i dont think thats what shes like at all emkana

nickytwotimes · 15/07/2007 20:46

i think even she must have felt the writing style was a bit crap, hence the anonimity (sp.)!

expatinscotland · 15/07/2007 20:48

I'm eternally shocked by how stupid people are.

I mean, what did they expect would happen after they had children - a completely voluntary action, in this country?

It's not like she was a 14-year-old who fell pregnant on accident.

I wasn't nurtured, I lost myself, I waaaaaaa.

Who cares? So go find yourself, go nurture yourself, go away!

margoandjerry · 15/07/2007 20:49

Actually, stronger than my first post:

I think it's good to see articles like this. She's pointing out that even after the horrible rigours of fertility treatment, when your "dream comes true" it can be much harder than you expected and it can damage your relationship.

And how many women who used to have careers as important to them as their partner's career haven't wondered why their partner doesn't share completely in the domestic chores?

I really think these points are important and I don't really understand the antipathy.

nailpolish · 15/07/2007 20:50

whoah there expat

thats a bit strong

nickytwotimes · 15/07/2007 20:50

margo, her crap writing style undermines her points. it's like something out of one of those weekly ladie's magazines!

nailpolish · 15/07/2007 20:50

so, expat, was everything exactly like you had imaginined it?

newgirl · 15/07/2007 20:51

i read that!

i thought:

work part-time to help your self-esteem

get out more

discuss you working instead of your dh

go out with your dh more - babies can be fed and then you go out - i bet they can afford good babysitters

meet more like-minded mums who can be interesting stimulating company

i mean - what on earth is going on - the article was not even well edited - it sort of fizzled out with a cheesy line that the child was the love of her life - what a cliche - what about loving more than one person?

nickytwotimes · 15/07/2007 20:51

OMG!! PUT APOSTROPHE IN WRONG PLACE!

expatinscotland · 15/07/2007 20:51

So is whinging in piss poor style about the state of your life after having a child, naily, IMO.

expatinscotland · 15/07/2007 20:52

Exactly, newgirl! Take the bull by the horns and do something about it.

FFS.

Whinging drives me mental.

nailpolish · 15/07/2007 20:52

lol newgirl i agree - i was scrolling down looking for the end to the article when i had already reached the end

and newgirl you are so sweet - thinkign of advice for her

nailpolish · 15/07/2007 20:53

AHHHHH NOW I agree aobut whinging and not getting off your arse to do something to change it

no. 1 in my most hated - folks who whinge but wont try to change situation - some just love to moan

MadamePlatypus · 15/07/2007 20:53

I think it sounds as though she was depressed and they didn't communicate - not an uncommon situation, but not universal either.

Hard to put into words.

Clearly [grin}

nailpolish · 15/07/2007 20:55

i think in the end she was ok though - it seems to me the article ws written some time after this period of her life

( i am now seeing her writing this in victorian nightgown and dying swan position)

expatinscotland · 15/07/2007 20:55

I think back to the wisdom of my grandmother.

'EIS, you know what? A lot of people nowadays just think too damn much'.

meandmyflyingmachine · 15/07/2007 20:55

Ooops

ProjectSeverus · 15/07/2007 20:55
newgirl · 15/07/2007 20:55

yes! she needs to come on here and we will sort her out!

mummytosteven · 15/07/2007 20:56

apart from the Oxford degree bit, which was a bit cringey, a lot of it rang true. Sure, it's in typical "the first journo to ever give birth" mode, but hey, it's better than reading yet more drivel about yummy mummies.

newgirl · 15/07/2007 20:56

yes thinking too much is not good - action is better!

mummytosteven · 15/07/2007 20:57

newgirl - I kept wanting toshout out "GET BACK TO WORK" [grin[
