according to the times and f365.
so admitting a violent assault while already in jail for a seperate vicious assault and all he gets is a suspended sentence?
an absolute joke, this scumbag should do proper time.

youtube of the first assault he is currently serving time for.

herman....dittany, apologies for the sarcasm......just a bit fed up thats all

you are right in what you say

He's committed two crimes (at least) and has been treated with surprising leniency for the second. That's what's objectionable. The man is clearly a thug.

no i don't think he should still be punished further for the first sentence.and completely agree with those who think he should be banned from football as if he serves his time he has a right to earn a living.
what i find unbelievable is that someone who is currently serving time for a violent crime, can plead guilty to another violent crime of a similar nature and not receive a custodial sentence. and not only that but he may still elligeble for early release in just a matter of days.
it just baffles me that this can happen and then people wonder why these scumbags have no problem committing further crimes.
and in my mind it is because there is absolutely no deterrant.

for me it is summed up by the author of the first article when he writes

"While the two separate attacks were thought likely to bring a halt to his playing career, they are instead set to become a relatively minor inconvenience."

dunno, dittany, what do you think I'm saying?

I am saying that he didn't get away with it. He was sentenced by a court of law.

If you think that that sentence was inappropriate, then it is down to the court, not Barton himself. The one thing he absolutely cannot be blamed for is the sentence that the court give him.

I just think that regardless of whether you agree with the sentence or not, once it is served, it is done. Over. Finished. As it would be with any other criminal.

and no, I wouldn't particularly want to work with him. But I hope that I would be able to treat him civilly. After all, he has been to prison and "paid" for his crimes.

oh i completely blame the court for the sentence no arguments there.
i blame barton for being a despicable scumbag.

I can't be bothered to get into the argument about the court case, except to say the man obviously needs an anger management course whether in prison or whilst serving a community order, but I would like to see him barred from playing football, if only for a limited length of time once released.
