I saw this, it happened 10 minutes from where I live.

tiredemma · 14/08/2007 11:23

Saw this first thing this morning- was going to start a thread, but im so pissed off at looking at endless threads relating to violence to children.

its so bloody sad.

momi07 · 14/08/2007 11:24

ScoobyDooooo · 14/08/2007 11:34

What an awful world we live in

smugmumofboys · 14/08/2007 11:37

This is just sickening. What on earth is going on in this country that this is happening with such (perceived) frequency to children? If people were beating their dogs they would be prosecuted and banned from keeping animals. Why is that psychotic, sadistic wankers are allowed to be under the same roof as small children?

smellymelly · 14/08/2007 11:37

What the hell is the matter with people??

So glad to be out of the UK the whole country seems to be falling apart..

oliveoil · 14/08/2007 11:40

ffs, nice thread title

have a think on next time please

LucyJones · 14/08/2007 11:45

what do you mean oo?
do you have dcs that are reading over your shoulder?

Peachy · 14/08/2007 11:47

At kleast it doesn't appear to be the Mother this time, there's something extra awful seemingly when itis. Or is that just me?

Wishing a speedy recovery to the mother X

thomcat · 14/08/2007 11:47

Jesus, I'm massively with OO on that one.
Really not a nice thread title to have to see in active convos all day.
It's like a punch in the face to read that.

A thread title along the lines of 'shocking news re toddler' would have been far more appropriate.

I can't bear to read the article, the thread title tlls me all I need to now and now I have to see that title for as long as people keep posting.

Awful tragic news

LucyJones · 14/08/2007 11:48

oh I see now what you mean
agree with Thomcat

totaleclipse · 14/08/2007 11:50

Sorry about the thread title, I first saw it on the daily mail website, and that is thier heading, did'nt think, sorry.

OP posts:
oliveoil · 14/08/2007 11:50

this happens all the time

I have done numerous threads asking to think about thread titles, but no

I CHOOSE not to look at these hideous links (who wants that info anyway you ghouls?)

I can't IGNORE this title

boogiewoogie · 14/08/2007 12:22

indeed

EricL · 14/08/2007 13:18

Can someone please explain to me why some posters on this site cherry-pick all the god-awful news stories (available publicly to anyone who has access to the media and two eyes) and post them on here?

What is the point of it?

It's so damn depressing and sensationalist that i think i am going to stop visiting this 'In The News' topic.

It is just fanning this dis-proportionate sense of fear we have in this country, which is a hell of a lot nicer place to live than a lot of other countries over the world.

I like the UK and it's people and feel it is a great place to bring up my kids.

speedymama · 14/08/2007 13:30

People do post positive stories. Just because dreadful stories are posted, does not mean that everything is bad.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 14/08/2007 13:39

"Why is that psychotic, sadistic wankers are allowed to be under the same roof as small children?"

Sadly in this case it would appear (from reading the story and watching on the news) that they aren't looking for anyone else in connection with it......so I'm presuming they assume the mother did it and then turned the knife on herself .

tiredemma · 14/08/2007 13:42

The mother is from Africa- has been here for 8 months and had been seen 'behaving oddly' locally.

It would appear that the news reports are guiding us in the direction of believing that the mother is to blame.

Someone then who should have been recieving some kind of mental health help.

what a bloody shame.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 14/08/2007 13:50

sorry "from Africa".........that's a like someone living in Australia saying that a Brit is "from Europe".....and what has that got to do with it anyhow (where she comes from?)
