Maybe they could put up subliminal messages next to the prices.

whomovedmychocolate · 13/04/2007 23:39

I reckon some sort of trance display at toddler height at every checkout which convinces the little darlings to sleep for the next three hours as soon as the car seatbelt closes.

Just before christmas,my Ds's were fighting in Sainsburys so I told DS1 (7) to look at a magazine, displayed by the check out. He then wanted to know what the cover story 'I cheated on hubby dogging with pervy copper' meant.

kimi · 13/04/2007 23:53

Ok need duck tape, hand cuffs and a stun gun.
Tesco here I come.

hana · 14/04/2007 00:00

sooooo much nicer to do weekly shop on line
or if you must, leave the kids at home!

kimi · 14/04/2007 00:06

Leave them at home and miss out on all that screaming for cocopops because it has a bloody free bit of crap in it, are you mad.

hana · 14/04/2007 00:10

sometimes go in evening after dh is home, or on sat/sun if just for a few bits. but have been doing online order pretty much since dd3 was born - she's 7 months. has revoluntionized my life, it's really THAT good!

chocolateface · 14/04/2007 00:13

Hana, All MNers shop online, they jsut like to coment. There are times though when you do have to go in, as they don't deliver everyting.

AspartameGoddessOfCatAstrophe · 14/04/2007 00:15

I usually go to the till near the ride on thomas the tank so DD can play on it while I pack and pay. Only yesterday she biffed another child who was playing on 'her' thomas, so I had to go and intervene while the checkout chick huffily packed all 40 or so items into a single carrier bag which promptly broke when I lifted it. Aaaargh! So take away the first and last letter of 'every little helps' and what do you get?

Seriously though, a sweet free aisle with some toys stuck to the wall like at Mothercare would be great, and it would also be lovely if they packed bags without first asking and then glaring at you and then sighing deeply. In Australia they pack bags for you too - and very nicely - heavy things at the bottom and all that.

??
nope I avoid taking 3 kids in , it's not worth any stress it may cause to me

AspartameGoddessOfCatAstrophe · 14/04/2007 00:18

kerrymum, I find the delivered food is usually better than whats in the store tbh - i assume its because they don't want you to complain and return it, and because a hundred other shoppers haven't handled it. And it its dodgy you ring them and say so, and they refund you.

kimi · 14/04/2007 00:18

DP did get stuff delivered when me and the kids first moved in but I hated it.
Want to pick my own meat/fruit/veg etc.

kimi · 14/04/2007 00:19

Garden shed is fine just take weed killer out first

AspartameGoddessOfCatAstrophe · 14/04/2007 00:20

i guess even if you just ordered delivery for the tins/grocery items/milk etc, it would at least mean you could spend less time at the store to get your veg etc, so less tantruming time!

kimi · 14/04/2007 00:21

Also old coal bunker, celler or the really weird bloke in the raincoat at number 12 work well.

TinyGang · 14/04/2007 00:22

We used to have a nice little soft play area at our supermarket. You paid a £1 and signed them in and everyone was happy as larry.

It was so good and worked so well....they closed it and put in a photo-shop instead.

Yes...if they really want to help..MOVE THE SWEETS AWAY FROM THE CHECKOUT!

kimi · 14/04/2007 00:23

But really I am very very lucky as DH1 takes me shopping every week in the car. The kids (if hey come) go and read the comics and I do a massive shop.
DS2 is a pain about cereal though

chocolateface · 14/04/2007 00:25

Kimi, how many DH's do you have?

hana · 14/04/2007 00:27
