Can anyone please post any success stories about conceiving despite issues with their DPs sperm? Mine has poor morphology (less than 2% normal) and we're trying Fertilaid. I'd love to hear that other people got their BFPs despite these issues to help keep my optimism alive! Otherwise I'm happy to support others on the same journey. Thank you in advance.

Hey friends and geeup, how are you both doing? Friends, you must be quite far along now - hope you're doing well and all is well with baby. Still can't believe your miracle BFP - it just goes to show, it really can happen.

Geeup, any news? Hope you're keeping your spirits up and looking forward to the festive season.

As for me, my IVF drugs arrived this morning so it's all go! It's such a big box, it feels weird. Not starting til mid-Jan, but it's good to have them here and ready. I feel quite excited really - at least when my next period arrives, I'll actually be doing something different rather than just the same old routine that hasn't worked in two years. We've been taking proxeed religiously for nearly a year now and nothing. Time for something more drastic. At the back of my mind, I'm nervous about the fibroids - I'm not convinced they aren't our real problem and they would impact implantation so IVF might not work. But the dr seemed sure that it shouldn't be a problem, I have to trust him I suppose.

That's exciting Star. Really hope you can enjoy Christmas knowing you are starting to cycle soon.
AFM I've taken nearly a month off mumsnet, temping and opks to try a relaxed approach but today I started the first signs of AF. Feel alternately very sad and then kind of numb as I've kind of given up. Been referred for IVF now but waiting for the decision from CCG in late January. Considering signing up for an IUI in January just so we've ticked that off before we go the whole IVF route. It don't know if it's just a waste of money with OHs poor morphology. Will try and find the upside (drinking at Christmas) but can't believe I'm entering my third "year" of trying (started 2015).

Star - have you started your ivf drugs yet? If so I hope you're getting the hang of it and feeling well.
Friends - hope the pregnancy is going well and you enjoyed a lovely bumpy Christmas!

Hey all.no success story here, I was lurking around reading. We have terrible sperm count, too low to get a morphology or motility from (total count

star1980 · 11/01/2017 12:08

Hey geeup, just started the injections this morning. Me and OH have a joint method where he gets the injection ready and I do the injecting. It works quite well and doesn't hurt. I think doing it first thing means I don't give myself time to get worked up!

I'm on this ivf schedule, think it's called "long protocol" it certainly takes ages!
3 weeks on the pill. DONE!
3 weeks on down regulation drugs (buserelin) to quiet ovaries. Just on day 1
10 days of stimulation drugs (Gonal f)
Then egg collection, fertilisation and tww.
So it'll be mid march before I'm even thinking about testing!

How's everything going with you?

geeup · 11/01/2017 12:40

Ahh just saw you in the IVF thread. Ok with me but sooo bored waiting for my NHS appointment. Keep checking the post as clinic said I could expect it this week! Just dying to get started although I didn't realise till I saw your post here just how long it all takes with long protocol (I presume that's the standard unless you have poor AMH and have to do short protocol?). Good luck with the injections - sounds like a good system with you new HUSBAND!

Hey guys.
(Only just noticed all the post)
Star, I'm soo glad that you've started now. How you feeling about it all? Are you taking time of work? Fingers crossed for you.
It's really good your husband is getting involved with it all as well! Also, huge congratulations on now being a Mrs!!

Geeup, I hope that you hear something soon. Our post use to always come late afternoon, I remember going to the post box several times a day! I was surprised how quick things went when it did arrive though. You're nearly there, keep going.

Afm, I'm currently 22 weeks 1 day. I'm having a little boy! I'm certainly not having a stress free time mind. At 18 weeks I had confirmed PPROM. ( Waters broke) I went into the ward where they told me that there was nothing they can do. They said the baby would have no water and I would more than likely go into labour within 48 hours.
The next day, I had an ultrasound and baby was great, none the wiser. They then said I could get an infection and that will be it. I'm now four weeks on, no sign of infection and my baby is measuring ahead ( looks like I've developed gestational diabetes) I had a private scan Sunday and things are going well. Hopefully we both can continue fighting. Thinking of you both.

pteradactyl · 11/01/2017 18:51

geeup · 11/01/2017 22:09

I'm really sorry you've had such a scare friends. I hope that's the end of it and the rest of your pregnancy is more straight forward. Congrats on having a boy!!
Nothing in the post again for me. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Hey Geeup, I'm still here. I've been following your news on the 18+ thread. I'm really pleased that you've got the ball rolling, I really hope that you can have a stress free time now until you start.I was looking back at the start of this thread, with all the uncertainty and the hope, we're all finally getting somewhere.

