of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's advisers is in full-blown panic mode over China's Black Monday uk.businessinsider.com/gordon-brown-adviser-damian-mcbride-full-blown-panic-mode-over-chinas-black-monday-2015-8

We have seen seeing the markets crashing everywhere. Governments from china to the US and EU are trying their best to simulate the economy and delay the inevitable. It is now official, there will be an stock market collapse, meaning the banks will be shut and with that everything coming to halt. No one will be at work, no imports will come in, food and medication selves will be empty, civil unrest, hungry and confused people etc... will follow. We have seen it happen to other countries like Greece, but this time no will be here to save our butts.

We dont know what simulation package (if any) will follow, but in the mean time it will be a good idea to have bear essentials like food/ water/ medication/ warm clothing and coal to hand. Im looking at it as buying insurance.

Just wondering how much food and other essentials you have got in your house. And would you be buying more stuff to protect your family, from a economic collapse.

Most people dont keep up to date on this stuff, if you have please share some info to help others understand what is happening.

Thanks

Sophie

Trust no-one once the biting commences, I too have seen the darker side of humanity - queueing for children's festival fringe shows is no joke. the added complication of a coffee shortage is all that's needed for the perfect storm...

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 15:22

Franok Of course there’s no reason to believe that the US dollar will remain the global reserve currency indefinitely – after all, it displaced sterling, so never say never. Nevertheless, the depth and liquidity of the US Treasury market continues to set it in a league of its own. In comparison, there are question-marks over the euro, and Japan’s debt situation debars the yen from being a realistic alternative. Although China now has the second-largest economy in the world, the RMB won’t really be a credible contender until China genuinely opens up her markets.

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 15:26

Actually, I'd much rather talk about biting.

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 15:28

Are you a biter or are you raising mini zombie in training gnawers?

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 15:37

DD constantly bites. Maybe she will become a zombie? Or will she bite the zombies and turn them human?

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 15:39

she could be the one to save us all Fatty, best keep her well hid from the Iluminati Grin

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 15:40

In addition to biting, I'm considering strapping tiny spurs to their feet. They will thus be able to kick the zombies, causing their sagging flesh to fall from their bones.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 15:43

always she is 20 months and wears 12-18 month clothing, still fits in some 9-12! She's tiny so hiding her won't be a problem. Keeping her quiet may be though.
fair the spurs are an excellent idea. Perhaps I could modify my pram? It's a tandem.

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 15:45

this is a classic movie in the making, oh how I adore MN Wine

ExitPursuedByABear · 01/09/2015 15:50

Haven't read the full thread but I just wanted to say I love Butter Beans.

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 15:51

Fatty - I'd suggest you modify your pram to incorporate blades on the wheels; use Bouddica's chariot as inspiration (and, by the way, she would have totally owned those zombies).

Might I also suggest some sort of sound system that blasts out Carl Orff's "O Fortuna" for additional atmosphere?

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 15:52

right that's it, I nominate for classics Grin

mimilovell · 01/09/2015 15:54

emotionsecho I have read OP comments and I don't see her say that at all. There is a comment telling people to look at the Federal Reserve and there might be a stock market or US Dollar crash. She put up links of Damian McBride, a former special adviser to Gordon Brown, who advised someone to stock up and prepare for a economic crisis.

Both OP and Mr. McBride did not say take your money and stuff it inside the mattress, did they? This is your tactic to justify your piss take remarks you have made previously. Think about it, how precious would money if the world reserve currency collapse? None one will trust any paper currency and no one would be willing to trade in it.

An global economic crisis due to the American Dollar loosing it reserve status and a stock market crash, is what OP believes in. She has given evidence to back up her rational. I don't see her fabricating any other information to scare anyone. She does say have a contingency plan by stocking up on supplies. If it sounds over the top and scaremongering to you, it is because your not prepared.

mimilovell · 01/09/2015 16:00

Answer to Im skint and dont have money to prepare.

There are many coupons online, in newspapers, and in stores. Manufacturers want to attract new customers to try their product so badly that they often offer food for free or near free. People live on coupons with very limited money sources using coupons. Stores also offer reduced pricing on overstocked items. Collecting these supplies will add up if one is willing to start doing so. Never pass up an opportunity to get something for free, especially if it can be stored for later use or barter.

ooerrmissus · 01/09/2015 16:01

Oh dear Mimi the OPs appalling grammar appears to be catching , doesn't it?

VikingLady · 01/09/2015 16:01

Nooooo! Ray Mears is MINE! (In the event of apocalypse).

I've already told DH that in a survival situation I'd leave him for Ray Mears. He said he'd take Bear Grylls.

RM could still knock up a three course meal with booze with the zombies at the door, and fashion weapons for all of us without losing his temper once.

mimilovell · 01/09/2015 16:02

Reply to those who believe this tread or any info like this is another Y2K or Mayan Calender hoax to scare people and sell newspapers.

While Y2K, the Mayan calendar and many others have been wrong, there have been many times when a disaster has been a lot worse than anyone could have predicted. Two of the most powerful tsunamis caused calamities that rank the worst of all time -- one is widespread radiation release in Japan, and event that is likely killing people as you read this. Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma, and recently Sandy were far worst than predicted. Tornadoes have destroyed entire cities. Deepwater Horizon caused the worst oil disaster on record. Many wars and terrorist attacks have brought untold suffering in this century alone. These are still lightweight disasters and are dwarfed in comparison to what has happened before and will happen again. Preparedness is the only answer for the common person to help survive what is eventually coming.

XCChamps · 01/09/2015 16:03

That's uncalled for ooermissus. I think it's clear Mimi is posting in a second language and her grammar's not that bad!

Did you say what the situation you survived was Mimi?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 01/09/2015 16:03

"So do vampires have to stand quietly on the front path if you refuse to let them in? Seems a bit of a design flaw in an evil being in all honesty.""

If you watch Things We Do In The Dark, this question is answered.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 16:08

Ooh Boudicca chariot pram sounds cool. I will get armour for it too then the babies are more protected.

ginslinger · 01/09/2015 16:14

The really important thing is stockpiling wine, gin and biscuits. Who needs to go outdoors when you have that?

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 16:15

And Peppa Pig slingshots, Fatty

Snowfilledsky · 01/09/2015 16:15

I have just been to the pub for dinner. I think I could go a month without food now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/09/2015 16:16

McBrides the shiny man isn't he? I don't trust shiny men at all.

ArcheryAnnie · 01/09/2015 16:18

Both OP and Mr. McBride did not say take your money and stuff it inside the mattress, did they?

mimi this is exactly what D McB did say - it was his very first instruction:

Advice on the looming crash, No.1: get hard cash in a safe place now; don't assume banks & cashpoints will be open, or bank cards will work.
