some clinics going up to 20k for one cycle. Even though we have some savings that could cover this, I do not want to blow that much money in search of a BFP when there are other options available. I would prefer to spend a fraction of that cost on the IVF and the rest on my child’s future. That being said, has anyone used clinics overseas in the last year? What was the cost of the actual treatment (excluding flights and accommodation)? Did it include drugs or where they additional? Was the experience a positive one and was it successful?

I have researched a fair few but people experiences are always better than the online reviews as these can be fake.

Perfect thank u ladies super helpful. We have our review appointment on the 28th dec so we can make a decision from there x

AniSL · 08/01/2018 16:34

So after some extensive research, my mind almost exploded with trying to figure out the cost, I looked at fertility friends and found Agate’s post and a spreadsheet detailing costs. Unfortunately this was not self calculating but massive thanks to her for putting it in their. I decided to collate all the costs that I had been given so far from Serum, Reprofit, Embryolab, Invicta, Newlufe, Gennet and Virk fertility clinics and created a coatings spreadsheet. If anyone would like a copy then please do let me know. It also has a tab for cost of UK medications, sadly most companies do not post their costs but was able to find some.

Just to add you get a discount from fertility2u if you use Reprofit. Made our medication very cheap, few hundred cheaper than Asda x

AniSL · 08/01/2018 18:55

I am veering towards Reprofit, there prices are really good and some of the treatments they have far outweigh some other clinics. They also have one of the best intro booklets that I have received so far not to mention better success rates that a lot of the other clinics. Thanks for the extra information ScottishGirl

Only just seen your post now AniSL... I’m afraid I don’t know prices but I have to say the clinic we went to in Brussels worked a miracle for us - please have a look at www.crg.be as they are brilliant. I am absolutely sure that the price will not be as high as the astronomical prices charged in the uk. We are lucky enough to live in Belgium, but had we been in the uk there is no way we could have done it.
Good luck wherever you go!

AniSL · 08/01/2018 20:38

Thanks Chintaria

Will take a look and add the costs to a tab on my coatings spreadsheet.

Again happy to share with anyone who wants a copy. I sent to a friend who was considering UK IVF and realised she could save at least 7k by going to Europe - that’s a lot of nappies Grin

Hi @AniSL, could I have a copy of your spreadsheet if you don't mind?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2018 14:00

intrigued about the spread sheet, please pm me a copy thanks

after 2 failed in uk, and £12k - we used ivi in madrid

we spent £15k abroad, this includes everything, flights 6 times going over for chat,op,cycle 3,attempt 4 fet, era, attempt 5 fet

airport parking, taxis to clinic, all blood tests and cf and sperm freezing, hotels, scans for fets, 2 era, fresh cycle, freezing for 2yrs, 2 fets, cervival dilation (800 in madrid,£3.5k in uk)

looking at my notes, as we flew in and out rather stay there for a week as both se, the first cycle there but 3rd in all,if worked would have cost

3.5k ivf icsi
367 flights for ec return for 2 adults
100 taxi from airport to ivi
80 hotel night in madrid
60 scan home to check lining before flying for ec
30 gatwick parking
657 flights for et (never do xmas/ny lol) for 2 adults
100 taxi airport/ivi return
34 hotel night in madrid
30 gatwick parking

total £4858

tho as said above we flew over for ec dec 28th and back again for etc jan2 so spent 1024 on flights and double on taxi/parking/hotel

when we went for fet month later was 203 return for both of us and did in a day sono hotel costs

so flight prices really do vary

moral of story, dont start down reg in oct as ec/et will be end of dec/jan and bloody costly on flights

so take off silly money for flights and i say you could do do ivf icsi abroad for £4300/4400 including everything

you have to think about flights, parking, hotels etc in your budget

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2018 14:02

tho sadly that fresh failed, but we had 6 to freeze and flew over again for fet, found cervix had shut so needed dilatin, much cheaper in madrid even with flight, then uk

had fet and failed (4th attempt) so had era to check lining and then few months later did 5th attempt and got preg after 10yrs ttc and 5 ivf all private and my dd is now 9mths old and she is my world

AniSL · 09/01/2018 14:19

Si1ver it’s in your inbox Smile

Blondeshavemorefun will pm it to you, I haven’t looked into Spain IVF as I overlooked it. May add these to it too

Hello AniSL, can you send me a copy of your spreadsheet please? Thanks!

felicityheather · 16/01/2018 11:49

I would love a copy too if that's ok?

