Oh no - I'm sorry but whilst I applaud her not caring what other people think, her legs look manly. So much nicer to have smooth lady legs surely?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 13:26

tbh not when you take into account all the arsing around that goes on to get there... i feel this might divide between the hairy and the Truly Hairy, though.

That is what my DH's legs would look like in heels. So I find it disturbing.

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2010 13:27

does she have no SHAME?

good for her

CatIsSleepy · 20/01/2010 13:28

nicer shmicer
the point is she doesn't care! which is quite refreshing

good for her. My legs would get at least that hairy if not more so if I didn't shave...

ronshar · 20/01/2010 13:30

OOO does that mean I dont have to shave mine anymore?
Can someone tell my DH it is cool to be hairy now

Hullygully · 20/01/2010 13:30

Hurray!

skidoodle · 20/01/2010 13:31

"So much nicer to have smooth lady legs surely?"

Well I'm a lady (although I prefer the word "woman") and my legs grow hair on them.

The only hairless parts of my body are my palms and the soles of my feet.

Thought that was the same for all humans?

Shave your legs, by all means, but there is nothing inherently female about hairlessness. It's more a reptilian trait than anything.

Songbird · 20/01/2010 13:32

And there are 269 comments! Being the DM, I wonder how many think it's an absolute disgrace. I had a hilarious conversation at my work Xmas do with the deputy director (a man) who seemed mortally offended that an external colleague (iyswim) has facial hair. I mean, really personally offended. I found it hard not to laugh, he was genuinely bemused "are there ways for women to remove facial hair?". What a dick! I tried to reason that maybe it just doesn't bother her (and even knowing her only slightly I can tell she really couldn't give a fig for grooming - academic, in her own world etc), but that just didn't compute.

But then, he wouldn't say as much, but we all know that he thinks women should be dinky and pretty, and either at home making his dinner and arranging flowers, or doing voluntary work somewhere. They certainly don't have a place in professional archaeology, and he will NEVER let a female colleague drive if he's in the car! Hilarious!

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2010 13:33

skidoodle, how about your forehead? Eyes?

SerenityNowAKABleh · 20/01/2010 13:33

I don't think men really comprehend the sheer volume of hair that women have naturally, and the complete pain in the arse it is to remove it. Particularly legs. And they just have a face to shave, and don't necessarily have to and can still be socially acceptable.

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2010 13:35

WOuldn't go that far, DH has a beard and it is completely unacceptable ;(

ChickensLoveMarmite · 20/01/2010 13:36

Agree Serenity. DH shaves roughly once a month. The grizzled look suits him though, and he is still considered handsome. If I didn't get the industrial sander out to my hairy bits every other day, I could have dreads just about everywhere.....

SkaterGrrrrl · 20/01/2010 13:36

Wot skidoodle said.

nickelbabe · 20/01/2010 13:37

I love her too, after that!

she's totally right - why should it matter?!

real legs.

she didn't look odd or horribly hairy, she just looked normal and natural

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 13:40

nah, she did look oddly hairy. mine get like that too and it;s like looking at a bloke's legs. more interesting question is why they look so odd, they're my legs.

ShauntheSheep · 20/01/2010 13:43

Good for her. I've given up shaving for the winter and its fabulous. So nice not to have to bother and end up with cuts etc.

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2010 13:43

i have ginger hair so you can't ever really see the hair on my legs - well not as hair anyway but as a blurring effect which makes you think your eyes have gone funny!

Ingles2 · 20/01/2010 13:47

this is just weird...why would the DM point this out? They wouldn't be running pictures commenting if she had spots or glasses or red hair or something else equally ridiculous.
She's wearing a floor length gown, she obviously thought no-one would see her legs, they're hairy...so what!

Ronaldinhio · 20/01/2010 13:50

I didn't know women grew hair on their body...shurely just their head??

whatever next?
Eating?
Sweating?
Farting?

Paolosgirl · 20/01/2010 13:51

Good for her!

I wonder if the DM realises how many very hairy women there actually are in winter time?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 13:52

oh it's definitely a story, and they would be running one if she had spots as well. perhaps you are unfamiliar with that organ?

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/01/2010 13:54

That's wonderful!

Have you seen 'Precious' btw?

It is so good, I cried a lot.

Meglet · 20/01/2010 13:56

My legs look like that between waxes . The beautician always says she likes doing my legs as she can see where she's been.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/01/2010 13:56

'larger-than-life ' fucking daily mail

What does that even mean
