I just read this on the 'Latest News' on BBC News but when I clicked on the headline there was no info.

I am shocked and hoping they are not seriously hurt.

OP posts:

can't believe some of the comments on here. Shameful If you have these sort of thoughts can't you just keep them to yourselves for the time being instead of posting thehm on a public forum??

...foxes are lairy and very capable/fearless. One came into our house at tea time (no-one in the room at the time but the lights and radio were on) and took our loose guinea pigs which were running around in the kitchen. It had had to walk through another room first to get there

they really don't give a shit

omnishambles · 07/06/2010 13:41

God how terrifying - wishing those twins and their family all the best...

sherby · 07/06/2010 13:54

lol at this comment from the link above

I truly feel sorry for the kids. However I would not put it past Cameron to have set this up so he can re-introduce hunting for his cronies

some people really are beyond thick

chegirlmonkeybutt · 07/06/2010 14:04

Minthumbug calm the fuck down.

I didnt say they lied to kill the fox
I didnt say anything of the sort.

I HAVE NO RIGHT are you sure about that?

As for you understanding the sceptisism at the beginning of the thread because the attack was unconfirmed - well as far as I knew it was unconfirmed when I posted.

So does that make me less of a heartless bitch or have you made your mind up.

Get a grip.

chegirlmonkeybutt · 07/06/2010 14:13

Just reread your first post.

I notice you didnt actually read my post properly before leaping in.

So dont know why I am bothing to reply as its pointless.

I made a comment, I was actually sympathetic whatever happened. When I posted it was NOT confirmed and there were a lot of type comments on the news reports I heard.

But go ahead Mint. If it makes you feel superior.

Fill your boots while you polish your halo.

I cant be arsed.

it wasn't just chegirl though Mint

three people on the first page thought it was perfectly ok to say "nothing to do with foxes I bet"

ffs!

[wonders if can play the "Mumsnet At Its Worst" card]

TheBoyWithaSORNedMX5 · 07/06/2010 14:31

Has it been verified, Mint?

Ryoko · 07/06/2010 14:32

How very very strange, it's extremely unlike a fox to attack a person maybe it's rabid?.

are they sure it was a fox, my grandparents had a dog everyone thought was a fox and DF's brother had a similar dog which the neighbors called the RSPCA over because they thought he was keeping a fox in the house.

SpringHeeledJack · 07/06/2010 14:34

whether it has or hasn't been verified is surely immaterial?

no-one should be speculating on a parenting site imo. I reckon we should be leaving that sort of shite to the tabloids.

i absolutely feel for this family in what seems to be a tragic incident in for whatever reason a fox crept in and attcked the babies, lets all hope they are fine.

It has been reported that Mum has said one baby is fine, one isn't.

Chil1234 · 07/06/2010 14:45

I hope this puts the lie to the idea that foxes are cute and cuddly - they're vermin, just like rats, and their numbers are getting out of control. If they can't find enough to eat they are going to resort to killing pets and, if they get too bold around human beings, more attacks are likely. My local council (probably typical) doesn't provide a pest control service for foxes which is ridiculous. No point sending in the hounds in an urban setting but traps should be employed.

You don't know it was a fox just because one was trapped in the garden, thats like saying you know the kids where attacked by a human because someone spotted one leave the house and one was cought in a man trap outside the property a few hours later.

Now if they check the bite makes forensically and say they are fox I will believe it was a fox but right now I'm thinking could of been a dog or a rabid fox.

I see plenty of foxes they are bold, but not giving a damn about humans being around and attacking them are different things and as we have high levels of immigration in this country plus the fact bats have never been free of rabies and a fox would eat a bat I hope they at least check the dead one they have for disease before closing the case.

omnishambles · 07/06/2010 14:53

Ryoko - are you equating rabies with immigration

A rabid fox wouldnt go into the house quietly and up the stairs would it? it would be too busy frothing away in the garden...

FFS

Chil1234 · 07/06/2010 14:56

"right now I'm thinking could of been a dog or a rabid fox."

The mother discovered the fox in the room and the babies covered in blood!! She said that she screamed and shouted but the fox didn't move. You wait for the teeth-mark forensics if you like but that poor woman sounded completely genuine to me.

I saw the ITV news at lunchtime. They had cameras in the area last night and filmed several foxes wandering up and down the street, not giving a darn about anything.

If the police were in the slightest bit suspicious about the parent's version of events they would not allow the news coverage to be so indepth and widespread - look at what happened a few weeks ago with the two children that were killed in a house fire. The news reported that the mother had called the police and had allegedly been threatened before writing something along the lines of "they'll never get us" on her Facebook before the fire started. Within a day or two there was nothing on the news until a week later when they announced that the mother had been charged over the fire and deaths.

Ryoko · 07/06/2010 15:02

Foxes, rats and pigeons = wild life and they have just as much right to be here as we do.

I hate the way humanity hates any animal that becomes successful, if anything does well in this man made would of ours it is called vermin and people want it dead.

oh but if anything is rare or not doing so well it's another matter completely and it's all look at the cute ruddy ducks, where are all the lady birds and bees etc we must save them.

Starlings used to be everywhere in London, people called them vermin and complained and killed em, then they almost vanished and everyone bemoaned where have all the starlings gone, now they are making a comeback they will be called vermin again and people will complain about em again, it's a complete joke.

EdgarAllenPoll · 07/06/2010 15:04

growls<

could have been...

people did fear the opening of the chunnel might open the uk to rabies, though hasn't so far. immigration...nah. not a cause. preposterous.

Ryoko · 07/06/2010 15:09

"Ryoko - are you equating rabies with immigration shock

Yes some of them bring pets with them don't they, rabid animals just walk around dribbling, it's a progressive diseases they don't instantly go running around frothing at the mouth barking and trying to chew there own feet off after contracting it, you've been watching too much TV.

EdgarAllenPoll · 07/06/2010 15:14

haven't you heard of pet-passporting?
