here

I find this really odd, tyhe whole falling in love with Cerys thing.

Bizarre.

OP posts:

But in this case, even if you just take her side of the story, it was a one off (never acceptable btw) He behaved appaulingly if this is true

He hasn't repeated it or she would be telling those times too

she hasn't seen him only had a phone convo where she dumped him. I still find it odd that she didn't do that when he hit her but is insensed by what happened in the jungle and can do it so easily now AND can go to the papers to trash him. I have read he is tied into contracts due to I'm a celeb and so can't go to tabloids himself, so can't even start to clear his name

I don't see the fear quite frankly

(and before you start Elizabeth, I have been in DA situation and am currently helping a friend leave er very abusive husband, I know how it is, I just believe in 2 sides to every story and justice)

minorityrules · 25/11/2007 19:27

I used adultery as what I'm guessing she sees it as

I personally don't think they have done anything wrong in the jungle, just 2 people having a connection, they haven't acted on it

DrBunsentheHarpsichordCarrier · 25/11/2007 19:30

oh I see
I think we are all getting a bit carried away.
falling for someone on one of these shows isn't really adultery, it is the point of these shows surely?
and branding someone a habitual wife beater on the grounds of one accusation isn't really on, either.
god I don't know why I am defending this person, he is probably deeply indefensible but this is just a witch hunt dressed up as righteous indignation imo

Elizabetth · 25/11/2007 19:55

""It doesn't preclude a member of the public having an opinion about somebody's behaviour."
no but the laws of libel do protect people's reputations."

We can all have a good long wait for Bannerman's libel suit against the Sunday Mirror then can't we?

This isn't a witchhunt, the guy attacked a woman, something which people seem frighteningly relaxed about, in fact it's not even relaxation it's a knee-jerk reaction to blame her for daring to talk about it. Like LittleBella says, it's this kind of attitude towards domestic violence that leaves two women a week murdered by their partners in this country.

minorityrules · 25/11/2007 20:22

"the guy attacked a woman"....

Once, almost 2 years ago and not repeated (it would appear, I think GF would have mentioned it, if it was more than once)

You can't brand this man a serial woman abuser or compare him to one

bossybritches · 25/11/2007 20:36

PMSL at how seriously this is all being taken when all we have to go on are some tabloid reports & the say-so of one humiliated soap has been!

I repeat no-one has seen the charge-sheet,no-one has seen the hospital/MO reports so who can judge.

I'm sure if Cerys wants to make a go of it she'll sort it out her own way-she's hardly going to rush into anything under the watchful eye of Joe Public is she? She's been married before so I would hope be very wary, but if she's not it's her look-out.

I'm off to get a cuppa before it all starts again!

Happy arguing!

2shoes · 25/11/2007 23:03

sorry did i miss a wedding as i thought she wa his girlfriend.

Boogalooblue · 26/11/2007 09:55

I have had first hand experience of the Sunday Mirror where they printed absolute lies, there was not one grain of truth in the whole article.

I never believe stuff I read in the gutter press and it is my opinion that anyone who does trust any of the newspapers is naive.

Complaining and suing seems futile as any apologie will normally be a couple of cms at the bottom of page 14

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 10:05

Exactly Boogaloo- it's rehashed in todays DM as well.

Elizabetth · 26/11/2007 15:13

Are there a lot of Marc Bannerman fans here or something?

Cos you all seem to be taking it seriously enough to try and dismiss what appears to be a true story.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 26/11/2007 15:27

She flew out to Australia to be with her wife-beater boyfriend. I am not condoning domestic violence she is.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 15:28

No Elizabeth not at all-just don't like to take ANYTHING the tabloids say as true!

Also personally don't like to jump on the automatic all-men-are-shits-all-women-are-vicitms bandwagon!

LittleGoldfish · 26/11/2007 15:45

If it was written in the Mirror it must be true then - not.

From what I heard they were both violent to each other - she used to punch him in the face so should he have to take that? Some couples are truly as bad as each other and in some cases women are more violent to their partners - most men would be emabarrassed to admit that their GF/DW punch and slap them around.

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 15:48

It's a growing minority sadly...to the point that there are some MENS refuges springing up.

this was in 2003/4

Elizabetth · 26/11/2007 16:25

This information was in the public domain before the Mirror reported on it. He was arrested, he was charged, the police did want to pursue a prosecution. It's weird to dismiss the facts just because they have been repeated in a tabloid. Tabloids don't always get it wrong (not arguing that they always get it right either).

"Also personally don't like to jump on the automatic all-men-are-shits-all-women-are-vicitms bandwagon!"

One guy beating up his girlfriend doesn't equal all men being shits or all women being victims. I think you're taking this a bit too seriously bb.

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 16:56

PMSL- Elizabeth it was you who brought the serious tone to this thread when the rest of us where having a sceptical giggle about it all!!

(See 10 posts in [email protected]!)

Elizabetth · 26/11/2007 17:49

I guess if we're talking about who is taking it the most seriously you were the first person to respond to the OP, immediately to accuse her of being a liar and you went to the IACGMOH thread to do the same thing. I'd say accusing someone of being a liar is pretty serious. The thing is whether they are true or not, accusations of violence really aren't funny. It's not possible to pretend they are. Even if you do use a few to make out that a woman saying she was attacked is just a giggle.

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 17:57

wooooow hang on Elizabeth you are coming back all guns blazing on a thread that started off as a bit of a chat & accusing me of something pretty nasty!

I don't recall calling anyone a liar (hastily re-reading threads to check) & I'm sorry I'm no good at acronyms so to defend myself could you spell out what IACGMOH means ? Thanks

if I've offended anyone then I'm always the first to apologise but I think you need to lighten up a bit!

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 18:01

By the way just off to do some RL stuff so please don't think I'm ignoring you will you ?

back later!

whispywhisp · 26/11/2007 18:59

Elizabeth: !!!!!

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 19:43

Doh!

Slaps forhead sorry Elizabeth just twigged "I'm a Celebrity thread...ok I'll just re-read where it was I insulted someone & get back to you....

bossybritches · 26/11/2007 20:29

OK- this is the OP's post

"I find this really odd, tyhe whole falling in love with Cerys thing

Bizarre"

Then several people including me all stated we thought the timing was a bit suspect.

Nowhere do I see have I called anyone here a liar?

Yes I posted a link to the thread on Telly-addicts as it was relevant to the totally inane light hearted banter we have all been enjoying about the equally silly Jungle celebrity.

You obviously feel offended by this whole discussion so maybe we ought to leave it there, before I really do say something I regret!
