and since when does 'a life sentence' mean you get out when you are 26

11 paltry years for taking someones life, and altering an entire family

UCM! What are we going to see? Tell me!! You're going to self-critique more often? Yay!!

On the subject of self-criticism, i really don't like that verb you invented, Pan. Tis not nice. Tis downright ugly.

Hurly! Would you, please, just fuck off about the Daily Mail readers. We're not feral, we're not stupid, we're not thick. It is a newspaper. I don't see much difference in any of 'em.

It is so bloody dull

Was joke Desi. Not serious.

Oh come on. Us Guardian readers have had the piss ripped out of us for decades. For good reason. It is also for good reason re the DM. If you don't think they're any different, read the DM, the Guardian and the Sun every day for a week and compare their takes on the stories.

I've done a bit of research and found out that Frances Lawrence was involved in a project helping out Youths (the Philip Lawrence Awards), funded by the Youth Justice Board. Her husband's murderer, meanwhile, also, was doing talks to youths involved in crime, telling them of the evils of knife crime.

Perhaps this is why she was so disappointed that he wasn't deported - she maybe knew that she may have to work WITH him. Cor.

I can only assume that would be the reason why she put so much energy into trying to get him deported - it is also a possibility that he is more british than she - given that he's been here since 5 years old and she's potentially south african.

My gripe is the assumption that the paper you buy denotes your intelligence. We're all more than capable of disseminating what is basically rabble-rousing from mere reportage.

I've only been on MN since May. I can't think of a single day when someone has not made a disparaging remark about Daily Mail readers. I haven't heard a single disparaging remark about Grauniad readers.

I occasionally read the DM (and the Telegraph). They would be my papers of choice. I am white, I am English, and I was once middle class. Thankfully I am not the latter any more.

I could wax lyrical about what I think about the above, but the basic emotion is this:

You're boring me. You can spit in my face, you can shit in my shoes, you can piss on my stoop, but please .... don't bore me

..... I love you all really, though. You know I do.

There was a comment just a few posts ago about Guardian readers - the swans and airmiles one.

You only posted that so Desi didn't get the last word ... It's okay Desi, I am very broadminded and I do know people who admit to reading the Daily Telegraph.

Not many though.

Goodnight all,

Sorry I thought the thread was about Philip Lawrence.

No, hurley. You're very broad-sheeted

Good night, hurly, you little minx!

I do agree, that under current law, the murderer of PL should not be deported. It would be a legal anomaly for that to happen.

According to the Guardian the Home Office were disappointed by the judges decision and want to support an appeal! What's that about? It's clearly not going to work to send a man who's been here since he was 5, whose mother fled here because Dad's a Mafia boss and was in fear of their lives, to Italy, where he can't even speak the language (allegedly)!

I'm really concerned about the Home Office but that's a totally nother matter.

Good night all, whatever you read.
