that must have been scary califrau.

Blandmum · 30/01/2008 19:03

people with leukemia often die of Pneumonia or another opertunistic infection.

The leukemia doesn't kill them directly, but because it means they can't fight infections effectivly it does hasten their end IYSWIM

just seen it on the new bulletin what-sit - heard he was ill but still quite a and .

DH's mum died from pneumonia 8yrs ago, otherwise fit and healthy - very scary

WinnieThePooh · 30/01/2008 19:05

I have just heard this on The One Show.

So

melsy · 30/01/2008 19:05

I met his son at a very crazy party at my cousins house many many years ago. I met him last summer at a charity event he compared.

A shame so young.

McDreamy · 30/01/2008 19:05

DH has hospitalised a couple of very young babies with pneumonia over xmas and new year. Very scary and upsetting.

Mercy · 30/01/2008 19:07

'You've been framed' is my dc favourite programme.

I know his type of humour has been out of favour in recent years but he was very popular during the 80s and 90s.

Poor bloke - and family of course.

belgo · 30/01/2008 19:08

'You've been framed' was hilarious

VVVQV · 30/01/2008 19:08

i heard on bbc news a while ago. Terribly sad and untimely

RTKangaMummy · 30/01/2008 19:09
Sad
Kimi · 30/01/2008 19:19

he was really funny

CaptainUnderpants · 30/01/2008 19:26

Blimey -

Heated · 30/01/2008 19:30

Sad, but expected I think.

bogie · 30/01/2008 19:31
Shock
Buda · 30/01/2008 20:05

I was shocked too. Haven't heard much of him recently but remember seeing him on TV some years ago now talking very openly about male infertility. Not sure if he was infertile but they certainly struggled to have their children - he knew his wife was OK as she had 2 already. He talked very openly about cold showers and wearing boxers etc to improve sperm levels etc.

Very sad.

NomDePlume · 30/01/2008 20:07

Blimey. Not a fan but what a sad thing for a person to die so young.

PatsyCline · 30/01/2008 20:20

Poor man. Pneumonia is awful. DD2 has had it three times (she is very vulnerable to anything lung related)and my much-loved aunty died from it last year.

WendyWeber · 30/01/2008 20:22

He always seemed like a really nice bloke (albeit very annoying in his Beadle's About persona) and I've been reading lots of tributes from people who knew and worked with him, and about his charity fundraising.

It is very sad and 59 is so young

tissy · 30/01/2008 20:53

blimey

I remember his late night show on LBC about 30 years ago, before he got into tv- much better than his later work imo

notalone · 30/01/2008 21:09

Oh no. He was a part of my childhood really. And so young. Feel very sad for him and his family

yummylittlelapin · 30/01/2008 21:12

How sad

I think he was widely regarded as a bit cheesy in latter years but we all watched You've Been Framed and Beadle's About when I was young.

suedonim · 30/01/2008 21:15

I'm not a particular fan of Jeremy Beadle but this is very sad news, poor man. It makes you realise just how fragile our hold on life can be.

Botbot · 30/01/2008 21:15

That's really sad. He's one of those people who's always been there, through my whole life.

It's obviously weird death month.

Mind you, I have to say I pmsl when my brother just sent me a text saying 'watch out - Beadle's not about'

Ledodgy · 30/01/2008 21:17

That's so sad. I rememeber him most in Game for Laugh.
