Can you imagine if this was your child? I hope I am never an interfering MIL but I think I would be racking my brains to try to prevent this.

sad with so many potential opportunities she wants to play housey wifey

am appalled anyone has such low ambitions to be beholden to their husband and reliant upon him.in return for plumped cushions

i have no problem with them marrying at that age: it's more responsible than getting pregnant and not having much of a say in your own life.
I do (like others) have a problem with her wanting to be a "traditional" housewife.
There's something that just doesn't ring true about that. it's like she's decided that her life means nothing on its own and that she can't work as it's not worth it, just let the man do all the hard work.
i wonder how long it'll be before she's soo bored of being a housewife and is desperate for a job. i'm guessing the brother will take full advantage of the unpaid housekeeper living under his roof (cleaning and cooking etc, i mena)

I went to school with a couple who got married on her 16th birthday. 9 years later, they're still together, but don't want dc yet.

I did wonder (& please don't flame me) if they are gypsys (is that the correct term?) Only gypsys tend to get married at about 15/16 by all accounts & have hugely lavish weddings!

Of course I know that doesn't go for all of them!

Very sad that she wants to be a "traditional housewife" at 16 & not do anything else though
