Stop Witch hunting Ross and Brand

soooooo totally agree with this article

I am wondering which comedians will be fired next?

I guess people won't be happy until the BBC is running costume dramas 24/7.

JR is a contemptible man. Does anyone remember his interview with Jamie Oliver when JR said, "Well, do you ever think that some people shouldn't be allowed to be parents? Like people from council estates?" The audience cheered. TO his credit, Jamie Oliver was clearly very uncomfortable and upset and challenged JR.
I hope this row extends to the casual racism, misogyny and homophobia of the odious Chris Moyles too.

mabanana · 30/10/2008 15:54

Beany, I glanced through that Sun interview today and she did not, as far as I could see, say any such thing. She said he was obsessed and kept doing impersonations of Manuel. Not that he did it while having sex. Where did you read that?

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 15:55

'This does not seem to be the action of a concerned grandaughter.'

How do you know Sachs isn't proud of her for answering and not taking it lying down the way these two wastes of spaces may have wnated her to?

Get real!

Mr Sachs hasn't made his feelings known about her actions.

Maybe he isn't that sort of person.

As for her being a hypocrite.

LOL!

wintera · 30/10/2008 15:58

Re the council estate thing, that was an admittedly tasteless gag by Jonathan yes, but isn't he himself from a council estate or something? I think he was having a laugh at his own expense surely? Thats the way I took it anyway.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:00

Mabana - did you glance at the front page?

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:01

"DISGRACED Russell Brand yelled ?Qué?? as he romped with the granddaughter of Manuel actor Andrew Sachs, it was revealed yesterday. "

Bobbiewickham · 30/10/2008 16:04

To me, the worst bit of the whole debacle is the fact that Andrew Sachs had that shit on his answerphone.

I really honestly couldn't care less about rude and puerile humour. I like a bit of filth as much as the next person.

The whole debate has been broadened out far too much in my opinion. I think Tatchell etc are missing the point about mob rule and the BBC losing its cutting edge, etc.

As far as I am concerned, I don't pay my licence fee in order to enable two juvenile dickheads to phone up a 78 year old man at home and leave horrible messages about his family on his answerphone. It's harrassment.

Jonathan Ross is an overpaid mysoginistic bully, and I can't understand how he has been able to get away with his shitty behaviour for so long.

FWIW, my two boys have picked up on this story from the radio (it's half term and I wasn't quick enough to the off switch).

They think what those "men" did was horrible(they don't know all the details but they know they rang up an old man and were rude to him on the radio) and they think they should lose their jobs. So I kind of think it's important that such role models are shown to be held accountable for bad behaviour.

Pinkjenny · 30/10/2008 16:05

I completely agree with the article. I think it has been blown ridiculously out of proportion.

Bobbiewickham · 30/10/2008 16:06

God, yes!

She is wearing eyeliner

And has a cleavage

Fetch the ducking stool, quick

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:13

"Brand is back tonight with a new programme, about eccentric people and their pets. He introduces a series of clips including one in which an American woman talks about having a sexual relationship with her dog and says she fantasises about having sex with her horse. Brand muses on what the dog might be saying when the woman's husband takes it for a walk: 'This is awkward for me as well,' he offers, then, pointing out that he is about to defecate, the dog tells the husband (Brand says): 'Legally, you are obliged to pick that up" from the Evening Standard.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:16

another interesting article, parts of this are great

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:17

"So yet again the advice to Mark Thompson is to get up off his knees, where he and the BBC have cowered since the day Lord Hutton delivered his report, and quit the mea maximae culpae. His cringing to the forces of reaction, some motivated by commercial rivalry, others by envy and spite, others still by genuine but anachronistic distaste, has led the BBC halfway to perdition already. Another year or two of perpetual panic and sorry spinelessness (he has a lot to answer for, that Leonard), and the number of truly great British institutions will be reduced to 0.00."

mabanana · 30/10/2008 16:19

I noticed there was no quote at all saying that from Georgina herself. DIdn't you? I did notice a quote saying she wasn't going to go into any details about their sex life.

mabanana · 30/10/2008 16:21

God Beany, the way you go on, you'd think Georgina Baille had done something really horrible, like, I dunno, phoned up a perfectly lovely 78 year old and left a torrent of obscenities on his answerphone about his family, and then fantastised about breaking into his house and forcibly masturbating him.

EBenes · 30/10/2008 16:33

I think her hypocrisy is quite bad, if not really horrible. The 'fantasising', whether you found it funny or not, was not, in my opinion, meant maliciously.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:33

pmsl at Mabanana. I am only 'going on' as much as you are. From the way you go on you would think that the whole world will fall apart if Sachs's granddaughter doesn't give her side of the story to the press

I am SO looking forward to the News of the World piece.

The only victim in all this appears to be that poor old lovely 78 year old man. If I were him I would be feeling particularly patronised by now!

mabanana · 30/10/2008 16:36

Nope, but I'm not going to condemn her for speaking out IN RESPONSE to some pretty nasty misogyny. And I know what a kiss and tell is.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 16:46

OOh how come mabanana - do you have experience ?

Tortington · 30/10/2008 16:49

the priminister should say ! i'm not speaking on this 0 don't be bloody redic, i have a contry to run you tossers.

its very scary , very very very scary, how the tabloid media have blown this shit out of proportion.

way out of proportion, i cannot believe this is a fucking issue, when a woman was stoned to death the other day....oh but thats the arse end of no where with no oil....yes jonathon ross and rusle brand,,,now thats an impoirtant matter NOT

and you all still buy this shit.

its your fault for giving them your money.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 30/10/2008 16:50

well precisely custardo. Hear hear.

TheFallenMadonna · 30/10/2008 17:02

I think this is bonkers. I said yesterday that I thought the remarks were unkind, and they were, but God Almighty - 30 000 complaints?!

Totally agree with Custy re Gordon Brown too.

there do seem to be more important things to worry about tbh
not sure i understand the whole media frenzy

solidgoldskullonastick · 30/10/2008 19:31

With a bit of luck, a kitten will get stuck up a fucking tree somewhere near Prince William, who can then heroically cut his willy finger rescuing it and the tabloids can froth about that for the rest of the week. It's not as if anything important is happening the world, is it?

UnquietDad · 30/10/2008 19:33

I'm pissed off with them because they pushed the proper big entertainment story of the week off the front pages! David Tennant is leaving Who, folks!!