Glad to hear your doing well with the injections Star.

I wish you all the best Peterad. I know how hard it is when you want something so much.

I'm doing good thanks. I'm 25.2 weeks but measuring slightly bigger. It feels so good to have made it this far, I'm slightly more relaxed now I can feel him moving around in there. Hopefully I will keep him in there until full term.😊

geeup · 02/02/2017 18:51

Great news - pleased to hear you can enjoy things now!

star1980 · 02/02/2017 19:02

Lovely news friends! Thank goodness it is all working out.
Yes, we've really been through it haven't we. I so happy things are going well for you - god knows you deserve it after the length of time you'd been trying!

I'm hoping so hard that I'll join you soon. I know the odds are that it won't work first time, but I know the reason I'm so calm is that it feels good to be doing something positive at last so the hope is helping. And I think I'll feel just as bad if it fails whether I was hopeful or not. First scan tomorrow and I could really feel my ovaries yesterday, it was uncomfortable to walk so I guess something is happening in there!

Geeup, hope you're doing ok after the news about your OH's sperm. It should only take a few hours to get to the egg so if I were you I'd keep trying naturally next month - it's a small chance but not impossible and then when (or if) your period comes you can start treatment and join me on the ivf train!

geeup · 02/02/2017 19:25

Feeling your ovaries sounds positive Star! I won't be too far behind you. Am in 2ww from last cycle of trying naturally. Period due mid Feb then I have to have protected sex or just not bother - would be a nice rest! until day 21 then I start stabbing...

friends123 · 03/02/2017 13:44

That's really good news on the ovaries Star.I hope your sch went well.

Haha Geeup! I don't blame you. I've dtd once since conceiving,I think even DH is glad of the rest.😂

Marinela88 · 15/02/2017 20:39

Hi can you please tell me where did you had the ivf?
Thanks

geeup · 08/04/2017 22:14

Hi friends. Just wondered how you're doing? I had my first ivf cycle and even though we were expecting to do icsi for the mfi, DHs sample was good enough for normal ivf which we were thrilled with! Just in 2ww now with fingers crossed!

friends123 · 24/04/2017 12:49

Hi you two.
I've been in two minds whether to update you or not because I know you're both going through a difficult time. ( I'm still following you guys on the other thread )

I had a beautiful baby boy last week, 6lb.3, he was 4 weeks early because they decided it was too risky to keep him in. I had an emergency section in the end after 12 hours. It was all very scary. He's currently still in NIcu but after a very difficult week he's finally getting better. ( Hope you don't mind the update)

How are you guys getting on? I wish you all the best with your next cycles. I'm still thinking of you both and I hope the next few months bring you some positive news. I will be following. Much love x

geeup · 24/04/2017 12:58

Ah you're kind to think of us. It that's fantastic - very happy news! And good to know that babies can still come about despite MFI! Hope your little boy continues to get stronger and he's out soon. Congratulations again and look after yourself!

OP posts:
star1980 · 24/04/2017 14:07

Congratulations friends! I've been thinking that you must be close to delivering. Sorry to hear about the difficult birth, but so pleased to hear he's getting better. It's nice to hear from you and thanks for letting us know. I'm very very happy for you.

Still, I cannot quite believe it's been 9 months since you finally got your surprise bfp and we're still here on the starting blocks! Life is insane.

geeup · 24/04/2017 16:24

I hear you Star. Forgive me - remind me where you're up to? Have got myself on a few too many threads at the moment and lost track! I should be starting second round of ivf when I get my period so probably downregging end of May.

OP posts:
star1980 · 25/04/2017 07:21

Hey Gee, I'm same as you. Going again at my next period which is due 11 May so stimming in June. Are they changing anything for you this time? I'm on antagonist (short) protocol this time and lower dose to avoid ohss.

geeup · 25/04/2017 11:13

Ah of course we're on TTC over 18 mths together aren't we! Are you joining the May/June IVF thread? I thought I'd join once I've got my period in early May. I'll be doing long again although I'm guessing they'll start me on the higher dose of menopur this time (I started in 300 but ended up on 450) as i was a slow starter and only got 6 eggs. I'll find out at my appointment to get the drugs and discuss the recommended plan once AF comes. God I hope we both get BFPs. After starting this thread about 18 mths ago, would be a lovely end to the thread if we both did Smile
