Ha! I was just about to post the last message in the old thread linking to this, but I'm too late, we've already filled it up! I'll do the same as last time and send PMs to everyone who's been on the thread recently, but everyone's welcome Smile

I'm having quite a bad day. Feel very nauseous and can't eat much as my stomach feels uncomfortable and bloated. Really can't wait till tomorrow I just want this cycle over now as I feel dreadful.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/04/2015 22:31

Sorry you're having a bad day waiting, it must have been such a relief yesterday to have time out from all the discomfort. Not long now...

Just so pleased (we have unexplained infertility) to finally know that my eggs are not too old and DH's sperm is fine enough for us to get to blast.

Does anyone object if I ask a question about cyclogest? Blush

Shellster52 · 25/04/2015 23:48

You are welcome to ask any question cat. I have never used cyclogest so can't offer any advice. Out of curiosity, how long have you been struggling with unexplained infertility?

Waiting, hope you are able to cope - not long now - you've come so far.

Darkchoc · 26/04/2015 06:43

Well trying to type from an iPhone today and not easy. Thanks everyone for kind hopeful comments. I started bleeding yesterday at 6dp 5dt, initially watery and pink, but by bedtime it was red. Woke this morning to the same type of bleeding associated with my AF...I'm now 7dp transfer! This really doesn't bode well, my official test day is not until Tuesday, but I doubt this type of bleeding is normal or positive so early. Anyone experienced this?

bluemoonday · 26/04/2015 09:09

Choc I bled quite heavily on my second cycle - I got a positive pregnancy test that turned out to be a chemical. I've read about plenty of women who bleed and still get a positive so it's hard to know for sure, although red blood generally isn't a good sign. Test again on your official test date, I think that's the advice you'll get from your clinic. Sorry you're having such a stressful time, it's awful.

I'm happy to answer questions on cyclogest... I'm an expert on the evil little things.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/04/2015 09:50

Thanks shellster, only 17 months but we wanted to crack on with IVF in view of age.

choc sorry to hear that. Still have my fingers crossed for you.

Thinking of you this morning waiting and hope your EC goes well.

blue ( and anyone else who can stomach TMI) cyclogest: front or back? Does it make a difference go how the progesterone gets to your uterus?

Edenviolet · 26/04/2015 13:13

16 eggs

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/04/2015 13:23

Wow! How do you feel?

lucieloos · 26/04/2015 13:24

Wow that's brilliant waiting. I bet you're glad that's over with. Hope it wasn't too painful. Will they be frozen now?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/04/2015 13:30

Clinic rang this morning. Our other two blasts didn't make it to the freezer. So it's all about what's on board right now, all or nothing. Looks like we're in the same boat Lucie.

lucieloos · 26/04/2015 13:34

That's a shame black but at least we both have 2 decent ones on board which I think is the aim. Anything else is an extra bonus. Let's hope these 2 are good un's for us both.

Edenviolet · 26/04/2015 14:30

Not too bad very dizzy but that's because it took well over an hour. All embryos will be frozen for fet next cycle

Edenviolet · 26/04/2015 17:50

This will sound nomad but has been bothering me all day. My ec was approx between 10.15-1130 and I'm sure the dr said to me that they put all the eggs in a dish and leave them till the aft when all the egg collections for the day are done then mix them with the sperm then???? Do the eggs survive that long? I thought they had to be fertilised immediately ?? My dh didn't do his sample immediately as I was unwell after the sedation and they said it didn't matter as the eggs were fine?

Am I worrying over nothing? I think I was a bit out of it as well when they told me that

Edenviolet · 26/04/2015 17:51

Nomad? I meant mad!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 26/04/2015 18:08

Hi waiting don't worry, they don't pop straight away. In general they last 1-2 days inside you. A couple of hours won't hurt. Anyway, they need time to wash and spin that sperm!

purplemeggie · 26/04/2015 20:22

Congratulations and good luck, Cat and Lucie. Wow - 16 Waiting? That's a record for this thread....and I only got 10 from a 20yo donor this time, so you're doing pretty well...hopefully worth all the discomfort.

Cat - I used the back door for cyclogest as it involved less seepage and mess (euuch, I know). Not very pleasant to insert, but once that's out of the way it's fine. Apparently it dissolves and gets absorbed pretty quickly, so unless you really get taken by surprise, so long as you wait about 20-30 mins before going to the loo, it's fine.

OP posts:
Edenviolet · 26/04/2015 20:35

I doubt all 16 were mature/fertilise as the doctor said there were so many follicles (50+ I think) some big, some middle size and some small so I won't know till tomorrow but 16 sounds promising!

