He was the perfect victim for Cambridge, elevated to a position he was under qualified for, being paraded around like a pet, for them to brag about because he was black and young.
A pet that seemed to enjoy being thrust in the spotlight and, perhaps told a tall tale of two but had been able to get away with it for so long, why would he stop whilst he remained in gainful employment?
Candidates lie on CVs all the time, that it why it was up to the employer to do their due diligence.
Cambridge used JA for nothing more than the fact they could shield themselves from criticism of not having much diversity in race and age amongst their professors.
Is JA blameless? Absolutely not, he reported an investigative journalist to the police when challenged on the claims which ultimately the public became aware of and said that this line of questioning could be racist.
He was also the one happily telling anyone who would listen about his amazing (fabricated) feats and letting white students know that if they disagreed with his markings, it was due to their white privilege. It seem JA knew what words to use to insulate himself from criticism much in the same way Cambridge knew what they were doing with his appointment.
Nearly everyone besides the students and the journalist seems to have something to answer for.
The main problem with this case is that there was a a form of racial prejudice from the very beginning which unfortunately resulted in a young man taking his life, it’s not the racial prejudice many people are highlighting though.
I’ve made my feelings well known on this case in the other thread.
the weaponisation of racism, usually defined by white liberals, to stifle debates do nothing for us black and ethnic minorities.
In fact it’s very insulting and does nothing to help us but hinder us, it’s almost like we should be celebrated for mediocrity, criminality and other negative traits because we are being held to an uneven standard to further a very nefarious agenda.
Cases like JA now will make it very difficult for truly deserving black and minority people to hold positions because of this complete and utter farce.
At the end of the day a man lost his life and needlessly so, it would never have snowballed into this had Cambridge appointed the most qualified man or woman for the job instead of deliberately seeking out JA because he fit a tick box exercise.
