I remember watching 2 hours of telly after school, didn t do me any harm etc.

But tellies in kids' bedrooms. Tsk. [how common, emoticon]

Aah Cody in the House...I tried to disapprove of it until I ended up watching an episode and snorting with laughter rather too often . Ditto Suite Life. Have a pretty sad sense of humour I think.

what about something helpful like 'i appreciate diversity but manners cost nothing'?

SueBaroo · 16/01/2008 11:33

But only one telly, in the front room, and only specific programmes. And anyone who does it differently to me is obviously wierd.

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/01/2008 11:33

Aitch - same as you, dd has a telly in her bedroom but not tuned in. I am NOT going to have High School Bastard Musical on for the 80th time in the sitting room.

She's all right, she plays sports, does well at school, has a life outside telly. She just watches telly to relax, like most people.

Might get her telly plumbed in though to avoid contamination by Tracey Beaker

Stepson doesn't have telly in his room so also endure Hollyoaks (I run in the kitchen and hide)

SorenLorensen · 16/01/2008 11:36

I don't know if we have Challenge - I don't think we do.

Star Wars is fab, cod (I say so and so do my boys). How are you getting on with The West Wing?

we have 2

one in main room for normal stuff, one in playroom/dining room for dh to watch his football crap and rant

none in bedrooms, pet hate of mine

girls watch Milkshake in morning, good distraction so I can comb hair, will watch Little Bear before they go to bed

am not bothered about tv usage tbh, my Dad got rid of our tv when we were younger and made me feel like a weirdo at school and left out

I would rather my children fit in and watch tv than not know who Fifi etc are

Elphaba · 16/01/2008 11:38

Cant' get mine into SW either but I LOVE it. They love Lego Star Wars on PS2 though

Elphaba · 16/01/2008 11:39

Oh cod - dh does that, drives me NUTS

TV fine as part of a balanced mix of activities. Trouble is, it becomes the default activity, so potentially stifles the ability to find other (more active/creative/sociable) things to do.

We have no TV, but we do use the BBC's iPlayer now to see things we really want. Somehow, the extra effort involved in logging on and finding things helps us (and the kids) avoid the slump into mindless goggle-eyes mode. So far, anyway

Oliveoil · 16/01/2008 11:42

dh HATES Lazy Town, quite murderous in his thoughts re Stephanie and STingy

I tell him it is not AIMED at him and to go away

(btw, has anyone seen the trailers for Yo Gabba Gabba?

SorenLorensen · 16/01/2008 11:42

I like Damages but dh doesn't (he really doesn't like Glenn Close - he keeps saying "gah, she's evil.") I was thinking about it and I think I was hooked on WW by episode 2, and by the end of season 1 I was convinced it was the best TV ever.

We have 1 TV in the living room, btw, but we have another one in the study(ha) that the X-Box is connected to and you can watch TV on that though we rarely do. For now, one TV works fine though I imagine as ds1 hits teenagerdom and begins to hate us he may want a TV in his room. Will cross that bridge when we come to it.

ooh I like the sound of your conservatoire Cod.

Where are all these children with tv's in their bedrooms then? Something like 80% of 3 y-o have one.

DS1 likes So You Think You're Smarter Than a 10 y-o. Noel bardy Edmonds, I can't believe he's back.

Elphaba · 16/01/2008 11:44

No, we need more than one TV. I can't watch kids TV - I'm 35.
