Have we not had a discussion about this? I'm surprised.

Seedy, sordid, unfunny little men pad obscene amounts of money to be obscene.

What's your view?

Thanks, wintera.

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 14:52

Does anyone really find JR entertaining? I find myself toe-curling when he interviews people.
He is not funny at all (im not talking about this incident- I mean in general) He is a bit of a prick.

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 14:53

LOL. sorry! But as you so clearly dislike him you wouldn't have ever listened to him over a long period of time yourself right??? Just teasing. As you were

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 14:55

TC- me??

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 14:55

And obviously when your toes curl you turn over and don't bother tuningin next week.

And fwiw, he makes me cringe sometimes but he also makes me LOL too. I think he was an idiot and bang out of line with the whole Sachs thing. But yes in general he has been known to make me LOL on his TV show and on the radio, yes.

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 14:57

Tiredemma - LOL! This is all over the place.

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 14:57

My original tease was to Sobernow btw.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 29/10/2008 14:58

Yes he makes me laugh too. And about every other week I have to drive an hour and half for ds1's shiatsu appointment, and I will miss him if he's not on. He makes me laugh a lot as well. That was one of the most disappointing things about the phone calls, they weren't even remotely funny, but went on and on.

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 14:59

Im actually more interested in his guests, than him. But DP loves him so I have to watch it. (remote hogger and all that)

ScottishMummy · 29/10/2008 15:03

i thinK JR is generally funny.RB a twat.on this occassion both got it wrong

Panfriedpumpkin · 29/10/2008 15:05

David Bowie handled JR best on his show - when JR was getting all pervy over sex on tv, DB just looked blank and said 'no, I don't watch that. It isn't my taste. Next question?'.

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 15:06

I think Russel Brand's Ponderland is really funny. Have never listened to his radio show though.

LouMacca · 29/10/2008 15:11

I do like JR but am far more interested in his guests. He has had some fab people on recently (apart from Ricky Gervais who is always on it). I taped Stevie Wonder on JR a few weeks ago and have watched it a dozen times. He can be very funny and quick witted but can get tiresome with his smutty material.

Have never got RB.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 15:13

They're fairly average tbh there are definitely funnier people that should have the airspace.

Upwind · 29/10/2008 15:15

A colleague just told me that Jo Brand sometimes does cover for Ross' radio programme. I really enjoy her work and might even tune in if she is doing it this week.

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 15:16

God fruitstick you sound thick.

The reason it is different for her as a woman, is because we live in a society which judges women harshly for having sexual intercourse outside of a committed relationship while it still doesn't judge men.

No one says "he should keep his pants on". But "keep her knickers on" is the mantra of the thick sexist.

ricky gervais has become sickenly irritating boasting about all the film roles he has turned down, think he might regret that one day..

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 29/10/2008 15:18

Jo Brand does it with thingumyjig whose name I can't remember. A bloke. It's quite funny, but JR and his sidekick are funnier

LittleBella - personal attack - not nice.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 15:19

I think it's a bit harsh to call someone thick just because they don't agree with you.

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 15:23

I didn't call her thick because she doesn't agree with me. I called her thick because she used that stupid, vulgar, mysogyist expression "keep her knickers on". The other one that makes me see red is "keep her legs closed".

That kind of casual crass sexism from women about other women makes me sick.

But yes you're right, it was a personal attack, so my apologies fruitstick. I shouldn't have called you thick, I apologise.

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 15:23

Jo Brand. I heart her- met her recently, she is FAB.

I would tune into her

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 15:26

erm like no has ever said 'can't keep his dick in his pants..'

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 15:26

I wonder if age is an excuse? The producer, I have heard, was young and left in charge of two unruly 'talents' - I still think that the buck stops with the producer though. Should have known and followed the guidelines!
