British Official Warning Public: Stock up on food, water, canned goods & cash – enough to survive 1 month – Banks may CLOSE(Stock meltdown) investmentwatchblog.com/whoa-british-official-warning-public-stock-up-on-food-water-canned-goods-cash-enough-to-survive-1-month-banks-may-closestock-meltdown/

of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's advisers is in full-blown panic mode over China's Black Monday uk.businessinsider.com/gordon-brown-adviser-damian-mcbride-full-blown-panic-mode-over-chinas-black-monday-2015-8

We have seen seeing the markets crashing everywhere. Governments from china to the US and EU are trying their best to simulate the economy and delay the inevitable. It is now official, there will be an stock market collapse, meaning the banks will be shut and with that everything coming to halt. No one will be at work, no imports will come in, food and medication selves will be empty, civil unrest, hungry and confused people etc... will follow. We have seen it happen to other countries like Greece, but this time no will be here to save our butts.

We dont know what simulation package (if any) will follow, but in the mean time it will be a good idea to have bear essentials like food/ water/ medication/ warm clothing and coal to hand. Im looking at it as buying insurance.

Just wondering how much food and other essentials you have got in your house. And would you be buying more stuff to protect your family, from a economic collapse.

Most people dont keep up to date on this stuff, if you have please share some info to help others understand what is happening.

Thanks

Sophie

Ha! Great minds and all that Snow Grin

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 10:20

And ostrich feathers would probably make a nice warm quilt to hide under as the spiderzombies shamble past.

Snowfilledsky · 01/09/2015 10:21

Lets go to Iceland and fill our trolleys Eve

We're all making plans sleepy! Aren't we making the right plans?!

patterkiller · 01/09/2015 10:22

I've a log burner, a water butt and two Labradors. Sorted. And my two cases of Pinot of course.

Snowfilledsky · 01/09/2015 10:23

YY a trip to Iceland for emergency Ostrich meat and drop by Home Bargains after for some candles. Job's a good 'un.

sleeponeday · 01/09/2015 10:24

Excuse you, we are planning all over this thread! I have a bobble, a zombie escape plan, and everything.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 10:24

Obviously we have got this all wrong, can the OP/sleepy come back and help please?

BoffinMum · 01/09/2015 10:26

This baby will do for two people for 45 days.

evaq8.co.uk/24-Tins-Of-Mountain-House-Survival-Food.html

So if you have a family of four and you really want to prepare for the financial apocalypse you need 4 of them if you think Armageddon will last 90 days (£3200), or 8 of them if you think it will last 180 days (£6400).

Plus you will need water, of course.

evaq8.co.uk/Lifesaver-6000-Litres-Drinking-Water-Disaster-Preparedness-Pack.html £226.80

Finally a top of the range medical kit is essential.

evaq8.co.uk/Immediate-Emergency-Care-Pack.html £778.80

A defibrillator might also be handy, although a bit of me is thinking that might be excessive.

evaq8.co.uk/ZOLL-AED-PLUS-Defibrillator.html £1284.00

Then having seen Cordon, I might well be tempted to buy these for the family.

evaq8.co.uk/Tychem-C-Hooded-Coverall-Protection-Against-Biohazards-and-Chemicals-Medium.html £21.21 each

I think you could tool up for between £8000-£10,000 for this eventuality, depending on whether you feel the defibrillator is essential kit.

Or you could spend the £10,000 on gin and think 'fuck it. I will go with he flow'. which will be my preferred approach.

Perhaps MN can organise a discount code with Evaq8? OFRS10

Economic crises happen. Full blown ones are grim and scary. The Argentinian crisis / crises make a good case study because they were pretty fucking bad. But they do not randomly stop the supply chain of food and water, and they are not the Apocalypse, zombie or otherwise.

I'm with PigletJohn. If you head a post "Official British Public Warning" when you are referring to one bloke tweeting in his private capacity about the U.S. then you've helpfully saved me from wasting an awful lot of time reading your links and following your "argument".

Aramynta · 01/09/2015 10:28

Zombie escape plan is all well and good here. In the event of a huge crash we would move in with Dad. He has overstocked for years - but only because he loves a bargain. Once bought 24 jars of pickles and a further 24 of chutney!

BoffinMum · 01/09/2015 10:28

My grandparents lived through devaluation twice and also the Third Reich and its chaotic end, where food was REALLY hard to come by. I think I can face this.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 01/09/2015 10:29

I have no storage space in my house. I'd have to move in with in laws for stockpiling reasons.

I think I'd rather take my chances with the zonbies, spiders and perishable food items than live with my in laws full time and share bath water and an emergency toilet.

MrsRabbitsTwin · 01/09/2015 10:31

I don't need extra water or tins, as I am one of the Lizard People and all this has been taken care of.

howtorebuild · 01/09/2015 10:41

The Lizzards are celebrating in Scotland on the 9th September.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 01/09/2015 10:44

I loved the Y2k 'crisis'. Retention bonus for me. We had a very jolly party.

ArcheryAnnie · 01/09/2015 11:13

I've had plenty of practice in eating out-of-date tinned goods, so I feel quite well, prepared, anyhow.

Spiders are protein, snow, plus, plenty of leg meat for everyone.

Norks this made me cheer at my desk. Best comment I've seen all day. Also, you will totally survive the impending apocalypse with that can-do, positive attitude!

emotionsecho · 01/09/2015 11:16

Well, I've had a quick look at Damian McBride's profile just to make sure he's the man with all the relevant experience, qualifications and proximity to the heart of the worldwide financial network to understand it enough to make these pronouncements and it's a resounding NO on all those criteria, so I'm going to hold off on the panic buying and bunker building.

How many more of the OP's irrational, scaremongering theories do we need to debunk?

Capucine00 · 01/09/2015 11:18

Zombies make quite good stews apaz. They fall apart too easily to consume as steaks on the outdoor BBQ- the flesh falls between the slats.

It might come to that.

HeighHoghItsBacktoWorkIGo · 01/09/2015 11:21

Damian McBride sounds like a bit of a screwball.

OP, do you have shares in the canned food industry? A pension fund in Nestle (bottled water Wink)?

This sort of "the end of the world is neigh" stuff has been around forever. So far, it hasn't really come. And if it does, a stock of food won't help, being resourceful, adaptable, flexible and cooperative with your neighbours will.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 11:25

capucine is zombie meat not tainyed though? Surely it's gone off...

emotionsecho · 01/09/2015 11:27

Should be ok if you make a curry out of it FattyGrin

SilverNightFairy · 01/09/2015 11:28

I bet my five cats would be gnawing on my thigh before I'm cold, in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse. On the other hand, my 20 lbs fatty cat would keep my family fed for at least a month ( in the manner of the vaunted MumsNet chicken)

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 11:30

Yum, zombie curry. Grin to be fair, I'd eat pretty much anything if it meant survival.

Lancelottie · 01/09/2015 11:36

the end of the world is neigh, Heighho? What, horse meat again?
