pmsl

policywonk · 07/01/2008 16:27

I like him. He makes me laugh. I think people take his Richard-Littlejohn-manque schtick too seriously.

Can't believe anyone would publish their bank account details in the Sun though.

It's made my day/week/month complete - no one deserves it more .

ROFL

I like him. At least he has a sense of humour

belgo · 07/01/2008 16:30

I quite like him, but he still deserves it though

I am a fan of Jeremy's but that was a pretty stupid thing to do

kerala · 07/01/2008 16:34

He is the hero of a particularly annoying type of not very bright right wing middle aged man (like my FIL). Rights of drivers, slagging off environmentalists, thinking he is speaking up for an oppressed minority when in fact the majority of middle England agree with him. Yuck yuck yuck.

HairyIrene · 07/01/2008 16:35

well he asked for it!
dont really like him top gear gig,
but read his Sunday TImes column out to FIL when we visit and we chortle, ...for often very different reasons... tis fun

he at least has something to say
not many columnists do

Habbibu · 07/01/2008 16:38

I like what the reader did, though. (minus the illegality, blah blah) Do you reckon he'll stop the DD?

SueBaroo · 07/01/2008 17:50

Oh I do love him, he's hilarious. I always enjoy someone who likes rubbing the fashionable up the wrong way, and does so without apology.

But it was an utterly daft thing to do. I did like him standing up to the teenage oiks a few weeks ago, though.

MummyDoIt · 07/01/2008 17:53

I really like him and love his books but that is quite funny (sorry, Jeremy). Just heard his mum interviewed by Chris Evans on Radio 2. Did you know she made the first Paddington Bear toy?

Twinkie1 · 07/01/2008 17:54

I quite fancy old Jeremy I am afraid!

Whizzz · 07/01/2008 17:55

oh dear - at least the money has gone to a good cause

PrismManchip · 07/01/2008 17:57

Oh I love it when his type get shown up
(though I was hoping it was true about the details on the disks...)

FAWKEOFF · 07/01/2008 17:58

i do like him though

pinkmook · 07/01/2008 18:00

Lol-o-coaster

RubberDuck · 07/01/2008 18:01

So - question is, how did the DD go through ... how did the bank authorise it with no authorisation, signature or any proof of identity? That is quite scary actually (funny too, but mostly scary).

I'm also surprised that the bank can't stop it happening again, and it's not due to Data Protection (data protection means that they won't tell Jeremy who did it). Otherwise it would hamstring every bank's fraud department in the land

RubberDuck · 07/01/2008 18:03

To put it into perspective, you put your bank details out there every time you write a cheque...

... I think the bank should be asking itself some very hard questions right now.

LittleBella · 07/01/2008 18:05

Kerala speaks truth

VeniVidiVickiQV · 07/01/2008 18:09

I find him quite amusing, but, he's the sort that I'd probably end up wanting to punch at a dinner party

I bet James May did it

emmaagain · 07/01/2008 18:13

To put it into even more perspective: the details that people you write a cheque to are lacking are things like your address, full name and date of birth.

Wait a sec, all of that information, together with bank details, in a handy spreadsheet, for almost every one of us, is on a lost disc somewhere.

Excellent.

I'll vote for any party which promises to abolish all these centralised databases, me.

roisin · 07/01/2008 18:21

I like JC, and he actually is a very clever guy.
But this was a pretty stupid thing to do, and I did chuckle when I read the article today.
