DH has been running a campaign for years against the TV licence and has appeared in the Sunday Times this week.

I'm feeling quite proud of him.

The weird loophole is being looked at.

they should change the name of the tv license as it's misleading.

i haven't got a signal recieving license and also sick of ppl thinking you must have one if you own a tv, even if you don't watch tv :/

i ignore the letters the tv ppl send too, if i do want to watch something (which really isn't often) then i go to 4oD or youtube.

I have lived outside the UK and I can honestly say that along with the NHS, the BBC is great value for money and something we can be really proud of. The licence fee is great value for money.

I can't read the Times article as it's behind a paywall (oh, the irony!).

But OP's husband still sounds like a massive tool.

If you don't want to pay the licence fee, then don't have a television. Dead simple, really.

Article was 2+ years ago.

Trouble is, dontcha know, you cannot opt out of paying this daft fee even if you never watch the BBC, which is not the same as not watching TV, after all !!

The British Government spent a lot of money on research into and the setting up of the radio and television infrastructure in the 20s and 30s (on which all broadcasters exploit).

So they are entitled to charge in any way they see fit. Their gaff, their rules.
