Unlawful Killings

There are a number on thhere including those that trials did not finish, etc. This is a site, aimed at Justice (so not a police propaganda site).

Ah, dinosaur - found it

Moggymummy that's really sad. I do feel for asian men who are going to feel very uncomfortable now for a while. Please know that many people are aware of this and will not be looking at him in a suspicious way, at least that's what I hope.

Hulababy · 22/07/2005 16:01

No - I folled your advice..honest. Completly missed the heading there.

Fio2 · 22/07/2005 16:02

tyhere were lots of black men unlawfully killed, awful

edam · 22/07/2005 16:03

It is sad, Moggymummy. Thousands of people fit the vague description of the bombers and they may well get fearful responses from strangers. That is an unhappy situation. I'm not apologising for being scared, I'm just sorry that innocent peope will be treated with suspicion. I'm equally scared that the police may kill innocent people, either suspects who turn out to be innocent, or bystanders. Or even that the police kill guilty people - I don't want the police executing people, unless there is imminent danger. And history shows that often people are killed by mistake.

MoggyMummy · 22/07/2005 16:09

It is a truely sad and wierd time. I just hope we can all put this behind us relatively quickley and that we can all wander London freely, safely and without predjudice soon.

kid · 22/07/2005 16:10

They have issued pictures of the suspects here

monkeytrousers · 22/07/2005 16:10

The media should drop the term 'Islamic' terrorist and just call them terrorists.

Fio2 · 22/07/2005 16:19

i agree monkeytrousers and everytime I read your posts I think of vic reeves

dyzzidi · 22/07/2005 16:20

At the risk of sounding completely dumb I am amazed at how normal these bombers look. I don't expect them to wear a flashing sign saying terrorist but FGS how difficult it must be for police to identify them.

The Police certainly have a difficult job to do.

Also the man who was shot today was being followed from his home address and was the suspect from the OVAL. Not some random bloke off the street. Some eyewitness reports on the BBc are saying he was wearing a bomb belt.

Kelly1978 · 22/07/2005 16:32

I've jsut seen the pictures on msn here .

At least one of theose men isn't asian, and people are saying it isn't racist to avoid only asian men with bags? I'm not trying to label anyone as a racist, but I do believe it is racist behaviour if soemone gets off a bus because of an asina man with a backpack with no other jsutification.

kid · 22/07/2005 16:33

that link doesn't work Kelly1978

Kelly1978 · 22/07/2005 16:39

second try

kid · 22/07/2005 16:42

they work, quite clear pictures, someone must know them. I wonder if the man at the oval station is the man they shot today?

monkeytrousers · 22/07/2005 17:05

It's fear that makes someone get off a bus. Terrorism plays to the latent fears in us all - that's why it's so successful.

You can't switch off from being human and having these fears without loosing some of your own humanity - like the terrorists themselves. They expect racism to rise from this, and unfortunately it will. But getting off a bus isn't something anyone should get hett up about.

And there's a big difference between what we think we'd do in a situation and what we'd actually do.

WideWebWitch · 22/07/2005 17:21

Fantastic post Scummy. I've calmed down a bit but I am still deeply disturbed by some of the posts on this thread. Sophable, you're right about latent racism, I'm shocked too.

My point, and I don't know if I've got it across, is that if we start saying it's OK (and a lot of people on this thread are saying it's OK) to get off a bus/behave differently towards a group/s of people based on the colour of their skin, that way segregation lies. If everyone does it you will have white buses and asian buses. Unrealistic? What about that man who sat alone in a tube carriage this morning? It's happening. And a lot of people here seem to think that's ok! And that IS what we are mainly talking about, colour, although I know some people are saying it's age as well, like anyone can control what age or colour they are! Enid, you can choose to take off your Birkenstocks, no-one can change the colour they are, so imo it's not a valid comparison.

katierocket · 22/07/2005 17:24

www - I'm sorry but I just think this is too much. It's not to do with race. If there is a white male rapist attacking women in your area and you were on a bus late at night with a white male, it's quite possible that you would get off, doesn't mean you dislike white people. I just can't get that argument sorry.

Ladymuck · 22/07/2005 17:29

But there is difference between avoiding people/treating people differently all the time because of their skin colour (which I fully agree is racist) and being more cautious of people matching descriptions of criminals/terrorists at large in our area? And again, I can't see that anyone is saying that they would behave differently if a smiling pregnant Asian/redhaired woman came and sat down beside them.

WideWebWitch · 22/07/2005 17:31

People are doing the former though Ladymuck.

chicagomum · 22/07/2005 17:31

i can't see the analogy (is that the right word?) of travelling late at night with a single white male rape and sexual assualt is much more prevalent than terrorist attacks. imo it is well established that it is prudent to be cautious being a woman travelling alone at night but to tar all young asian men with the brush of being a potential bomber - well i find that shocking and a poor reflection on todays society

Fio2 · 22/07/2005 17:37

I cant belive that some of you think you will be able to tell whi is and who isn't a terrorist. the idea is laughable, regardless of skin colour or nose size. Like the rapist, eh?? sorry i don't get it

monkeytrousers · 22/07/2005 17:52

God this is so tricky. On the one hand people are scared, on the other they don't want to pander to the intentions of the terrorists, which is to inflame latent fears that globalisation has done alot to overcome.

It may well be some diluted form of predjudice that makes someone get off a bus, but I can't help thinking it isn't only white people that will find themselves in this quandry. All races and creeds under attack lets not forget. We're all threatened.

FIMAC1 · 22/07/2005 17:52

OF course (a majority) of the population are going to react differently, towards asians in the immediate aftermath of the bombings, thats bleeedin' human nature and anyone who says differently is VERY niaive - after 9/11 the food delivery guys from the Asian restaurants were not allowed in the Apartment buildings to deliver to the door, for quite some time afterwards and alot of the Asian Restaurants suffered greatly due to loss of customers in the actual restaurants - I really can't believe that this on-line 'argument' is going on - as others have said you will be wary of a nationality - eg in the 1970's it was an Irish accent

Get real!
