H&M pap chase/Blackgrid

Shouldn't Blackgrid just release the footage?

There is SO much consternation.

If it was as low key as everyone seems to think and Blackgrid just release it - we would have all the answers.

I am going to give a little bump here.

They own ther footage as we know from their statement.

It would be an easy fix.

If there had been a 2 hour "near catastrophic" car chase, there would be oodles of car phone footage from passers by.

None has emerged. And their driver denies that it was a chase, and says he felt perfectly safe throughout (source, his interview to the Washington Post).

I'm just chalking this up as another of their "truths"

4plusthehound · 18/05/2023 14:06

There would also be audio - we could hear it as wellas see it.

That would show us how easy going the paps were or hpw far they were willing to push it - ie if the decisions made in response were over the top or not.

Have you no interest in seeing the paparazzi footage?

H&M would probably sue if someone released a video that showed the truth.

That may happen or may not.

But Blackgrid could solve a few problems by releasing the video.

They could certianly prove the Sussexs to be liars right?

Netflix has bought the rights.

Just following on from previous thread, this is Scobie on Newsnight saying that at points they were driving at 80mph. (@0.48 seconds in).

https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/1658959772362653698

If true, and that's doubtful, then that is also dangerous and completely unnecessary.

StormzyinaTCup · 18/05/2023 14:23

I expect there is a lot of price haggling going on between photographers and various outlets. Any photos taken that evening have now, following the Sussex's statement, increased in value considerably.
Kerching $$$$ !!

Why is that doubtful @StormzyinaTCup ?

Call me an old cynic, but it's generally acknowledged that Diana courted certain members of the press and was known to tip them off as to her whereabouts. Hasn't markle just taken on a new rottweiler of a publicity agent?

Why would the paps have been interested in "chasing" H&M yesterday? They had been at a well publicised event, there were loads of opportunities for photographers to take pictures. Loads of pictures and video footage was released - why would photographers have been desperate for a picture of them in a car? Doesn't add up to me, but as I said I'm old and cynical.

Dinoflaw · 18/05/2023 14:32

It's Backgrid and not Blackgrid.

Tricky for them as they recieve a lot of tips from MMs team so probably hesitant to release it and confirm she's a liar.

Excatly that - so many are questioning it why not release the footage?

It would be a public service at this point right?

Blackwater Agency seems to have it all - just do a dump?

Backgrid!

Releasing the footage will only show what happened on that night surely?

They don't have to say or do naything besides?

No matter who did or did not call, the contention is around the claim made by the DoS that they were chased/followed for two hours and there was dangerous behaviour.

Backgrid could clear it up in a sec!

Thanks I've just watched it. Ffs - 80mph in their own car, not the taxi. Their own SVU entourage. I presume the driver(s) carry the can, legally, for the breaking of the law?

Harry's got form for this (putting drivers under pressure to break speed limits at his royal behest). But this time, in the car in New York, he had his wife and MiL with him, possibly wearing seatbelts at that point and possibly not. They were pictured not wearing them in the taxi after all this '80mph' stuff had happened. I think it's very concerning.

Prince Harry drove through tunnel where Diana died at 65mph in bid for ‘closure’

‘The tunnel is called Pont de l’Alma, I told him. Yes, yes. He knew it,’ the Duke of Sussex reportedly wrote in his memoir, Spare

I think Harry is mentally unwell and being in that situation triggered him to act erratically or command the driver to do certain things. In the few photos that emerged, he looks almost manic, filming with his own phone and Meghan has a tight lipped smile like she's trying not to tip him further. She probably knows this side of him very well. It was also "her night" and she looked incredible after a hiatus from the spotlight so it was obvious that the car chase bullshit would fully overshadow the prize she received and the causes behind the gala show.

Tbh she is probably going to use incidents like this one as justifiable reasons for divorce further down the line. Harry is the loose cannon that generates most of the security risks that face her and her family. When Meghan is by herself with the kids or her mother then there's very little press intrusion. She was literally off the radar from Dec till May. My bet is that in 5 years time she'll be divorced and working in Hollywood under the new management company she signed with. If she does more acting, voiceover or production work then she doesn't need to keep selling personal stories and thus generating all the drama around them.

And look at Doria in the photos that we have seen - eyes downcast.

That's very interesting observation, @User1432423532. And quite a concerning and poignant one, regarding the women in the car(s) i.e. Meghan and Doria.

Are you interested in seeing the footage the paps took?

No, I think intrusive photography is wrong

Fizbosshoes · 18/05/2023 19:59

I've no idea what happened as I wasn't there. But you do see press taking pics in and from cars and they usually aren't great pics. Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but why do paps do that? There was opportunity to get clear, good, posed pics when they were at and leaving the event. Why do we need blurry, grainy pics of them in a car...?
(I think the same when you see them snapping pics outside police vans arriving at court with high profile defendants/criminals - has anyone ever actually got a pic of anyone in a police van - I've never seen one. You usually get the defendant being led out with a jacket or towel over their face!)

DuchessOfPort · 18/05/2023 20:05

I don’t think we should see any paparazzi footage. If it wasn’t set up for maximum publicity or to aid his case to be an IPP - and TO BE CLEAR, I’m NOT saying it was - but if it this was them being trailed after the awards ceremony and their incompetent team didn’t know to go to a hotel then have three town cars leave from the back and H&M leave 15 mins after THAT… then no one should be making money out of the photos. What’s so interesting about them in the back of a car anyway? Nowt.

MrsFinkelstein · 18/05/2023 21:16

I have no interest in seeing intrusive footage gained in this manner.

The truth about the non-existent car chase seems to be coming out anyway.

They're all trying to get that ONE shot, that will make them a lot of money and buy them a house. It's also a game and a competition between the paps.

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 18/05/2023 21:52

I wonder if Backgrid haven't released the photos yet because it's incriminating of their paps? After all, driving recklessly with no number plates is criminal.

Boudicasbeard · 18/05/2023 22:08

My opinion: Backgrid haven’t released the whole footage yet because it was the Sussex’ who tipped them off and they are now in the sticky situation of having fallen out with the client.

All Harry’s posturing via a spokesperson sounds like PR posturing. They want it to sound ‘catastrophic’ but no one is buying it.
