Donor Eggs?

greenlizard · 21/02/2014 20:14

After two miscarriages in six months (likely to be due egg quality - I am 44) DP and I are considering using an egg donor but don't have a clue where to start.

I don't know how I feel about it, though I am desperate to become a mum. Does anyone have any experience of this? Where do I start? Any advice?

Can I ask folks on here if they felt confident about it working? Finding out my eggs ran out has been such an esteem blow I feel a bit doomed. I feel like I should check my immunes too to give it the best chance possible.

So you didn't have normal ivf funded before your private ones? If you weren't eligible for normal you wouldn't of been eligible for donor? A lot of CCGs don't fund donor, mine does but mines really good it even funds singles and same sex x

Also we had to research ourselves into donor the clinic just discharged us when my gd jumped, they didn't say you could do donor elsewhere if you apply, I find with this whole thing 10% of info you get from clinics, the rest from forums and the Internet x

No didn't qualify as score was 10.5 (limit is 10!). X

Your FSH? Wow that's harsh, was there no leeway? Mine was 9 when I cycled (I was 29) then at second cycle it jumped to 19 so they cancelled, they rechecked Xmas eve and it was 23! So I got discharged, they said if its over 10 I couldn't cycle, the nurses said they would apply a bit of leeway if everything else was ok, I do think its a bit naughty no one suggested DE if its a service they offered, look into it, how far did you get? If it was only gynae then I can understand but if you got to the ivf felt before they said no and they did treat donor egg patients you would if expected the heads up, how many cycles do to get funded in your area? If its 3 could you see about taking your 3rd? Did they only take FSH once? It fluctuates so its unusual for them to go off one reading especially considering you were only just over x

Sorry for typos! X

I hope that you are all successful soon.
I donated my eggs 15 years ago, they resulted in a baby girl, it's one of the best things I ever did, sadly I was too old to do it again.

Pocket1 · 06/03/2014 20:58

We had donor egg ivf and now have the most gorgeous little 8 month old girl who I love with all my heart. I could not love her any more and she is mine all mine.

Our treatment was in London. I found my own altruistic donor through fertility friends - although we kept everything anonymous and have never met.

Happy to answer any questions here or pm me.

Thanks so much for your replies. Does anyone have any good recommendations for clinics? I see CARE mentioned a few times and I know they have a few clinic nationally. I also would be interested if anyone has used an overseas clinic?

Hi all, I'm considering becoming a donor as I have had one successful round of IVF and lots of eggs, I'd like to do egg sharing as some clinics offer this in the UK, I think it's a single round of IVF, half the collected eggs go to donor and half to recipient. Has anyone done this? I'd do it anonymously.

Pocket1 · 10/03/2014 17:08

Hi Hopping, I was the recipient of egg sharing for my first two rounds of ivf. I did get pregnant with round 1 but mc. Then we had a second with frozen embryos, but got a bfn. We received lots of eggs from our donor through egg share. It's a wonderful gift to give someone...

We used these guys and were very happy with them. They genuinely care.

We used an IVI clinic in Spain as it was recommended by our NHS consultant. Worked first time and now have a beautiful toddler son. They were able to match us straight away so there was no waiting time.

We had already looked into adoption after our own egg ivf fails so egg donor felt like a natural decision.

I can't rate the IVI highly enough. They have several clinics in Spain and we used the one in Valencia.

Sunshine70 · 13/05/2014 10:24

Hi MrsPeacockDidIt,
Can I ask if you were at the clinic in Valencia for all your treatment? We have a wonderful 3 year old whom I became pregnant with through IVF 3 years ago so when it wasn't working for us 2nd time around (unexplained infertility) we went down that same route and through the same clinic. Unfortunately it didn't work and after much research I have come to realise that I am very unlikely to achieve pregnancy using my own eggs now (just turned 44) so am looking into egg donation. The clinic we went to for both our rounds of IVF works in conjunction with the IVI in Alicante but interesting to hear your story from another IVI clinic. Because of my age I don't want to leave things much longer and especially as there can be a long waiting list. I understand though that the clinic in Spain will treat women up to the age of 49 as opposed to the Clinic we used in the Uk who say that treatment has to be completed by 46th birthday.
I'd also love to hear from anyone that has achieved pregnancy naturally over the age of 43 and to hear whether they were using complementary medicine ie: acupuncture. Thanks

I'm have a donor egg IVF in Poland, it's super cheap! Only about 3k.

They have a great website full of information. Even if you don't use them it's worth a look just to find things out Smile and they are very open with prices which I have found difficulty with from other websites

Anyone had any experience (good or bad please - I can take bad news too) with a clinic in Manchester / Daresbury for Donor eggs called Reproductive Health Group? I understand they are new. Dr Nando or is it Nardo runs it.