Iwantaunicorn · 18/01/2018 22:59

We used invicta in Poland, and did the all inclusive package, which included the injections. Was handy as I needed a couple of extra days, which were also covered. It cost €3750, but you can pay in zloty or pounds, so about £3300. We did it at the height of summer and got unlucky with dates as every milestone seemed to be either a British or Polish bank holiday or celebration so flights were a bit dear and last minute, so reckon we probably spent 5k all in? Their success rates are great, and it worked first time for us. Overall I found the clinic to be very efficient, and helpful, and would recommend them.

TickTock10 · 24/01/2018 13:49

@AniSL would it be possible if you could kindly share the spreadsheet with me also?

We've paid £15k to date and still counting...hopefully we'll have some good news from this round fingers crossed

Floofles · 24/01/2018 19:25

Could I have a copy too please?

Just had a failed UK round (NHS) and trying to work out how I can possibly afford another round!

xx

AniSL · 24/01/2018 20:19

Charista I tried crg and they advised that their upper age limit to both partners was 45, cancels us out as DH is 46.

I have been very impressed with Invicta, Newlife and Reprofit.

All were pretty much straight with the cost and what they felt we needed, though Reprofit and Invicta will charge for an online consultation, I didn’t mind this however as they were just so good. Newlife was free for the consultation with a Dr and advised as to everything that was required. Obviously Greece is the more expensive option but their success rates in my age group were higher than the others.

There was a clinic that decided to provide me with a diagnosis of poor egg quality which really put me off as I know they cannot tell egg quality without extracting an egg.

I hope the spreadsheet has been helpful to those who asked for it.

Please could I have a copy of your spreadsheet? I’d also be interested to know which clinic provided you with a diagnosis of poor egg quality if that’s ok?

Blondienut · 27/01/2018 01:00

Please could I also have a copy of the spreadsheet, would really appreciate it, many thanks Smile

kv785301 · 28/01/2018 18:31

Hi @AniSL, can you send me copy of your spread sheet, please? Did you check any in Slovakua? We are looking to have it privately and looks like abroad is the only way. Thank you

AniSL · 28/01/2018 19:34

Blondienut and kv785301 please pm me your email address.

I haven’t looked at Slovakia unfortunately,
If you have prices of any other clinics other than the ones listed on the spreadsheet, I am happy to create extra tabs for comparison

OP posts:
kv785301 · 31/01/2018 18:40

Thank you AniSL. it will help us a lot. Will be contacting some of the clinics soon as under NHS it is taking ages ! Have you decided yet as where to go?
Im going to check the one in CZ and will check the in Slovakia as well.
Thank you again . 😊

AniSL · 31/01/2018 21:44

Hi KV

I will check out the clinics that you sent me too and add them. I have my top 4: Newlife in Greece, Reprofit, Gennet and Invicta in Czech. Newlife has the best success rates in my age group so that is leading at the moment. All have been excellent and informative

We went to Norway, klinikk Hausken. The treatment was 2k exactly, about £600 for all drugs then flights and accommodation. We were on a big budget so used air bnb and took almost all our own food with us. It is expensive out there but you can do. It cheaply. Worked out at £3750 for everything and I would really recommend it. We had a bfp on our first attempt but lost it at 3 weeks. 2nd attempt also a bfp and are expecting in 6 weeks. Fingers crossed we get there safely. Good luck.

Ladyhuskies · 13/07/2018 18:57

AniSL, would love your spreadsheet
