I have joined this site solely to remind all you thoughtless, forgetful, selfish ba#@ards that Madeleine McCann is missing!!!!!!!! I cannot understand how anyone can sit with their arms around their own children, in the comfort of a cinema whilst feeding their children popcorn and Coke that there are lots of mothers in this world who cannot do this. Their children have been taken from them and I wonder if any of you had the money or the resources available to them, I wonder if you would have campaigned this long or this hard for their daughters return. I wish the McCanns every success and only wish I could physically find their daughter for them. I am taking my 6 kids to see Shrek tomorrow and I hope my cinema is still showing the Madeleine film. I hope the publicity generated stays in your faces for a long time to come. Tell me, if she passed in front of you down at the shops or at the park could any of you be bothered to actually tell someone. Or are you all just to happy in the knowledge that its not one of your children. There but for the grace of God............

OP posts:

bloodyfuckingbastarding hell!!! Excuse my outburst but FFS! We all feel sorry for the McCanns, we have all wished for Madeleines safe return. Her parents are articulate, intelligent people who have utilised the press to generate as much publicity as they can to find their little girl. I dont usually post on these threads as i feel they are pointless but really, if they feel that reminding us about their daughter, and other children that have gone missing is going to be in the slightest bit of help then they must do everything in their power to make this happen. I can understand that this would make some people feel uncomfortable and sad for a short time but if it helps then so what. The original post was wayyyyyyy out of order, provocative, reactionary shite if you ask me.

I think the fact that we sit here on mumsnet means that we care for our children deeply and have an empathy with other parents generally over many issues. Maybe, if the OP had been around a bit longer she would have recognised this.

I don't read the threads about madeliene generally, it upsets me and i dont feel it achieves anything, but if it keeps the profile high, no matter how it is perceived, then i would imagine the McCanns would welcome it, based on their approach to finding their little girl, i salute their bravery and wish them the best luck in the world.

Thanks ladies

Haychee, my children know there are bad things in the world. They have no clue about the detail just yet, and that is our parental decision. I'm really not sure why that has irked you and biddzy so much.

Marina · 04/07/2007 15:55

Oh I've learned something interesting from your posts all right haychee

Littlelapin you are a regular, why are you letting yourself get dragged into this

Some people come on here to debate and if they "listen" too occasionally have their opinion altered (I certainly did on this subject)

Some come on here to just give their opinion and have you agree with them - you cant reason with them so why try?

What irkes me is, how would you feel if they found out some detail from somewhere? which was not from you?

Boco · 04/07/2007 15:57

littlelapin - im with you, i still dont know what parping is but who the hell are these people slagging off other parents>?>

meandmyflyingmachine · 04/07/2007 16:01

When I first came on to MN I went on to a contentious thread (not the purpose of my joining, but anyway...)

I expressed my opinion (increasingly forcibly) and so did some other posters. It went on a while and we never agreed, or even budged an inch from our original positions. But there was no personal mudslinging, no "you bitches" or "up yours" - and I have to say that last one is so 'playground' as to be laughable.

A good barney is part of the joy of MN.

I suggest you stray onto some other threads and take a peek.

lucyellensmum · 04/07/2007 16:02

haychee, we live in a violent, sad and murderous world, i rather think i will protect my children from this knowledge for as long as i bloody well can.

lucyellensmum · 04/07/2007 16:03

did somebody really say "up yours"? ROTFL

meandmyflyingmachine · 04/07/2007 16:04

Actually, I think we live in a wonderful word, with some "violent, sad and murderous" events. And that is why I don't wish to play up the significance of one over the other.

haychee · 04/07/2007 16:04

So LUCYELLENSMUM
what do you say to your child when you go into a bustling busy environment? Lets say a trip on a packed tube? Stay close to mummy beacuse.....? but there is nothing to fear anywhere so why do i have to stay close to mummy?

meandmyflyingmachine · 04/07/2007 16:05

I know. I feel wicked for laughing at these threads but how could you not?

A question for those parents who want their children to believe there is nothing to fear in the world;
You go to London on a day trip and travel on the tubes, what do you tell your kids? stay close to mummy cos of what reason?

by elesbells
i tell my kids to stay close to mummy because of nutjob trolls like you!

ThePedantifier · 04/07/2007 16:05

How about "hold Mummy's hand darling, so you don't get lost?"

You are sick, you really are.

meandmyflyingmachine · 04/07/2007 16:06

"Otherwise you will get lost"
