BPA and Phthalates in baby bottles

I was wondering how many other mums are worried enought to change their baby bottles if they contain BPA / Phthalates? I have a science degree and I know they are in nearly everything so you can't avoid them totally - like any risk in life. Has anyone changed their bottles and if so to what brand? I think MAM are BPA free and some Nuby are as well. Mind you I have already been using my current BPA loaded brand since ds1 was born. My science head says not too worry as nothing is totally safe but my mummy head says I should reduce the risk

Yawn at DWP's pointless hijack. If you don't have anything constructive to add, then don't. I do remember seeing the threads you mention, so I'm aware that you've got stuff going on but theres no need to attack people for no real reason. Theres a lot of that on Mumsnet at the moment and its sad because its affecting the "feel" of the place, which has always been helpful and friendly..

Kiskidee - I agree re the Canadian etc government's stance affecting my opinion - scares come and go but thats a big red flag IMO. What did you end up deciding to use?

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 15:38

The only reason stacks of others haven't been on here defending my bored'
arguement about plastic and bottles is because it has been done yawnsome amount of times before.

You are the one who got nasty. I don't even recognise you, interesting you know who I am.

talilac · 19/05/2008 15:58

Its hard not to know who you are, you're all over the board! Not all of us post all the time, or even browse all the time, why would you know us and why would we want you to? But it doesn't make our opinions any less valid.

Likewise, just because a topic has been covered doesn't mean that it cant get discussed again, by different people. Mumsnet has a huge readership, and most of it is people like us who aren't on every day and don't read every single thread going.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 16:08

Nasty again.

I don't read or post every thread going as you say, just the ones that stick out to me. Up until recently I was a freelancer at home so at the pc all day, and as a mumsnet addict responded to threads I could answer on, I'm sure (or hope) I've helped a few people.

These days I'm at the pc all day not even fecking working, just trying and hoping for a little respite from my shit life.

Let's leave it at that. I've never even seen you on mumsnet before so this is all bullshit. Sorry to hijack your yawnsome thread (just search in future won't you)

kiskideesameanoldmother · 19/05/2008 16:54

yup. deffo sense of humour failure from someone who thinks she has a SOH in the first place.

I have no need or inclination to 'prove' anything to you DWP. I can't even believe you asked for me to provide proof. Surely you can't find yourself that important.

And it would just be a waste of time.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 16:59

You have either massively misunderstood me or you are the one with a problem.

I told you to search as less than a fortnight ago there was a thread on this very same topic, with many more threads linked to it.

Why am I still here. It's like school all over again.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/05/2008 16:59

What the hell has happened on this thread? How very surreal!

It also worries me that BPA has been banned from bottles in the USA, that is a major factor in deciding to get BPA free bottles.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 19/05/2008 17:02

I used MAM bottles on recommendation from a friend. She used them because she found her dd who had tongue tie took well to them. Her dd's infant feeding specialist who she went to see WRT her dd's feeding problems was also well impressed with the design of the nipple and bottle and took the name down as the MAM Ultivent bottles were new on the market 4 yrs ago. So it was just by coincidence that I used them really. Dd took ebm at nursery from them and I am well impressed with them as feeding bottles go.

They make Avent bottles look like cheap crap.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 19/05/2008 17:03

sorry still can't be arsed with wasting anytime searching for anything to prove to you, dwp. is that hard to imagine or accept?

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 17:13

I am devastated.

I gather DWP is having a few problems at the moment. Yes, everyone has their opinion, but it always helps if it is a constructive one - DWP opinion was not, it was rude.

I hope things turn around for DWP soon.

FAQ · 19/05/2008 18:40

well I'm here - I also couldn't give two hoots about the whole stuff in the news.....I'm coming to the end of feeding DS3 - and with no plans to have anymore (fat chance of that right now even if I wanted to LOL) I'm certainly not going to fork out for glassbottles for DS1,2 AND 3 to run around and smash (and even if they're unsmashable I'm still not going to buy them).

Mind you having seen this thread I know now why TDWP didn't email me as promised - too busy arguing (but she's right - it HAS been done to death in recent weeks )

no, you haven't said that yet starlight but go ahead if you like. [manly voice]

HW: DWP's mumzilla comment was unwarranted and before that everyone else on the thread seemed to have been blithely ignoring her opinions.

surely she knows by now that if she was trying to be erm, funny, that funny does not always translate well on a msg board and any erm, misinterpretation of her jokes needs to take it on the chin. And I can't expect anyone to excuse my online cheek because I am having issues at home. Is that being fair or no?
