'However cosmetic surgery expert Dr Patrick Bowler, who appeared on the TV programme Ten Years Younger, said he was sceptical about the supposed benefits of Baby Bottom Butter.

"The women buying this may think it will make their faces as smooth as a baby's bottom, but the truth is that while it's likely to be quite a good moisturiser there's really nothing extraordinary about it.

"And if they're buying it because they have babies, they're likely to be quite young themselves, which means they'll have pretty good skin anyway."'

Obviously written by a fecking man, firstly we may not all be that young, but secondly why doesn't he try waking up 4 times a night, not eating properly and having dribble, food and snot rubbed into your skin and see what that does for it!

And it's the very fact that there is nothing extraordinary about that makes it so fab, we don't need your pro-retinal A, parabens and nutri-cerimide, we like the fact that there is nothing in it.

LOL at the comment of the 'expert' quoted at the bottom of the DM article, who just happens to be a plastic surgeon (so no conflict of interest there then ) saying "...if they're buying it because they have babies, they're likely to be quite young themselves, which means they'll have pretty good skin anyway."

He obviously hasn't seen the kip of me most mornings with the skin on my face looking like a dried flannel

Not been on MN for a couple of days but when I caught the end of the BBC article and they mentioned Waitrose and a "mums website" in the same breath, I instantly thought "MN in the news again"

KaySamuels · 19/04/2008 08:52

I really want some of this but don't have a waitrose nearby. If anyone can get any could they post me some? Could paypal the costs. [hopeful emotion]

"And if they're buying it because they have babies, they're likely to be quite young themselves, which means they'll have pretty good skin anyway."
lolololololol
that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long while
what a twonk

Did anyone watch the Tonight programme last night on ITV?
It was about the prices of products in the UK compared to the US and they touched on beauty products.

They had this beauty expert on and she pulled 2 anti ageing creams with both the same ingreadiants.
One was just under £2 and the other was just over £100 and they had both the same ingreadiants in.

Unbeliveable.

She also said that the 3 things to look for in these creams now are antioxidants, Vitamin A and Nadine Baggots favourite, Pentapeptides.

lol. i have really bad dry skin on my legs, so dry its been bleeding (dry skin everywhere.) i started using bottom butter on one leg, and dream cream on the other to see which works best. so far bottom butter is working best.

MrsMattie · 19/04/2008 08:56

Hilarious!

KaySamuels · 19/04/2008 08:59

misdee are your legs odd now then?

spicemonster · 19/04/2008 09:04

Lazy journos - tsk

misdee · 19/04/2008 09:07

my legs have always been odd. dream cream is better at sinking in, not as greasey, but the bottom butter works well. i am thinking of using dream cream in the morning, and bottom butter at night until they heal up again.

EffiePerine · 19/04/2008 09:08

I have looked for this in a random Waitrose but to no avail

does mean I have not compromised my 'never knowingly shopped in Waitrose' stance

maybe I should try John Lewis instead

EffiePerine · 19/04/2008 09:08

I do like dream cream tho - love the smell

the dream wash is great as well - have you tried that?

misdee · 19/04/2008 09:11

not tried the dream wash. i was too distracted last week by their shampoo bars in the shop...

i blame dh for my dry skin. its a mix of preg hormones and the fact he bought the wrong soap powder.

EffiePerine · 19/04/2008 09:11

it is great and v calaminey and lavendery

Mail order

mamabutters · 19/04/2008 16:13

misdee, have you tried Lush's Helping Hands? I had bad excema on my arms for two months (prob stress related due to the end of my mat leave, bah) and it's totally cleared it up... the prescribed betnovate just made it horrible and soggy

KristinaM · 19/04/2008 16:23

i am 46 and have a baby. Does thsi make me young and beautiful again?

expatinscotland · 19/04/2008 16:24

hmm, i may try this for stretch marks.

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 16:30

its never in stock in my waitrose

FriedGreenTomatoes · 19/04/2008 16:31

OMG - I can't believe my post and recommendation caused such a stampede that I have been quoted in the Daily Mail.

I'm never going to be able to get my hands on another pot now am I. I should've just kept quiet!!

expatinscotland · 19/04/2008 16:31

how about online, ms?

southeastastra · 19/04/2008 16:32
