The celebrity has lost his bid for a permanent injunction to prevent The Guardian and ITN from publishing allegations that he abused his status to attempt or attempt to engage in “inappropriate sexual activities with a large number of girls and young women.”

There remains a temporary injunction preventing him from being named in order to allow an appeal against the judgement.

Celebrity loses injunction bid but will stay anonymous pending appeal

The unnamed man asked for an injunction to stop his identity being reported in connection with allegations against him.

Lives are also ruined by the kind of behaviour these allegations are about.

A large number of girls and young women.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Today 17:50

Not that I support him but will everyone be pleased if he commits suicide?

Posters seem to be assuming it's not a lady.

Yea sure, because there are so many female sex offenders, and so many female sex offenders who offend against women and girls.

He's dead. This is about people who are alive and not convicted or even charged with any wrongdoing.

Lives can be ruined by "allegations" that are neither substatiated nor prosecuted.

Were he alive Saville would have been prosecuted and jailed.

Actually, I disagree. Saville had an awful lot of people in his pocket, many influential connections, and did a lot for police charities. Lots of people knew of his wrongdoings when he was alive, yet he was Teflon, somehow.

In the case of today's news story, there are allegedly over 30 victims who have come forward. They deserve justice.

No, he needs to be held to account and the victims need justice

And they're more likely to get it if "everyone" hasn't decided his guilt before it goes to court.

If he's done what he's trying to hide having done to young women and girls then yes, wouldn't bother me.

I think you’ve missed the point of people saying the unnamed ‘is not a lady’…!

But he might top himself like Epstein did.

Is the celebrity also the character referenced in Baby Reindeer? The one RO described as an open secret?

I’m not so sure JS would have been prosecuted and jailed. A lot of people only spoke out simply because he was dead and they felt safe to do so. Historical abuse is very very difficult to believe beyond reasonable doubt.

Maybe if swimlin had spelled it "Laydeeee"....?

Maybe we should console the mystery celebrity by buying him a painting. Of a disappointed horse. In front of industrial Sheffield. At dusk. Or something.

Exactly. Also not sure why that poster thinks it ok to assume Saville was guilty just on the strength of having been “accused” but never stood trial, but not ok to name someone as accused in a newspaper.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Today 18:08

While not excusing any offence committed, the press hounding people to commit suicide is not the kind of society I want to see.

In prison?

WimbyAce · Today 18:10

I will be interested as to what those who were close to him have to say and if they are distancing themselves. Thinking in particular of Amanda Holden who always championed him.

They are not hounding anyone to commit suicide, they’re doing their job by reporting facts of people accused and awaiting trial etc. If he really feels at risk of harming himself he should check himself in to a facility that deals with these things.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Today 18:14

I'm just remembering the monstering of the bloke in that murder case, the landlord who turned out to be innocent. What if he'd commited suicide for something he didn't do? Everything is now trial by media. As we know Cliff Richard was innocent of accusations.
