I see we've filled up the thread and thought I'd better start another one. How's everyone doing?

Hi Shellster and everyone!

I'm getting all excited about my awayday tomorrow for frozen transfer. Wahhh! I just hope the little bugger survives defrosting. If it doesn't then that's ok. All out of my control. I'm just going to enjoy the trip and treat myself with airport shopping.

purplemeggie · 04/02/2015 20:06

Thinking of you, Annie and wishing all warm and positive thoughts to little Frostyhoo xxx

Frostyhoo Smile. Thanks purple. Early to bed for me tonight x

bluemoonday · 05/02/2015 08:57

GOOD LUCK Annie! Thinking of you - try to relax and be 'mindful'! Let us know how you get on (with the FET, not the airport shopping Smile ). Thinking of you.

Shellster I did injections in my thigh for the whole of my first cycle. A random nurse told me to do that....and when I went in for my 2nd cycle, they asked me why I was using my thigh. Duh. I'm not sure it makes any difference to the outcome, but I definitely bruised more when I used my thighs. I struggled to find sufficient 'fat bits' to grab on to so I ended up injecting into the muscle quite often (which hurts). Stomach is definitely easier.

SecondSunrise · 05/02/2015 09:26

Thinking gently warming thoughts for your little frozen one Annie!

Shellster I've done injections in my thigh before and they definitely bruise/hurt me more. The trigger injection was always done into my thigh when the nurses have done it, but when I've done it I did it in my stomach.

EmmaGH · 05/02/2015 21:58

Annie, just wanted to wish you good luck! Thinking of you! xx

Shellster52 · 06/02/2015 01:09

Annie, that little embryo out to behave and defrost after all this build up. I shall be soundly sleeping here in Aus while you are doing your FET but I will wake up to check in on your update.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply about thigh vs tummy. Words can't describe how grateful I am to have this thread as support.

Just to further pester you, can I ask you Purple, blue and Second, if you were told any specific area on the thigh to inject? I mean, it's a big area. I will definitely speak to my nurse at my appt when I collect my drugs but if I am armed with knowledge before hand, I can ask more informative questions at my appt.

I am a bit worried if your one thigh injection ended in a big hard lump Purple. That's what happened with my tummy trigger on IVF #8 when I injected at 45 degree angle and the trigger didn't work - I got 1 mature egg from several mature follies.

purplemeggie · 06/02/2015 10:31

Shellster - the nurse said to pinch a chunk of skin on my thigh just like you would on your tummy. She demonstrated doing this on her own thigh, on the front/top, so this is where I aimed for.

How did you get on, annie? x

Hello! Back home, long day yesterday but all went well. The embryo survived defrosting and all was fine according to embryologist. It's a day5 3BB. He said it looks good quality. The transfer went very smoothly apparently. So test date is a week tomorrow.

Because the clinic is closing down I don't have a plan b (I think I'm on Plan e or f by now!).

I'd requested a copy of our medical notes so it's good to have them should we decide to register elsewhere. I think I could go through just the one more fresh cycle.

Anyhoo! Fingers crossed. As the consultant said "it's all in the hands of the gods now".

purplemeggie · 06/02/2015 13:57

That's all sounding great, Annie - I've got everything crossed - got high hopes for Frostyhoo Smile xxx

Great to hear everything went well Annie - now the wait begins! Must be a weight off your mind knowing the 'defrost' worked.

Shellster I did the top bit of my thighs, on the sides. Basically wherever I could grab a bit of fat, just like Purple. Maybe someone at the clinic could show you? Frankly I find it much easier in my stomach.

Persipan · 06/02/2015 20:30

Shellster, as I understand it, the thigh (or bits of it) is also a site for subcutaneous injections - so it's not like injecting into your thigh automatically makes an injection intramuscular, it's the depth to which you're injecting (i.e. into muscle rather than into the layer of fat under your skin). I think intramuscular injections would need a different/longer needle, and I've no idea whether all drugs can be administered either way, but I'd assume that at least some are only suitable for one or the other.

Shellster52 · 07/02/2015 09:40

Again, thank you all for your thigh injection info. Yes, it makes sense Persi that it's the needle and depth that make it an IM injection as opposed to the site. Even if it is stil subcutaneous in the thigh, I think I would like to try since my last two triggers failed in my stomach. Both probably more a user error! Will ask my nurse when I see her and see how I get on.

Annie, so glad for you that the embryo survived the defrost. I too am up to plan e or f as opposed to plan b!

SecondSunrise · 09/02/2015 10:02

Shellsterjust a thought but could a nurse do your trigger for you? I know the timing might be awkward but might be worth asking. Or as Blue says - get the clinic to show you exactly where (maybe mark a circle in pen and take a photo if it will wash off before you do it).

SecondSunrise · 09/02/2015 10:03

And great news AnnieHoo! You couldn't ask for much better than that. All the rest is luck. Hang in their little frostiHoo!

AnnieHoo · 09/02/2015 15:40

Thanks second yes it's all about chance now.. Did so well getting to this point. I caved in and tested even though I'm only 4dp5dt and it's a BFN blankety blank. I'm glad I didn't have my hopes up as it's highly unlikely to work. Feeling ok and of course there's still room for one of those miracles you hear about!

purplemeggie · 09/02/2015 15:46

Step away from the test kits, Anniehoo! It's only been 5 minutes post transfer! xxx

I know! I knew you'd tell me off purple! Ok you're right, you're right shuffles off to do some hoovering to stop the ruminating

bluemoonday · 09/02/2015 16:22

Haha Annie that has to be one of the earliest POAS cave-ins on record! Grin

I'm a strict test-date girl but there are plenty of other women on this forum who love to POAS daily. I'm not sure which is better or worse. Either way, 2ww is hideous so I do sympathise. Have you started googling all your 'symptoms' yet?

AnnieHoo · 09/02/2015 16:33

Heh heh no I'm not Blue because i don't have any symptoms... so I'm googling "no symptoms at 4dp5dt" instead Grin. I'm weak! I don't like shocks!

I only have 3 cheapies left so I've had my splurge and will need to be strong and save them until the end of the week.

purplemeggie · 09/02/2015 18:08

Oooh no - that's one thing my consultant was 100% clear on: no housework for at least 6 months after transfer. (Nice moment, except that DH countered with "no change there then". Hmph.)

SecondSunrise · 09/02/2015 20:39

6 years surely? Wink

purplemeggie · 09/02/2015 20:53
