Me!

As my dad always said, 'You can't complain if you didn't vote.'

reverseferret · 24/01/2007 16:37

whatever happened to Ameriscot?

uwila · 24/01/2007 16:38

And, muminfife, will you solemnly swear to vote against Hilary Clinton?

OP posts:
uwila · 24/01/2007 16:39

no idea. I've wondered that too.

Guys I wish I could. But will next Presidential one as I intend to be an American Citizen by then. Did you all watch the State of the Union or read about it?

expatinscotland · 24/01/2007 16:50

There is NO way I am voting for Hilary Clinton.

Sorry, but I just don't like her.

Period.

paulaplumpbottom · 24/01/2007 17:19

I'll get my vote in. I'm so excited about this election. Its going to be soooo interesting. I'm with you (as usual) on the Hillary front.

bakedpotato · 24/01/2007 17:25

I am.

uwila · 24/01/2007 17:39

I agree they are certainly looking for a first. Poor Edwards he is a white southern boy, he doesn't stand a chance with them.

JanH · 24/01/2007 17:58

DD1 does (and she's not afraid to use it)

I have voted since I've been over here (12 yrs this yr )

USAUKMum · 24/01/2007 19:57

and meant to say, we can all get a thread going to celebrate/moan about the outcome

paulaplumpbottom · 24/01/2007 20:06

Its not the same though as being at the local headquarters waiting for the results to come in.I love the tense atmosphere.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2007 20:17

I stay up all night watching the results come in.

Woohoo!

This is an exciting time.

Am looking forward to it.

Especially when they say, 'Absentee ballots have been counted and so far . . . '

paulaplumpbottom · 24/01/2007 20:32

I think the thing that has been disappointing about the last two elections is that there has been no results on the night.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2007 20:35

Yes!

I'll never forget that kerfuffle back in 1999. OMG!

My mother and I were in Bath. We raced to the newsagent.

Who's President?

The shopkeeper said, Erm, no one.

Hanging chad, anyone?

paulaplumpbottom · 24/01/2007 20:41

I kept calling my mom every half hour for days. I had stayed up all night and at 8am I just couldn't any more.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2007 20:52

We kept hanging round newsagents.

People were laughing their arses off.

uwila · 24/01/2007 20:59

I went to the American Embassy in London. All night bash with live results. Trouble is it didn't get going until about 3 am. But, I was pregnant and had to be at work in the morning, so I missed most of the fun. I'm taking holiday next time.

Great idea, uwila!

Think I might do that as well.
