Elizabeth and Katie Edwards murders: killers' identities revealed

Plexie · 09/06/2017 12:00

This is the case in 2016 where a mother and daughter were murdered in their beds and a teenage girl and boy were found guilty. The names of the killers weren't revealed because of their ages.

The BBC are reporting that the ban on naming the killers has been lifted. The girl killer was the daughter/sister of Elizabeth and Katie. Chilling.

Fucking hell. That's awful. Rest in peace Elizabeth and Katie.

Racmactac · 09/06/2017 12:04

Omg never expected this to be the situation.

Cantseethewoods · 09/06/2017 12:07

I thought this was pretty obvious from the get go.

MissSueFlay · 09/06/2017 12:11

I remember thinking at the time that there was some link between them, you never saw the surviving daughter and she happened to be the same age as the girl convicted of the murders... just dreadful

Cantseethewoods · 09/06/2017 12:11

Sorry- that sounded snippy. Not intended. My reasons

  • stranger murder v rare
  • likelihood of 2 teenagers breaking and entering and killing 2 strangers in their beds with no sex assault/Burglary = practically unheard of
  • news reported there was a sister but there were never any photos or quotes from her
ILookedintheWater · 09/06/2017 12:12

It wasn't a well kept secret though was it? The two had been all over the national press the previous autumn after running away together for a week. It's a terribly sad case all round.

So did I. She was described as a mother of two and the other daughter had run away with the boyfriend before. And they stayed in the house afterwards.

Mothervulva · 09/06/2017 12:14

I agree it's fairly obvious if you think about it. I'm originally from up that way and we all knew what had happened. It's truly shocking.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/06/2017 12:15

Oh crap that's really really awful - tragic, but awful.

YogaAndRum · 09/06/2017 12:15

I read between the lines at the time. Absolutely horrific this case Sad

ShatnersBassoon · 09/06/2017 12:15

I think it was made clear who had done it in the reporting at the time. It really is chilling.

PacificDogwod · 09/06/2017 12:18

Awful tragedy. For all concerned in my opinion.

Deeply troubled family

Plexie · 09/06/2017 12:19

It never crossed my mind that they might be related - I thought the girl/boy might have known the victims from school.

Anyone hazard as to what maybe wrong with them?

Sounds almost psychopathic or is it a result of trauma neglect being scapegoated and abandoned by the dad?
Wonder what the bckgeound of the boy is he sounded totally up for it

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 09/06/2017 15:41

I'm just glad the injunction was lifted. It was easy to find out on the internet anyhow.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 09/06/2017 15:47

It was screamingly obvious. Tragic case. What a mess

NorthernLurker · 09/06/2017 17:14

There is another case not totally dissimilar from this coming to trial soon. It's impossible to understand.

RJnomore1 · 09/06/2017 17:22

I honestly thought everyone knew although the names weren't released.

Itscurtainsforyou · 09/06/2017 17:27

I believe she was a mother of three. I'd heard that the eldest daughter announced it on Facebook but then deleted it within days of them being arrested.

Horrible situation.

Bluedabbadee · 09/06/2017 17:30

We already knew this; it was widely reported, if you knew where to look. Very sad.

Blueemeraldagain · 09/06/2017 17:44

I think the defense tried to argue that the daughter is suffering from severe attachment disorder. She felt the mother disliked her and favoured the younger sister. The mother had admitted striking the older daughter and the daughter had accused her mother of strangling her on a separate occasion, although the mother and younger sister denied that. Both daughters had been removed from the mother's care previously. And the older daughter has run away from home and chose to live in the woods until she was found and brought home.

Not that any of that is an excuse for murder but puts another perspective on things.

NorthernLurker · 09/06/2017 17:57

There is a lot of focus on the girl and rightly so but the violence was actually perpetrated by the boy - and none of the attachment issues etc relate to him.

Alfieisnoisy · 09/06/2017 17:59

I am not sure why they have lifted the anonymity now but I was aware of the identities anyway.

Sounds like a very troubled family but to be fair there are lots of troubled families whose kids don't grow up and want to kill them. I suspect this girl has some kind of other issues going on as well. Eye sad.

Paninotogo · 09/06/2017 18:02

It was reported initially, but then obviously names were later not used as they were only 14.

jonathan01n · 09/06/2017 18:24

Tragic story. I hope Katie and Elizabeth can rest in peace. Sad
As I live in Lincoln this story seemed so close to home. [ sad]
