Dodgy ground, there, Justine

LittleBellatrixLeBoot · 18/07/2007 22:01

Is that her in the picture?

DangerousBeans · 18/07/2007 22:03

"Plus our children are so used to being marshalled, I doubt they'd know what to do if we pushed them out of the door saying, go and play".

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 18/07/2007 22:04

Well I agree with what she said!

I ended up staying longer in work today as if I didn't finish what I had to do, it would have impacted on our service level agreements, which would have then looked crap on my monthly stats and could lead to a verbal warning....with that kind of pressure around, no wonder parents find working part time and leaving on time so hard!

Whooosh · 18/07/2007 22:06

No it isn't the gorgeous Justine...

MarsLady · 18/07/2007 22:06

No that's NOT our Justine!

Well she makes some very good points.

SlightlyMadSpider · 18/07/2007 22:08

LOL at

My four-year-old recently said to me that if he were very rich he'd buy the whole family presents - ........ and I'd be presented with... wait for it... a new computer - because "that's all you do, Mum".

JeremyVile · 18/07/2007 22:08

Think she's pretty spot on, especially re the need for cheaper housing and childcare, if that were to happen there would be a huge knock on effect, a really positive cultural shift.

juuule · 18/07/2007 22:10

How is more affordable childcare going to help you spend more time together as a family?

OP posts:
Quattrocento · 18/07/2007 22:10

Well that's how I feel - spot on!

Quattrocento · 18/07/2007 22:11

Well more affordable childcare means that parents might be able to work less and spend more time at home?

Hulababy · 18/07/2007 22:11

juuule - I think it linked to the bit where she says that people feel they need to work xxx hours just to justify the childcare costs involved.

MintyDixCharrington · 18/07/2007 22:12

it is "wracked with guilt" not "racked"!!

although I'll allow you "rack up the hours" that you used later on in the article

Hope that was the telegraph sub and not you (smarm smarm)

controlfreakyflitwick · 18/07/2007 22:12

ahem, that was me with the mother and daughter book clubs......

Blondilocks · 18/07/2007 22:17

I think that was a good article.

UnquietDad · 19/07/2007 11:14

Good article.
And whoever it is in the picture, she is hot.

Lolly68 · 19/07/2007 12:09

Very good article.

Hathor · 19/07/2007 12:13

That isn't Justine in the pic it is her body double. She was busy playing with the children.

Aitch · 19/07/2007 12:17

and checking them for nits, no doubt. well done, Justine.

Hathor · 19/07/2007 12:22

FlameDelacour · 19/07/2007 12:44

Only halfway through the article, and not read thread yet, but had to tell you all...

Asked DD what she would by me as a present: Chocolate, sweets and purple crocs

Cammelia · 19/07/2007 12:48

I think Justine is/used to be??? their sports writer

JustineMumsnet · 19/07/2007 12:50

Thank you for the well done's and sorry to any I've offended - wracked is embarrassing but not half as bad for me as "my parenting forum" which was subbed in and I would never have written. Been a lot of teasing here at Mumsnet Towers about my plans to invade Poland next .

FlameDelacour · 19/07/2007 12:53

I did snigger at the "my parenting forum" and thought it didn't sound like you (not that I know you but ykwim!!!).
