Michelle Obama hugged the Queen!

Honestly Michelle Obama is such a goddess.
I wonder what the queen was thinking - ie was she gritting her teeth and thinking 'Must- not -flinch .... must - not - jeopardize Special Relationship' or if she was all 'OOooh Michelle Obama hugged me!'

LOL at how bemused/bored the Queen looks while listening to Sarkozy and Clinton chatting. A bit get-me-out-of-here expression on her face. Does she not have a lackey to rescue her from situations like that?

Prince Philip is titchy - have seen him at St James palace DofE award presentation and when he opened new building at college. Queen even smaller.

She looks nice in pink even if a bit too barbara cartland like.

Michelle Obama very tall though...

DH met the Queen last year, they were all briefed and given a huge list of things not to say. The guy before DH in the line was SN and he grabbed her hand between both of his and shook it firmly, apparently she was really relaxed about it and just smiled and chatted a bit with him. DH then got a formal Good Afternoon .

And dh said she is quite tiny

My aunt and uncle had the Queen to stay! And they had a rehearsal dinner (without the Queen herself, obviously!) with lots of people sent out from Buckingham Palace.

Aww, I love the Queen. She looks like a lovely granny-type figure.

You'd think she would have a secret hand gesture to mkae behind her back if she was bored with a conversation, for some lackey to come and rescue her.

I don't see why the iPod is funny, the Queen is apparently very interested in new technologies, and uses email a lot (I know email is not new, but c'mon, the lady's in her 80s).

The Obamas come across so well, I really like them. I don't find it at all strange that Michelle O and the Queen hit it off The Queen must be sick to death of people fawning around her and acting peculiar, must be good when someone is frank, direct and normal for a change.

And poor Sarah Brown - what was she wearing in that photo on the right hand side of the link? And her hair!

I'll admit she looked better than I do on the average Wednesday, but if I was going to photographed next to Michelle Obama by the world's media I'd have put on something more exciting than what appears to be a Boden Henley frill t shirt, and I'd have brushed my hair!

Yeah for the tall people! I love the way Michelle has the confidence to wear heels. As a fellow giant, I am always far too self conscious. English people are so very little.
