Just reported on news. Mother arrested, 21 years old. For the second time today and its not 9.00am, i am having to type, god bless those two innocent little children. My heart breaks for these poor children, they deserve better.

RIP

could you please refrain from posting OPs like this, it is upsetting. A neutral OP, "upseting story in the news" would be ok

Thankyou

Flossish · 13/11/2008 09:03
Hmm
piratecat · 13/11/2008 09:22

double

MummyMacca · 13/11/2008 09:23

What is going on in this country? Did I blink and miss a complete breakdown in morals, humanity and parental love for their children?

I am completely and utterly speechless. I can't even begin to understand why a parent would harm their child. If you don't want them, don't have them.

MummyMacca · 13/11/2008 09:25

Or at least allow them to go to a loving home.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 13/11/2008 09:26

Oh God haven't seen this yet.

I second MummuMacca, what the hell is going on in our society that every day we read about another innocent child.

Poor babies.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 13/11/2008 09:27

"Did I blink and miss a complete breakdown in morals, humanity and parental love for their children?"

Er, no, that would be if everyone was stabbing their children. This is just one case.

Seriously - this is awful and tragic but I don't think we need to read anything into it about wider decay of society. There has always been infanticide, sadly.

MummyMacca · 13/11/2008 09:31

Then is it just more widely reported now?

I'm beginning to suppose that because 'there has always been infanticide' and because, let's face it, it is in the news more and more, that people are becoming more likely to commit it. I am horrified, quite frankly.

ruty · 13/11/2008 09:33

oh for crying out loud.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 13/11/2008 09:42

It may be that it's neither more widely reported or increasing, but that you notice stories now you're a parent you wouldn't have given much thought to a few years ago.

theirmum · 13/11/2008 09:46

Why do people kill their kids I just dont get it your worst fear is someone hurting your children I feel very sorry for their Dad and grand parents! Rest in peace little ones

MummyMacca · 13/11/2008 09:54

Have considered that being a parent makes you more sensitive to stories in the news and it's possibly true. However, it can't be denied that we live in a much more violent society today.

I guess that is my overall fear.

FairLadyRantALot · 13/11/2008 09:58

poor little ones...that is just very very sad

nailpolish · 13/11/2008 09:59

we do not live in a more violent society, im sorry but i just dont believe that

we have better policing and reporting of crime

100 yrs ago you could commit a murder and hide it

100 yrs ago you only knew of the crime in your neighbourhood

now thats practically impossilbe

lulumama · 13/11/2008 10:02

am getting really tired of these thread titles. is it so hard to just do as suggested and write ' upsetting / sensitive story in the news" and let people choose if they want to see it

and agree wtih kathy and nailpolish re society

Dilemma, my first thought too.
puerpal psychosis is a terrible thing.

Luxmum · 13/11/2008 10:21

Sorry, I went immediately to this thread as this was the one that I had read in BBC and I wanted to comment on it. It is a statement of fact, if they were all titled 'upsetting..' then you'd be spending ages searching for the one you wish to discuss. Anyhow... my heart breaks for those children, I just wonder when the neighbours raised an allert with the Social Services, and where th rest of the family were to not be warned in time. I am so sad and sorry for the poor children. Sometimes I wished we had those baby-bins you have in big Indian cities, where you can abandone your unwanted babies and chrildren, and they will get picked up and looked after by someone else. At least then mums, presumably alone and frustrated, wouldnt resort to such acts of insanity.

Agree with Ruby, it is a statement of fact. Where is the voyeurism? If you don't like these titles it's probably a good idea to hide the news topic. And like Luxmum how am I supposed to find certain news stories if anything distressing can't be referred to specifically in the title?

It is a tragic story and I am sure that there are a lot of details yet to be disclosed. Poor family

ruty · 13/11/2008 10:29

people who disagree wthyou probably won't post on this thread.

piratecat · 13/11/2008 10:31

I too find the 'i don't want to see headlines like this' attitude precious. It's not ACTAULLY happened to you for goodness sakes, its a few words.

why didn't anyone complain about the Baby P thread title?

So what's the criteria for a non invasive title. No description, just and 'omg, something terrible has happened'?? can't have 32 thread with the same title.

altho i do wonder about that these days.

Malkuth · 13/11/2008 10:31

They already have! (Assuming it's me Ruty was saying that to.)
