here

So awful. Can't imagine what the family are going through.

If you have blind cords, perhaps it would be an idea to hook them up and out of reach of young children? Not something you would normally think of.

This very nearly happened to ds1 once, when visiting a friend, when he was about 19 months. He got it caught round him and managed to run one or two steps while I sprang across the room to free him. I often think of it and shudder.

Poor little girl.

This happened to a friend of ours, but her toddler survived, thank goodness, and she spread the message to every parent she knew. Poor, poor family.

I think this was mentioned in my antenatal classes, but it should be more widely publicised.

I always loop mine up and use a clippit (plastic bag close thingy) to hold them well high, so that DS can't fiddle.

Heartbreaking, poor little girl.

Have blinds in the kitchen and have the cords tied up high, but its so easy to not think about this sort of thing.

Poor poor family

If they have other children hen, you could take over a casserole/ lasagne or something -I doubt the parents will want to eat (although obv they need to) but the kids will and it will help.

I've read about these sorts of accident before. I've always been paranoid about blind cords.

poor family - such a terrible story.

When Ds twins were little I had PND and my parents used to treat any little concerns I had as ridiculous and because I was 'a bit mad'. I was really worried about the chords on blinds and made sure they were always tied up for this very reason - and they really did think i was making a fuss about nothing.

i saw an american talk show a couple of years ago that highlighted this and many other common causes of fatal accidents in the home. i cut the cords that day.

awful for the family.