I felt dizzy for hours afterwards and quite sick, the nurse said they had to keep topping up the sedation as it took so long! I feel so much better now though-tender and a bit sore but not like before when I was swollen and had burning pain. I'm on cetrotide for another three days now as they want to shut down my ovaries some more and clexane as well (which really stings!)
Very excited for the call tomorrow to see how many fertilise fingers crossed I get a good few to freeze.

purplemeggie · 26/04/2015 20:39

Choc - thinking of you. I've also known people bleed at the beginning of what turned out to be a successful pregnancy, so it's not necessarily game over, but that doesn't make it any easier not to feel miserable, does it? x

bluemoonday · 26/04/2015 21:48

cat I don't think it matters if you go back door or front door, whichever works for you. I use front but always remember to use a panty liner otherwise your knickers get ruined. Lovely stuff.

Well done waiting, 16 eggs is loads!

Shellster52 · 26/04/2015 22:50

Darkchoc, any more news? This is just awful isn't it. I am trying to think of the right thing to say but I've been where you are, and there are just no words to help. We are here if you need to rant.

Well done waiting on making it through the last two weeks of discomfort. 16 eggs is certainly worth it. Let us know when you get an update. Will it be next cycle that the transfer takes place or do you have to have a cycle off to recover?

cat, I know it's disappointing to not have the others make it to freeze. Feels nice to have a plan B. But it shows great embryo quality for 2 of 4 to make it all the way to blast. I think two transferred certainly ups the chance of one being genetically normal for a BFP in two weeks time! The waiting continues.

I can't believe Lucie your Dr only gives you 50% chance after having 2 that have made it all the way to day 5 transferred. Feels like it should be higher. And you are only 35. Makes me feel like I don't have much hope when I am close to 38 and don't produce many eggs. Still last cycle attempt here I go...

I am on day 3 of my cycle. So suddenly, day 20 when I start the estrogen doesn't seem so far away. The real wait is my day 2 scan next cycle to see if I have enough follicles to proceed, but I'm breaking my wait down into segments so it doesn't seem so long. So day 20 when I start estrogen is my first target. Going to get ready for a yoga class - must thank you blue so much for your recommendation. Really does feel like it gets the blood flowing internally which can only be a good thing for IVF.

lucieloos · 26/04/2015 23:01

I'm not sure really shell, she told us 40% before we had even started taking the meds and now we have had 2 good blasts transferred which she said she was really happy with and said 50% chance of it working. Although I had read similar stats to that myself saying between 50-60% when a blast is transferred so who knows. I suppose there are still a lot of variables. The chance of a blast being chromosomally abnormal is something like 30% and then there's implantation so maybe it is right. I have had the scratch and embryo glue as well though which are meant to up the odds but who knows will just have to wait and see.

That's brilliant that you are not too far off starting your next cycle. I also took up yoga for a while. I really enjoyed it and felt great after it. It sounds like you are really trying everything you can to make it a success.

Darkchoc, sorry to hear about the bleeding but as others have said it is not uncommon and doesn't mean that it's over for you yet. I really hope things work out for you but like shell said we are here if you need us.

Waiting, really excited to hear your results tomorrow and glad you are feeling a lot more comfortable now.

Shellster52 · 26/04/2015 23:29

You're right Lucie, lots of variables and all very individual. I suppose while there is a general trend for eggs to be less chromosomally normal as we age, that varies too. My friend had her 3 embryos tested after repeated implantation failure and only 1 of 3 were normal. She was 37 which is my age so I was a bit shocked by that. It's quite deceptive really that those 3 had made it all the way to blast and without genetic testing, women would have a false hope that they have 3 chances of pregnancy and would be paying extra to store the excess blasts then go through the emotional build up of an FET cycle without knowing the frozen embryo is abnormal and has no chance. From a moral point of view, I think the IVF clinics should do genetic testing as standard so we don't get false hope and have a realistic chance of our success if we chose to spend more money and repeat IVF. But of course, IVF is all a money making business and they like to charge a fortune for this test!

lucieloos · 26/04/2015 23:36

Yes I totally agree shell and think that aCGH testing is the way forward. We were considering having it done if we had any leftovers. I didn't see the point in having it done on the two we had put in though as they would have had to freeze them and then we would have to have a fet the next cycle whereas if we put them both in then we will get our answer soon enough and at no extra charge.

Shellster52 · 27/04/2015 06:59

Yep, makes sense lucie. No point paying thousands to test when you are doing a free test by putting them in your uterus. Guess I'm just having a whinge at the IVF industry and their ability to make a hefty profit from desperate couples by charging thousands for this extra test when I'm sure it doesn't cost that much for them to test the embryo. The Dr's cars parked out the back of my clinic are worth more than my house!

Edenviolet · 27/04/2015 09:53

The lab just called, out of the 16, 13 were mature, 7 fertilised but 1 abnormally so we have 6. I'm hoping that they all progress well now but I'm aware some may stop developing so will have to wait for the call tomorrow. The clinic were saying about freezing on day 2 or 3 is that normal I thought they would freeze them as blastocysts or will they (hopefully) thaw them and culture to blastocyst when I have my fet?
